And the lyrics of the song were part of the joke as well. He basically said that he could rap fast (other “rappers” were saying he couldn’t) and mocking the fast rappers by saying nonsense. We all know he is lyrically very strong and goes into depth way more. (While Suga is more known for the fast rapping and J-Jope is more known for his swag/riding the beat well)

There's a reason why people were afraid to battle rap against Namjoon when he was only 15 years old. This man is a literal genius, in every sence of the word. He made this song to shut everyone up who told him he couldn't rap or rap fast. It's also a diss to other rappers who think they are amazing: Namjoon's saying that just because you can rap fast doesn't mean you're auomatically a good rapper. Rap is about more than just speed and flow. It's also about word play, meaning behind the lyrics and versatility in your delivery of the rap. No one does it like Namjoon. The funny thing is: at the end, he says 'hit me' in the sense of 'show me what you got in response to this' and no one ever responded. He literally silenced them. God I am so in love with this man

Well RM did flourish in the underground rap scene before he signed with his label. i believe it was said that many were afraid to go against 13 year old RM in a rap battle... This song was clearly from his young wild and angry days. He matured a lot and he still puts people in their place but in a more sophisticated manner.

Joke is basically a comeback to all of those who said he wasn't a good rapper because he couldn't rap fast, in this video he obviously proves them wrong but while he is making a lot of disses there really is no meaning behind all of them and he did that on purpose because he wanted to prove that rapping fast doesn't even mean anything if you don't have a good flow. people would try to shade his rap skills, saying that he had no flow and no speed. So he made this track as a "joke" to show off his flow and speed, and in it he also shades back at that criticism by pointing out that you can rap as fast as you want but if you're just saying nonsense, what's the point? Hence some verses like 'bibbidy bobbedy', he was mocking the rappers. RM's flow is not only nice, it's intelligent and in ways I don't even fully understand because you'd kind of have to get Korean culture and sayings to fully grasp the wordplay. Personally I think he's in the hospital in the MV because he is a "Rap Monster" so they have to contain him, if that even makes any sense.
