Thanks for doing this Britt. Yes, that is Lee Greenwood. This is his hit song. The Air Force singers are part of a choral group from the Air Force band. I’m a 22 year Air Force veteran and I’m proud of these talented young sergeants!! 😊

Loved, Loved this reaction. Brit you just keep doing what you do. I feel like you were raised in a church going home. You need to react to Home Free’s “How Great Tho Art” video it’s absolutely a spiritual moment. Filmed in the Austrian Alps gorgeous scenery.
When Lee Greenwood sang this at Yankee Stadium in New York after 9/11 is still one of the most emotional performances I’ve ever seen.
Hey Britt, This is a "BANGER!!!" And I'm with you, there is no perfect country, but I'll gladly thank God for allowing me to be born here to enjoy the freedoms that our Constitution grants us and to fully support our veterans as well as our current Men & Women who are serving in all of the Branches of our Armed Forces!!! God Bless The USA!!! Mic-Drop!!! 🎤
U.S. Air Force retired disabled veteran (1973 - 1992). I appreciate your reaction. I was still active duty when Lee Greenwood released this song. It brought tears to my tears back then. This was a great collaboration. Love it !

Agreed
There were no drums Brit. That was Mr. Adam Rupp making the drum sound vocally. Mr. Greenwood decided to re record his song and invite Home Free and the Air Force band to join him. This was recorded during covid. It's just simply beautiful

There are also drums. He isn't doing all the drum sounds. I mean, unless he has like 6 drum voices. LOL
@michaelsoper3610

@@greenshp He does. While he is double-tracked on some studio songs, he actually went through this straight, including the jet overflight sound you hear at the end. He nearly passed out from the performance. His drum sounds and style are renowned globally, and includes not only a full drum kit, but the skill to play a full compliment of techniques (brush strokes, rim shots, etc.), such that I've seen professional drummers react to his videos by saying they'd be hard-pressed to play the same on their kit You'll also be stunned by his 'no'monica and catalog of other sound effects.

@@michaelsoper3610 Interesting! Thanks for that info...
Lee Greenwood still has that strong voice and is now over 80 and was knocking on that door when this was recorded. This is one of those performances where it makes you want to cry. So beautifully done.
I loved this, when Lee Greenwood first brought this out. My first introduction to Home Free was when they recorded this in front of Mt. Rushmore. I thought it was as good as the original and couldn't get better. Then this recording came out.I'm a 72 year old US Army brat. My dad was career Army, served in China/India/Burma. I was born after he was shipped to the Korean War. Listening to this fills me with pride, and I get choked up every time hearing this.
My son is serving and spent the covid years in Germany. My brother, wife, father, uncles, father-in-law have all served (as have I) and this song ALWAYS brings a tear to my eye. They sang this song at church services in boot camp and EVERYBODY sang with them - it was AMAZING! Freedom isn't free, it's been paid for by the lives of the men and women who stood the line to protect it.
Now you need to check out Home Free’s cover of “Only in America”! It shows the people who come to the United States to fulfill their dreams! Another good one, but again, ALL Home Free’s songs & videos are great!
Lee Greenwood is nearly 80 and that voice is as strong as ever. Those were the Singing Sergeants of the Air Force band. There is a video about the making of this recording. It is easy to forget there are no instruments being played. That flyover sound at the end was from the Ruppster!
I'm Canadian and this rendition makes me tear up too! Home Free never disappoints; they upgrade cover songs; and make the original stars shine even brighter on all their collaborations. Keep the Home Free coming!
WITH TIMES BEING WHAT THEY ARE TODAY, WE ALL NEED TO HEAR MORE OF THIS!!!! WE ARE THE GREATEST NATION ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH, STOP DISRESPECTING HER, AND STOP FIGHTING AMONG EACH OTHER!!!! ALLOW THIS SONG TO BE A WAKE UP CALL TO WHO WE REALLY ARE AS AMERICANS!!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
It always costs me a few tissues too. As does Home Free's "Brothers in Arms" and "Everything will be Okay".
most of Home Free music will make you cry. check more of them out 100% worth it. bring tissues
This is one of many collaborations Home Free has done with the song’s original artist. Most notably, Don McLean asked them to join him for a new rendition of American Pie for its 50th anniversary. They also have sung with Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, Kenny Rogers, and several others.
@MrGaryGG48
4 ай бұрын
...and all of those collaborations have been excellent! I don't know how I could listen through any of those performances without smiling and a bit of singing along with them!
From the American Revolution to the Civil War to WWI to WWII to the Korean War to Vietnam, to Afghanistan, " I won't forget the men who died and gave that right (freedom) to me". That's the line that always gets me. Wherever you align yourself, people died so you could. So glad that you get that Britt. Thank you to all veterans and those who serve today.
I love this reaction. Being a 72 year old Air Force Veteran and hearing this song even makes me well up inside. I am super patriotic and when I see a reaction like yours it makes me even more proud and it shows that you understand the cost and price Veterans give to protect all those freedoms you mentioned. Thank you so much for reacting. Keep up the good work!!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
Yes, I get emotional every time I hear this song, especially this version. And, the woman's rich, rich voice? Absolutely beautiful❤
I've never, EVER, made it through this song without crying. It's a beautiful song that means so much...

