This was crazy - and fun! Layne is definitely a mad genius to come up with this - The Charismatic Voice has an interview with Layne, talking about this video - and the crazy amount of layering that went into it, really worth a watch! BTW - the part where Cesar 'steals' Geoff's voice, the bass part was actually Layne! 😂

I agree the interview is worth the listen. Lots of things in this that I would have never noticed or heard. He is indeed a genius. And the high voice after is actually from Rachel.

I love this video: Notice that everyone was panicking in the end while Ceasar was practically dancing while things go bad. Also, the ending is the Ultimate Mike Drop! So much fun!

This is indeed a follow up to their Hall of the Mountain King video. A glimpse into the mind of Layne. A scary place I suspect. He told The Charismatic Voice that he was dealing with something like 140 tracks to create this These characters are known as the Grundels. NB: A grundel is the name of a fish, it's a word that means a small, ugly, or unpleasant person or thing. It's also a slang term for the perineum.

That's really cool. And somehow I'm not really surprised by the amount of tracks. A bit of Layne madness certainly seems to be a good thing.

This song guves me the vibes of the Sorcerer's Apprentice, but with the Sorceress is around to keep the Apprentices under control. I love how everyone is paniced at the end except Rachel who knew where the last page was because during the Can Can (which did you notice Cesar was doing the Can Can kicks) after she got the book back from Eli a "Loose" piece of paper was sticking out that she grabbed. That and Geoff's facial expression where hilarious. Thanks for your reaction 😊

Great review! It was interesting to me that Rachel had the only words of this video right at the end, “DONE” and “HMMNNPH” and then turning, she sauntered off! HILARIOUS 🤗 I love VoicePlays’ theatrics!

So many little favorite bits! I especially love the way 2001 blends into the Can Can. I doubt I would ever have noticed the similarity between the songs on my own! I also get a kick out of Cesar making ‘motorboat’ sounds during Blue Danube. How appropriate! And I find Layne’s trilling giggle purr during that song to be so CUTE!

The sheet music is correct in the sense of notation of that period, rather than modern notation. And the notation above the first note is accurate- it's a mordant (or inverted mordant), which is only three pitches.

This was filmed at Layne’s studio, Pattycake Productions. Layne and Tony hauled in 32 trees and another 10 hand painted tree trunks to create the set. (They’ve had to bug bomb regularly to get rid of all the creepy crawlers - on their first shoot for Pattycake one actor found two caterpillars on his wig!). They did it all for a couple of Pattycake Villians Lair videos and for this. It was supposed to have been cleared out last month, but their lead actress for another shoot had to cancel due to an injury, so they are stuck with it awhile longer.

It wouldn't surprise me if Layne and Tony "borrowed" some trees from Geoff as well. As Kathy once said, Geoff has a tendency to overstock on trees for their studio.

  • @Wildecat10

@@ForeverDegenerate No. These weren’t Christmas trees. They were large - formerly live - trees. And the tree trunks were also large and heavy. Not something Geoff would have had. (Unless a storm took down a tree in his yard)

I've seen there's (naturally) a large amount of overlap of sets and such between Voiceplay and Pattycake. I'm quite sure I never said christmas trees either, or were you talking about Kathy? :) In any case this was such a wonderfully funny and amazing production. :)

No actual words in the backing of _In The Hall Of The Mountain King_ - Layne just wrote a set of unrelated syllables for them to chant. It does offer an interesting and unusual effect.
