In the 1980’s I was one of those ladies hollaring in the audience. He was an amazing singer !
Kenny was one of the greats, not just as a country artist but as an artist and entertainer period. RIP. 🙏

AND he made some great chicken!!!!
Kenny was pure class. I’ve loved his music since I was a child. His voice is like butter!!! The fact that he admitted that Lionel wrote this song showed exactly what kind of man he was. RIP.
No one can sing it Kenny could! RIP He def had masterful control of instrument. His ability to add the gravel when he wanted it & his ability to tell a story & convey the emotions of the song in such a way as to completely draw the listener in is top level. And yes, he had a beautiful vibrato! And while I admire your resolve to love & be good with yourself first, there will come a day when you will fall in love & it's ok to if they become your soulmate...your everything. That is the way we are designed, to seek out our other half...and it doesn't mean that you lose yourself in the process. Your happiness still counts solely on yourself... but that other person can become more important than yourself. That's when you've reached true selflessness...when you've reached the pinnacle...the reason we're here. To learn to love... and to do it selflessly. To put Somerton else's life & happiness before your own does not mean that you have to lose yourself. I hope you keep that in mind & don't close yourself off to love.
This performance brings me to tears every time! Great reaction!!!
Lots of vibrato and his voice echos, so haunting and the words are amazing, I’m so glad you can tear it apart and see the greatness❤️
Seen this live version before... it’s absolute fire! Couldn’t hit play fast enough. Rest In Peace, Kenny Rogers.
Lionel wrote this for Kenny Rogers to sing. Women love that growl!!!!
"rare occasion where the life performance is probably better than the studio version" YES! That's what I've always said!!!
You are exactly right. This live performance is better than the studio version.
Kenny Rogers actually started off in Rock & Roll! Lol. He didn't get into other genres till the late 70's/80's. Great performer..... He is missed! RIP Kenny Rogers! 🙏😢❤
A lady friend once told me that when Kenny Rogers sand 'Lady' there wasn't a dry seat in the house!
Beautiful song. Lionel Richie actually wrote and produced this song, he sung another version of this. You should react to 'Truly' by Lionel Richie. Ooof, that's gorgeous ❤️

Lionel actually wrote the song specifically for Kenny. They were very close friends. Miss Kenny...
What a SONG. Thanks LIONEL RICHIE FOR WRITING this .RIP KENNY THANKS SIR.
Corded mic woth no auto tune. Amazingly beautiful!!!
❤❤❤ one of my favorite live performances. Smooth cat. Rip Kenny
She Believes In Me, You Decorated My Life🙏🏻
Should really check out the video of Kenny and Lionel singing this together...tears! Kenny was a storyteller, along with his touring partner for a while and the Woman of the Century - Dolly Parton!
You really ought to dig on some of Kenny Rogers' "story"-type songs. He sang a lot of the other type of "ballad": a song that tells a complete little story. "Lucille," "Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town," and my favorite, "Coward Of The County," a song about exactly how much a peaceful man is willing to take. "You coulda heard a pin drop/When Tommy stopped and locked the door..."

After Lionel wrote this song for Kenny, they became fast friends for over thirty years.
He is so cool, even men like him❤️
He only guy that can sing this song, he made it his own
Haha. I love the reaction to his ending like he didn’t just kill that. Thank you. Thank you.
alot of people are alive today because of that song.
Such a beautiful rendition of that Lionel Richie classic. RIP Mr. Rogers.

Lionel Richie classic? you could be right, but I'm pretty sure that Kenny Rogers came up with the song "Lady."
@flubblert

@@darksoul479 the song was written and produced by Lionel Richie. Kenny says it right there in the introduction to the song. As the story goes Lionel wrote it for the Commodores who rejected it so he gave it to Kenny Rogers and the rest is history. It was one of Roger's biggest hits but it also helped catapult Lionel's solo writing producing singing career. Lionel recorded it himself in the 90s but Kenny Rogers version was the much bigger hit and is the one you still here today on easy listening radio stations everywhere.

