    After rewatching a few times, I realized a few things I missed on my initial listen that made this even deeper. Till dying at the end and accepting death was a hard hitting scene. I initially thought he was "healing" but realizing he succumbed to the heartbreak was a feeling many of us have unfortunately felt. The way the band was there for him in his last moments proved just how strong their bond was/is. It was a wonderful depiction of heartache and brotherhood. Absolutely one of my favorite Rammstein songs now. THANK YOU for the recommendation!

    Here is a small but important mistake in the translation. This is a song in which the band is the theme and not a woman. The German "sie" does not stand for "her", but for "them". "dahin wo ich sie (die Band, Gruppe von Leuten) zuletzt geseh'n" "There were I lost see them (the band or group of people)" This becomes even clearer when the second verse speaks of trenches without life. War, soldiers, comrades. No woman. The band was already on the verge of disintegration. But then they have ended their differences of opinion, have become more tolerant of each other, because "without you I can not be"

    @@TomTomson81 interesting comment, but this is only one view of interpretation. The Songtitel is "ohne dich" Without you and not "ohne euch" without them. So it`s still possible to adress this song to a single person. So it`s just another example of the multiple possible interpretations.

    The director wanted to show that Till died from internal injuries but didn't know quite how to show it so thats why they show his gangrene feet towards the end as an indicator of why and/or how he died and of course the entire group helping him reach the summit is them always helping each other and being equal and working more like a close knit family more than just your average typical rock group.

    I repeat this comment: they already said that they composed this song when after many disputes between them and going to group psychological therapy to fix their differences, they decided to continue, all or none was their resolution, Richard Kruspe, who created and joined the band, mentioned that after the success, everything began to get out of control, drugs, women and exes, so he had to become more dominant and controlling over the rest, which caused many problems, the song talks about how much they loved and needed the rest of the band but at the same time they hurt each other, , in the video you can see Richard in front pulling the rest and Til in the back being a heavy load🙂

In particular the live version from 1996 at 100 Jahre so you can see their humble beginnings. 100 Jahre is a landmark Rammstein concert marking their 100th gig as a band, the show also had the now infamous accident which lead to Till training to be a pyrotechnician. The song ist about the relationship between the band members of Rammstein and also can be seen as expressing mourning over the loss of a loved person. Rammstein wanted to break up one or the other time and that is why they had even therapy sessions. But they always decided to stay together. For Heitmann (film direktor of this video) , the emotional message in the video is very important; Ohne dich shows unity in the band. Richard said that the most important thing is to stick together, everything else is irrelevant.Therefore Rammstein is one of the few Bands that have managed to play in the same line up and with the same members for almost 30 years since they were founded. The funny thing is that Flake (Keyboarder) still denies that he is a member of Rammstein, because he actually never wanted to be part of Rammstein from the start because the music was too "simple" for him. Till and Richard always wanted to start solo careers. In addition, the Rammstein members constantly argued about every song, every video and every live show, how it could be done better. It actually almost came to a break up with the "Mother" video. Till shot the video alone without really involving the other band members. Rammstein not only had one group therapy with a psychologist over the years, but nevertheless they could never be without each other There were 5 or 6 ideas for this video. Some of the band members wanted to make a video at sea, others wanted to make it in the mountains. Richard wanted to make a video based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Match Girl" because it was the only fairy tale that made him cry, but the idea was rejected.. According to Joern Heitmann (film director), this is the most emotionally engaging video he has ever made with the band. For the video, the band members grew beards, because in the mountains there is no time to shave. Flake was the only one to have an artificial one. During the making of, Till can be seen wearing a shirt which makes fun of Flake and his beard. The climbing scene was shot on one of the climbing walls next to a parking lot, and the band could go as high as they wanted to. The band was accompanied by an experienced climbing team who taught them how to correctly climb the wall. The video was shot at +20 degrees. The snow was artificial, and the snow storm was created with the help of machines. Emanuel Fialik's assistant expressed his concerns about whether any of the band members would get hurt while shooting a video in the middle of the tour. Heitmann claimed that no one would have been able to stop Till from playing the falling scene. The original idea was that Flake would have to carry Till together with Schneider at 3,400 m above sea level, which was physically impossible for him. Richard admits that everyone always fights for their own scene when shooting videos and everyone wants to be able to play a part, so it's hard to work with them on the set.

    The video might be about the relationship between the band members, but the lyrics originally refer to a single person, not a group, so the mourning over the loss of a loved person (a woman) is more likely. Rammstein again tell two stories at the same time,one with the lyrics, one with the video.

  • @antivanti

    @antivanti

    Жыл бұрын

    @@GialloMania It could be that the idea started with the struggle with members of the group being in the band but also not wanting to quit the band and that the lyrics were generalized and merged with other similar struggles, chemical addiction, romantic relationships etc.

    the good thing about Rammstein is that everyone can have their own interpretation. I lost my mother last year, and now for me the "she" is my mother, the forest and the trees are life, age, and I arrived in the middle of it, where I saw her for the last time, and then night came and it covered everything on the edge of the forest, both her life and my vision that one day I will reach that limit or if I will give up sooner.... And it hurts me, it hurts. Without her I don't exist, but with her I was also alone, because I never fully opened up to her and she never stopped to listen to me, but she always did her best for her family and people... Without her it's much worse. Without her I count my time, I long to be someone, to find a purpose, to try to live even with the veil of the night covering my forest... With her time was not worth because she held me, she was afraid to let me go and live, I always wanted my family close by. But now that she's gone, time stands still at that moment and I could never move on.