I have seen Canadian and English react to this and tear up.
Very well stated reaction. Home Free's underrated Beatboxer Adam Rupp's percussion at the ending must be applauded.
So...I cannot listen to this song unless I'm in a certain mood. They play this at every memorial they have for my Dad, and it takes all I have to keep it together. My dad (Capt. Steven Bennett) was killed in Vietnam when he was 26 years old. I was 2. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor, and I am so very proud to be his only child. The words you spoke in this reaction brought me to tears even more so than Lee Greenwood's song did. Thank you for saying everything you said. The fact that these people CAN be disrespectful to others is BECAUSE of the men and women who have given their all to defend them. A little respect from them while they are bashing our country would go a long way. God bless my Dad. God bless ALL who have served. God bless this country. We must stand strong to defend her and those protecting her.
I wish I could like this video a hundred times! This is by far the best version of this song. And as a proud Air Force retiree, it makes me well up too. Of course, Home Free is awesome. And the Air Force Band is awesome. But Lee Greenwood, still being able to sing his ass off at 80 years old, is simply phenomenal. Great reaction!! ♥
You have to check out Home Free, Man Of Constant Sorrow, it will blow your mind they sing Acapella. No Instruments. GOD BLESS EVERYONE.🙏😇❤️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
I cry every time I hear this version. This setting by Darren Rust (the gentleman sitting at the mix board) is an adaptation of the first arrangement Chris Rupp did for Home Free. Arrangement number one in their books. In the video on the making of this recording Darren talks about working on the adaptation, alone in the studio, and crying. Never apologize for that particularly in this case!
Crying with you. I'm a bleeding-heart protesting liberal, and I know there are SO many things about this country that needs improvement - but we're here. We're blessed. We're fighting to make our country even better. And this song makes me cry Every. Single. Time.

I’m a conservative and there’s a lot wrong in our country but I’m with you. We are blessed that we have the ability to debate and communicate. We have freedoms that no one else has in the world and we take them for granted. We shouldn’t hate each other for our differences. We just need to be able to respect and understand each other

The other replies give me hope. We have more in common than we realize. We can build on that to save this country. Hope not hate. The United States of America is the beacon of hope and freedom. It's not perfect. But it's closer to perfect than any other nation to ever exist in human history. It's worth fighting and hoping for.

I’m an independent and I couldn’t agree more. I may hate the labels people use, but I know they use them because they feel it’s what’s best for our country and that’s all we can ask of anyone. Whether or not we agree on what’s best, agreeing that that’s what we all want is a great starting point