There is a video of them performing it together that is lovely. Lionel is funny copying Kenny's a-a-a-a-and and he gives Kenny a big kiss on the cheek. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJdsq7BmdtG4mcY.html
Kenny was awesome
Love Kenny. R.I.P. Lionel was his best friend
Classic.👍 Check out The Gambler for another Kenny Rogers classic.
Your honesty and candor are refreshing.
The funny thing is that while Kenny was trying to record the song, Lionel was finishing the song while in the men's room sitting on the toilet where he did his "best work". Check the video out here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJdsq7BmdtG4mcY.html You won't regret it. Kenny and Lionel were close friends and when Kenny died Lionel was shook by it.
I bought the CD and left it in my SUV some years back and my son was using my truck and listened to the whole cd and loved it. "Lady" is definitely one of my all-time favorite songs. But I also like "You Decorated my life" and "She believes in me."
Dude, love your reactions.
A much lesser known Lionel Richie song but one of his most spectacular songs is Wandering Stranger.
Love your deepnest in this song, I also love his vibrato ❤️you get it
Kenny's sexy raspy voice teamed with Lionel's incredible lyrics are a one, two punch to your heart & soul. This is an awesome rabbit hole for you to explore further down. May I suggest the following - Through the years, She believes in me, You decorated my life, We've got tonight, Don't fall in love with a dreamer, & his famous duet with Dolly Parton on Islands in the stream (written by the Bee Gees). Kenny left us early last year at the age of 80...RIP. He was an incredible story teller & you can see that in some of his biggest hits - The Gambler, Lucille, & Coward of the county (my 2nd favorite Kenny Rogers song after Lady), among many others...I think you will really like Coward of the County - it's one hell of a roller coaster story told in song that gets ya fired up for sure! :-)
Such a great reaction, Jay. I appreciate your comments. His voice was a rough, fine, reliable thing that made every sound around it feel smooth. The grain of his timbre was genial and generous that way, and it gave his voice tremendous reach.
A great wedding song and anniversary song
He started out soft and smooth ended up yelling for her
That's from the heart amen
Lady? Great song.
Till the next time we say goodbye, by the rolling stones
You should check out Lionel Richie and Kenny Rogers singing Lady together they were best friends for 32 years Rest in Peace Kenny Rogers you will be missed I Loved your Reaction God bless you
Lovin' this from London UK, Kenny, PURE CLASS! Beautiful song, incredible singer, RIP Brother x
Like butter
Beautiful song! Kenny Rogers was the only country music I could ever stomach. His duets with all the ladies are worth checking out also.
Great take 👍
He did one with an a capella group call Home Free, just a few years before he passed. It's called Children, Go Where I Send Thee. And it is amazing. The Silver Fox could sing the phone book and not leave a dry seat in the house.
Great reaction. Hope you find it some day!❤️🤘🏻
Thank you
Thank you 😆
It’s a beautiful, heartfelt song. I hope you will find that special lady in your life who’s kind, loving, and God-fearing.. Do not settle for anything less👍❤️
That was great. He has an inbuilt distortion pedal in his throat and can summon up vocal fry with ease. Only 21! Good luck young man, hope you have a successful and happy future.
Always good to see you J! You rock.

Jay Rah, you never went crazy over a girl in high school or college? By the time, I graduated college it happened to me like 3 times. Painful. I also had another girl that I did not want to date in high school. Even years later, I still feel bad that I hurt some girls when I was younger. And some girls hurt me. I was a football player, musician and all that. But we are all human.
My man, I was 14 when I met my 'Lady'. It was all this song said it was... Sadly, I moved to a different country. I married someone else, and it wasn't like this song said it was. 19 years later, we got divorced, and I found 'lady' through Facebook. We hadn't talked or seen each other in almost 30 years. She was now married with 2 daughters, I was divorced with 2 sons.... But she's still my lady. And she will always be.
We lost too many greats in 2020.
