They released this as a Tribute to Kenny after he passed. They did a collab with Kenny Rodgers in "Children Go Where I sent Thee", which is also amazing and a true high energy bopper of a song, although for Christmas, it is just that good.

Thanks for the "two-fer!" This is one of HF's quarantine videos -- recorded in their respective homes and then assembled by their sound engineer. You hit the nail on the head when you said "it's so full...you can't stop finding things to hear." That's always the case with HF (and Pentatonix and VoicePlay.) This is just your 2nd HF reaction! They have SOOOOOOO much more great music waiting for you to discover!!! Their cover of "When a Man Loves a Woman" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6StybKmlqq3prg.html ) was released on Valentine's Day two years ago...maybe you can schedule it for one of your Valentine's Day 2023 reactions? Many people consider this to be the all-time best cover of this song...and even better than Percy Sledge's 1966 original.

Tribute to Kenny for sure when your realize it took Home Frees' two stellar bass singers and all the rest of the guys voices (layered) to begin to replicate Kenny's version. Taking nothing away from Home Free here. I'm a bona fide Home Fry, just giving big props to the marvelous Kenny Rogers. RIP good sir.

My name is Mark...that is my wife in the picture...she is a fantastic pianist from Argentina, and I help her with her videos. Anyway, I was brought up going to a Catholic school and from an early age sang in the choir for maybe 5 years. We had boys and girls, and most pieces were 6- or 8-part harmonies along with a massive Pipe organ. Needless to say, harmonies became a thing for me for all my life! In late 2016 I saw Pentatonix in San Jose Ca. and have been a huge fan, but you introduced me to Homefree and I feel like a big thank you is appropriate here.

I think Kenny would have been proud of this cover in his honor. I absolutely love Home Free. They are becoming legendary in their own right. Their talent and skills are insane. Such a great idea to listen to the original version before the remake. So many reactors listen to these without knowing where it came from. They miss out on a lot of the creative involved. Home Free also tend to not rearrange songs from the iconic artists. In respect for the legend. They have also done a Christmas song with Kenny, himself, called Children Go Where I Send Thee. One iconic song they did rearrange a little is Elvira. They actually recorded their version, with the legendary Oak Ridge Boys.

"And somewhere in the darkness, the gambler he broke even. And in his final words I found an ace that I could keep" as he passes away always hits hard for me. I played cards for a living for about 15 years, and this song is just beautifully written in my opinion. The Home Free rendition of this song is just so good. Every song you react to from Kenny Rogers - Merle Haggard - George Jones - Reba MacIntyre- Hank Williams - Emmylou Harris - George Strait - Willie Nelson - Johnny Cash - Patsy Cline .. and the other legends , is about life. These guys just have it figured out. Take any song and it seems that they instinctively know how to restyle it with their voices. And think of the money they save - guitars, drums, keyboards and amps aren’t cheap. For a taste of a completely different style of four part harmony, you should check out The Statler Brothers, a 60s southern gospel quartet who crossed over and became 70s & 80s country superstars. Try their songs Elizabeth, Bed of Roses or More Than A Name On A Wall, a touching tribute to our brothers who never made it home from Viet Nam. Love your reactions and that sweet grin.

AND -- there's an opportunity for another "two-fer!" Watch The Statler Brothers perform their 1965 Grammy-winning song "Flowers on the Wall" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/iWp4z8eLacScmco.html ) and then see how Home Free covered it (at home, during COVID quarantine) 55 years later - kzread.info/dash/bejne/omV1o5OKo9rTmJc.html

@@rcinsley I’ve seen them but I’ll watch them again right now. Thanks Corker. My youngest daughter’s first concert was the Statlers and she’s now 32 and likes a broad spectrum of music but she also has quite a few Statler songs on her phone’s playlist.

This was the first time I have ever heard "The Gambler" from Home Free. That was indeed very good! I would say that it was a better tribute to Kenny Rogers than their version of "Ring of Fire" was to Johnny Cash.

I have purposely not listened to Home Free's cover of this song, because there are certain people that are hard to cover. Kenny Rogers is one of those. I love Home Free, but this is Kenny's song.

Thanks for this reaction. Please checkout Peter Hollens cover of "The Shape of My Heart" with Natural Seven. The original song was by Sting.

For another example of perfect harmonies treat yourself to Little Big Town's "Boondocks"! Be sure to choose the Official Video version for the full impact! I'd love to hear your thoughts on Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd (the greatest Southern Rock band of all time.
