    Lindsay - "Oh, now you [Joffrey] have character?" - What Joffrey has is a script made for public theater. The following information isn't a spoiler, but Lindsay & Ashley had questions so I'll treat it as a spoiler just the same just in case: Halfhand is a better swordsman than young Jon Snow. He had many opportunities to cut Jon down if he had wanted. What he wanted was a quick death to help Jon gain trust & infiltrate the Wildlings. Halfhand knew the Wildlings would torture him into a slow death otherwise.

    Sansa does not say anything against anyone in the capital because she can't trust anyone. She is trying to save her own life by saying she loved Joffrey (she stopped her girlish dreams when her father was murdered). She says that the capital is her home, because she can not say she wants to go home to her traitor brother, who is an enemy of the crown! She does not mean it, but needs to pretend so no one can accuse her or suspect her of any treason. She is NOT being stupid, she is being SMART!

    Quoron Halfhand knew the wildlings would never believe he would turn traitor but they might believe a bastard new recruit like Jon might turn against the watch. So he staged the fight and let Jon kill him to give Jon street cred with the wildlings. That’s why Quoron’s last words to Jon are “we are the watchers on the wall”. To remind Jon he’s a brother of the nights watch even if he’s pretending to be a turncoat

    "Pig shit" was Bronn's estimation of the potential effectiveness of using wildfire as a battlefield tactic. He wasn't privy to Tyrions idea of burning the fleet. He thought they were going to try to deploy it to the city walls, which he foresaw as a bad idea, that would lead to collateral damage, friendly FIRE quite literally.

    In the books, it’s clearer why she didn’t go with the hound. He would often threaten her life and on the night of the battle pulled a knife on her (she was only 11 or 12 at the time) but the showrunners chose to make him more likable so her reasoning doesn’t make as much sense.

  • @sitting_nut

    even in show it is more viewer prejudice, show makes it clear hound just betrayed the king he was meant to protect in middle of a of war zone . there is no guarantee hound can protect her or himself . also as she said if stannis won she would have been ok . sansa made the best decision out of available ones in both occasions.

  • @SpitFir3Tornado

    @SpitFir3Tornado

    I think you're looking at it knowing what happens though. There is no guarantee she would be safe going with the Hound. He's trying to flee a city under siege as an oathbreaker and enemy of the crown and the besiegers. Even then, there isn't much guarantee of safety outside the city. If she can stay hidden & barred in her room until Stannis takes the keep, she will probably be safe, Stannis is an honourable man and her father died for trying to defend his right to the throne so it makes sense he would treat her well and Shae tells her as much as well. She has no idea Tywin and the Tyrells are going to arrive to break the siege and any of this is going to happen.

  • @IshtarNike

    @IshtarNike

    4 ай бұрын

    @@SpitFir3Tornadoyeah I dunno why this is so hard to understand. The hound is a strange scary man. Even in the show, the way he behaves towards her is odd and threatening enough that no little girl would or should trust him enough to go with him. Let's be honest, it's clear he has a thing for Sansa. Who's to say he won't try and make a move once they're alone travelling in the middle of the woods? And even if we as the audience basically know he wouldn't because we can see more of his character than Sansa can, the fact of the matter is travelling around the country in war time as a woman with only one man to protect you (yes the hound is formidable but he's not exactly a one man army) is incredibly dangerous. The whole point of the stories is that they're fairly realistic. A girl like Sansa knows that odds are she has better odds of surviving in Kings Landing as a pawn than she does out in war torn countryside attempting to travel probably hundreds of miles before she can reach true safety. She absolutely made the smarter choice.

  • @lolrirs7754

    @lolrirs7754

    Ай бұрын

    Yes, in the books the Hound pulls a knife on 12 year-old Sansa and sorta acts like he might rape her until she sings him a song. I wonder why she decides not to go travelling across the war-torn countryside with him! In the books she's desperately wishing for Robb to come and save her, but she also starts to hatch an escape attempt with Ser Dontos, that drunken knight whose life she saved in the S2 premiere. At one point she takes a knife with her to go meet with him in the godswood, which is a huge step for her, not being naturally bold in the way that Arya is. I find the adaptation choices for Sansa so frustrating, because I understand that it's difficult to effectively translate a character whose early development is mostly internal into a visual medium prioritizing action, but then they cut out some important places where she does act.

    The Qhorin and Jon fight was a act to get the wildings to trust Jon. They had discussed it in a previous episode. If Jon didn't kill him then the wildings would have likely killed Jon and tortured Qhorin and then eventually kill him. Going out this way was better for the half hand. Also in the books Jon does admit that if he had wanted to Qhorin could have easily killed him so he let Jon win.