    This song is one of the craziest for me. it came out when i was 14-15 years old. During this time, I fell madly in love with a girl. We often spent time together but never became a couple. I've heard this song a lot when I've missed her, really a lot. School was over and we parted ways. at the age of 21 we reconnected and became a couple. I even wrote her a poem of my own. And she gave me a son after 4 years of relationship... Unfortunately, time has left its mark and the strong, self-confident girl from before was broken. we kept fighting about nothing. one day i came home from work and the woman i loved so much was lying on the bathroom floor with her arms cut open. when I saw that I realized that She lives as a person but her character I fell in love with is long dead. When I hear this song "Ohne Dich" I still experience the girl from before. I can smell her hair, hear her voice and see her smile before my eyes. I'm 31 today and I still cry every time I hear this song. Translated with google sorry for mistakes.

They other guys knew he was dieing of gangrene so they made sure they got him up there. And he died looking out on the horizon, a final goal accomplished. Also, you spoke about attention to detail: the goggles Till wore is one of their oldest props/costumes. He wore them in their very first music video and it's made several appearances on stage, especially earlier in their career. This video did feel like a mini movie. I wouldn't like to reveal too much, but to be honest: That's no show for Fans of clean and clear sounds. When the whole band plays, it's just a wall of brutal noise. And the base...well, it feels like being drunk in front of a broken, massive subwofer (and big as the Empire Statement Building). But it's worth every cent of it. Of cause, there is all the fire-stuff, but it's more than that. The lightshow is incredible, The whole performance of Till is realy great, and watching Flake doing his "Flake-thing" has nearly deserved to see two shows- one for the band, one for Flake. It is not only a concert - it's realy a show in the original meaning. . So - have fun. I had.

On top of that, they sing in French. Beautiful song with an extraordinary and heartbreaking twist in the video. Keep on your great work and phantastic content! Stay safe and a huge hug from Germany!!!

    This is one of those really cool songs where you can take it so many ways and people with entirely different experiences from you can relate on an emotional level just like you but from totally different experiences. You can perceive it as toxic love to an addiction. A sad love story. A story of loss of a friend or family member. Not being able to accomplish something without those people who support you. etc etc And they just wrote it so well. It’s a beautiful song

    When they were engraving something on the plate in the tent, his comrades already knew that he wouldn't make it back alive from this mountain since his injuries were too severe. When people die on a mountain these kinds of plates were left behind as a memorial to the person they lost there. When Till was looking outside the tent to the peak of the mountain, it can be seen as he still wanted to achieve that final goal, despite knowing the situation he was in. So at the peak, he could finally die after achieving this goal. Sometimes you need help from others to lift yourself up from the bottom to reach your goals. Really a nice ballad. :) Greetings from Germany :)

    What I love about Rammstein is that they’re friends before everything. They’re friends that became World famous. You can truly see how much they appreciate each other. I mean Richard Kruspe has a daughter with Till Lindemann’s ex wife. She carries Till’s last name which is funny. The Emigrate song “Lets go” is basically a love song about Richard & Till’s friendship. It’s a duo between Richard and Till. You def should check it out! Emigrate is Richard’s side project. There is unfortunately no official video. Also Paul, Flake, and Schneider were members of the East German punk band “Feeling B” in the late 1980’s. So they’ve known each other even before the Berlin wall came down.

    The fact alone they visulalized an emotion as climbing a mountain and his friends trying to help him over this mountain is art. We all know heartbreak. And we know people that experience it. We know what it is like to either being unable to accept help or being on the other side when we want to help someone out of his emotional misery and they're just unable to let us. To me this is what this video depicts masterfully.

    I can feel your emotions in this reaction. Incredible video, amazing song. I'm so happy you've reacted to this. I can't wait for more Rammstein! There's a detail regarding Till's goggles, as he wears these same goggles in the original Du Riechst So Gut video. Also, the candle flame extinguishing at the end to signify that Till reached the summit and passed away, but reached his destination through perseverance and support from his (yes bandmates, but I think in this case) family. You can try to go through this life alone, but the struggles are nearly impossible to overcome if you don't have love and support from others. In this video, even though Till fell behind, they waited for him, tried to save him from falling, andwhen they couldn't, went back for him, lifted him up and carried him the rest of the way. Check this song off the list I sent you! Can't wait for more, and watch Haifisch after pretty much all the other videos!

    In the video, Til doesn't close his eyes and "put his head off" because he realizes "everything is going to be OK." His bandmates carry him up the mountain so that, having achieved the goal of reaching the top where his immortal soul can see Forever, he can die there. The night before the final ascent, it is obvious that Til is mortally injured from the fall. All about he rock pile outside are what appear to be metal pie plates left by previous climbers to commemorate the accomplishment, and memorialize those, like Til, who died trying. That explains the tapping you hear as the Rammstein climbing party faces the stark choice. Take the dying Til back to civilization, leave him behind at the base camp--perhaps to die alone--while they make the final ascent, or make the supreme effort to carry him to the top of the mountain. The cross at the top is a nice touch.

  • @chriswillis2181
    @chriswillis21815 ай бұрын

    He was tapping in a message for the man who fell. They knew he would die before making it down. Oftentimes climbers will mark fallen comrades with a marker. It's such a deep scene. Knowing he was going to die, they decided to make a trek to to top, so he could have one last look. Tapping out someone's grave marker while he is dying is a difficult situation. Watching someone die knowing you cannot help (the climber would certainly die before he could get medical attention....if the climb down didn't) is very tragic.
