    No one can sing it Kenny could! RIP He def had masterful control of instrument. His ability to add the gravel when he wanted it & his ability to tell a story & convey the emotions of the song in such a way as to completely draw the listener in is top level. And yes, he had a beautiful vibrato! And while I admire your resolve to love & be good with yourself first, there will come a day when you will fall in love & it's ok to if they become your soulmate...your everything. That is the way we are designed, to seek out our other half...and it doesn't mean that you lose yourself in the process. Your happiness still counts solely on yourself... but that other person can become more important than yourself. That's when you've reached true selflessness...when you've reached the pinnacle...the reason we're here. To learn to love... and to do it selflessly. To put Somerton else's life & happiness before your own does not mean that you have to lose yourself. I hope you keep that in mind & don't close yourself off to love.

    You really ought to dig on some of Kenny Rogers' "story"-type songs. He sang a lot of the other type of "ballad": a song that tells a complete little story. "Lucille," "Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town," and my favorite, "Coward Of The County," a song about exactly how much a peaceful man is willing to take. "You coulda heard a pin drop/When Tommy stopped and locked the door..."

  • @flubblert

    @flubblert

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@darksoul479 the song was written and produced by Lionel Richie. Kenny says it right there in the introduction to the song. As the story goes Lionel wrote it for the Commodores who rejected it so he gave it to Kenny Rogers and the rest is history. It was one of Roger's biggest hits but it also helped catapult Lionel's solo writing producing singing career. Lionel recorded it himself in the 90s but Kenny Rogers version was the much bigger hit and is the one you still here today on easy listening radio stations everywhere.

    Kenny's sexy raspy voice teamed with Lionel's incredible lyrics are a one, two punch to your heart & soul. This is an awesome rabbit hole for you to explore further down. May I suggest the following - Through the years, She believes in me, You decorated my life, We've got tonight, Don't fall in love with a dreamer, & his famous duet with Dolly Parton on Islands in the stream (written by the Bee Gees). Kenny left us early last year at the age of 80...RIP. He was an incredible story teller & you can see that in some of his biggest hits - The Gambler, Lucille, & Coward of the county (my 2nd favorite Kenny Rogers song after Lady), among many others...I think you will really like Coward of the County - it's one hell of a roller coaster story told in song that gets ya fired up for sure! :-)

    Jay Rah, you never went crazy over a girl in high school or college? By the time, I graduated college it happened to me like 3 times. Painful. I also had another girl that I did not want to date in high school. Even years later, I still feel bad that I hurt some girls when I was younger. And some girls hurt me. I was a football player, musician and all that. But we are all human.

    My man, I was 14 when I met my 'Lady'. It was all this song said it was... Sadly, I moved to a different country. I married someone else, and it wasn't like this song said it was. 19 years later, we got divorced, and I found 'lady' through Facebook. We hadn't talked or seen each other in almost 30 years. She was now married with 2 daughters, I was divorced with 2 sons.... But she's still my lady. And she will always be.