    What I think, is the reason for Sansa not going with The Hound (or little finger). If she fled Kings Landing, she would be called a Traitor, like her Father. Sansa have been brought up as a Noble Lady, she can't survive on her own, with Her dress etc. Unlike Arya that have had some weapon training. Every man in King Landling to the way to the North would know who she is. Just aswell as everyone knew who Jammie Lannister are in the North. Capturing her would bring a lot of Money. Remember there is several Weeks travel from Kings Landing to the North. Every Sellsword, Bounty Hunter etc. would try and catch her. By staying she keeps the appearance (to Joffrey), that she is Loyal to the Lannisters. That is my theory on why she stays. Also The Hound & Little Finger does not seems like the people with the most trust worthy history.

    The books have a lot more detail when Dany goes into the House of the Undying. One of the rooms she looks into describes “a feast of corpses. Savagely slaughtered, the feasters lay strewn across overturned chairs and hacked trestle tables, asprawl in pools of congealing blood. Severed hands clutched bloody cups, wooden spoons, roast fowl, heels of bread. In a throne above them sat a dead man with the head of a wolf. He wore an iron crown and held a leg of lamb in one hand as a king might hold a scepter.” If you know, you know 😑

    I felt a little bad for Doreah and having to get locked into the vault with Xaro. Yes,she betrayed Dany. But, If you go back and look at the scene where Dany , Doreah and Irri are looking at the blue dress Xaro gave her, Dany instructs Doreah to get close to Xaro to get information because “happy men talk”. Dany didn’t realize that by Doreah’s nature as a “professional” she might either be opportunistic or easily seduced by Xaro’s false wealth. Perhaps Dany should have kept an eye on Doreah.

Apparently Dany told Doreah to sleep with other men around the city to hear gossip about Xaro, not to sleep with Xaro himself. So like me, you're a Bad Viewer. The truth, apparently, is the exact opposite of what was shown on screen. It is known.

    Hey Ashley I love your questioning of Sansa's mindset to stay in King's landing. --------- What makes the GOT so brilliant is that, it's a psychological analysis of different characters, different people in different scenarios.-------- Sansa is a study in the prisoner psychology, in which she's torn between staying with her captors and knowing the punishment to be dished out or venturing into the unknown for freedom. -------- She knows the comforts of Kings Landing versus fear of the outside world, which has its own discomforts. ------- Plus it wasn't a trusted friend who offered to take her to find her mother, it was the Hound, who she fears. George R. R. Martin didn't make the decision clear cut for Sansa. -------- Which most of his decisions in life come to us as we often have to make decisions based on imperfect information given by imperfect people. ------- I really love how Ashley keeps drilling into this idea of Sansa not wanting to leave Kings Landing she did it in episode 9 and episode 10. ------- Another great reaction. Jon’s fight with Qhorin Halfhand was real, even if the reason behind it was a lie. Qhorin knew he had no chance of survival as a captive of the wildlings, but there was a chance to save Jon Snow. That chance largely depended on if they could convince the wildlings that Jon was a traitor. Qhorin’s emotions in the fight were real, too, (even if they weren’t directed at Jon per se), but he used them like a practiced actor to sell the lie. When Jon hesitated, Qhorin deliberately baited him into delivering the killing blow. It was enough, if barely, to persuade the wildlings not to execute Jon for the time being.

    When the time comes, I hope you explain to the girls the difference between the Night King, the White Walkers, and the Wights . That Wights are undead that can be killed by fire if alone, White Walkers can only be killed by Dragonglass or Valyrian Steel and that the Night King is completely what he was created to be. Because I feel that for the girls all the undead are White Walkers even though it was explained by Lord Mormont already in the first season when he was attacked that it wasn't WW.

    The whole one blast, two blasts, three blasts thing doesn't make sense. You hear a blast, and you think it's rangers returning, so you put the kettle on and open the gate for them, then you hear another, so it's wildings attacking, so you take the kettle off the fire and close the gate, and run to get your weapons, THEN you hear the third blast, and you've just spent valuable time putting the kettle on and taking it off, and fetching useless weapons. It's like someone invented a doorbell/smoke alarm/pacemaker low-battery alert. One ring - someone at the door. Two rings - house is on fire. You should have left one ring ago! Three rings - your heart is about to stop. You should have been plugging in the power cord two rings ago.

    @@laterrydorsey303 Well Hallyne does say his order doesn't deal in pig shit but, Bron makes it pretty clear that men selling some kind of pig poo derivitive as a napalm like substance and seems well aware of the problems in deploying a very flammable substance. The pyromancer never said pig shit was not involved at all he said they don't deal in it. That could mean it's not just pig poo in a jar. I'd go with Bron having an inkling of how it's made and wouldn't interpret the pyromancers statement to mean no pig poo was used anywhere in it's production. Fire given form means nothing and no other components are even hinted at as far as I know. How are you so sure it's not used in the production of wildfire?
