Struggle Jennings has a truly amazing story. He grew up the only child of a single mom who was only 16 when he was born, but with Waylon Jennings as his step grandfather. So he lived in the ghetto and then went to Waylon's mansion on the weekends to hang out with his uncle Shooter who was only a year older. His father was murdered when he was 10. He got jumped into the Gangster Disciples when he was 15. His big famous drug bust that everyone talks about wasn't his first but it was his only federal arrest and his last run-in with the law. When he got out, his wife was an addict selling herself on Backpage and his kids were in foster care. He changed his life to be a better father, got his kids back, and eventually married his wife's best friend. His music is incredible, but his life is equally fascinating to me.

Waylon was an outlaw country singer. Helluva artist. Also prior to this he played bass for rocker Buddy Holly who tragically died in a plane crash in the 50’s along with Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. Struggle did time in Tennessee dealing with drugs and violence. Real talk. Try Waylon’s song “I’ve always been crazy (but it’s kept me from going insane)”

This was the first song I ever heard by any of these dudes. Got me through alot of shit. This is life in the slums and for the broken hearts.

This is the first video of Struggle that I discovered 10+ years ago. I was already a fan of his grandpa, Waylon, and his original version of this song, and I was impressed by this song.. Then I looked in the comment section at the time, and saw people talking about how he just got sentenced to 5 years in prison. I was bummed, thinking it would feel like forever before he got out. But I forgot about it and time seemed to fast forward, and I rediscovered him on a great track with Jelly Roll called "Fall in the Fall". I was blown away by how much he changed physically and vocally. Been watching his videos ever since.

He wasn't caught with any cocaine. He was convicted solely on wiretapped conversations. Struggle and Yelawolf are not related.

And ironically, the feds busted him and sent him to prison right after this music video was published. Interesting fact: Struggle tricked the guards in prison and managed to record a music video in prison.. I forget the name of the song though. Maybe someone will reply with the song name.

Same day? Dang.. I knew it was close, but didn't know that. I discovered him not very long after it released. I was already a fan of Waylon and the original. I think I found it through searching for Waylon's version. I was excited to discover it, because I liked it. Then I scrolled down in the comments and read everyone talking about how he just got thrown into prison for 5 years for the bust. I was bummed, because I thought those 5 years would drag by before he finally got out and possibly make music again. But I forgot about it, and time seemed to had fast forward and I rediscovered him with Jelly on "Fall in the Fall".

When he said in the song I couldn't learn from his mistakes I had to make my own a pic of Waylon popped on the screen real fast. Besides the murders lots of truth. Waylons song is a drug bust as well but much different circumstances.

Jellyroll and struggle have both served time in prison for selling Crack when they were younger . They got out of prison and changed their ways and started selling music