No, you’re fighting to destroy this country
Thank you Britt for having all the "feels" over this song! I get choked up over it too. God bless the USA!!
You are not the only one who cried at this. The Air Force Singing Sergeants are so talented. Then add Lee Greenwood and Home Free. How could this be anything except amazing? As a side note, Home Free has an entire album of patriotic songs. The title song, Land of the Free, was written by Tim Foust. The video for that one is pretty freat, too.
You are absolutely right...Lee Greenwood IS like a big hug. And he gives great hugs...met him at a reception after a show one night over 30 years ago...very nice man. (and realizing how long ago it was makes me feel OLD!).
Britt...I am a retired Army veteran (1987-2007). I always love the patriotic songs. Each service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines) has singers, bands, drill teams. You should maybe do some reactions to some of those. The drill teams are AWESOME. Another thing you might consider reacting to is The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier. It is very detailed and disciplined honoring the unknown service members. Check it all out.
This was recorded during quarantine. Yes, the castle is a recording studio in Nashville. The Air Force Band's Singing Sargeants were in D.C., HF's Austin and Tim and Lee Greenwood were in Nashville, And I think Chance was in LA and Rob and Adam in Minnesota. Or maybe all of HF were in Nashville. Yes, Lee Greenwood was the original artist.
One of the best examples of being in different places to make a record is Peter Hollen’s and Home Free’s cover of U2s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”
OH MY GOODNESS!!! HER VOICE ALWAYS CHOKES ME UP!! There is just SOMETHING SO BEAUTIFUL THERE!! And her GORGEOUS SMILE!!! I watch her throughout the video, and she just has this sense of PEACE and JOY and CALM about her...I NEED A HUG FROM HER!! I'M A COMPLETE NERVOUS WRECK!! That's why I LOVE listening to this song - just ANGELIC and OVERFLOWING WITH SUCH AMAZING LOVE FOR THIS COUNTRY!! We aren't perfect, but at least we are free to make our voices heard and YES - WE NEED YOU, DEAREST FATHER IN HEAVEN - YOUR CHILDREN ARE CALLING YOUR NAME - WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS. PLEASE HELP US TO LOVE AS YOU LOVE - NOT WITH YOUR EYES, BUT WITH YOUR HEART. It tears me apart to see division. My sister in law is from Cameroon, I consider her MY SISTER. She and I do not look alike. Her son, my beautiful nephew and Godson, looks so much like her, and I ABSOLUTELY CHERISH THAT BABY BOY OF TWO YEARS!! I AM HIM - HE IS ME - I CANNOT IMAGINE SEPARATION OF ANY KIND - PLEASE JESUS, PUT THAT INTO THE HEARTS OF ALL YOUR CHILDREN!!! That is the prayer of my heart...that is my hope for tomorrow. ❤❤❤
God bless the USA!!! God bless you! TY for your comments and reaction and comments!!!!! I love the USA, this song, Home Free, the armed forces and this collaboration which I had not heard!!!
As the wife of a retired US Army Infantryman, I thank you for your heartfelt words and reaction. Please continue to keep our military men and women and their families in your prayers...love your reactions!

"Does this make you cry?" Every damn time! Every time!
This was so well done that the fact that it was a capella flew under the radar (thank you Adam Rupp for the beat boxed "bass" and "drum" tracks). And thank you, Britt, for being a patriot.
The woman you stopped on talking about her tone made me do the same, stop, back up, listen again. What a beautiful, wrap you in a hug, sweet voice!
I'm 56 Army veteran. I tear up every time I hear this song. The first time hearing this song on July 4th 1985. I was 17 in basic training at Ft Sill Oklahoma. Lee Greenwood sang this song live for us.
I cry Every. Single. TIME. I hear this song! Your beautiful words expresses it all! So LOVE you and your reactions!
Yes! This song makes me cry every single time!!!!! Same with every woman in my family! This song hits you right in the feels!
Thank you for acknowledging the woman signing “Detroit” line. She gets me every time!!
Yup...the first time I heard the richness in her voice at 4:50, I immediately welled up (and replayed those few seconds about 10 times). Her voice is truly gorgeous.
AMEN, Sister! We are SO BLESSED here, and SO MANY forget and can't grasp the importance of that. You are awesome.
Your warmth and caring always permeate your reactions. The fact that your beautiful is easy on the eyes. This is a great tribute to this song.
😢 Great Reaction! God Bless the USA 🇺🇸
This performance is one of my favorites but your commentary lifted it to a whole new level! Thank you
I joined the US Navy in 1992 and it was the first time I had been away from home for such and extended amount of time. While I was in boot camp, every Sunday morning we could go to church service if we chose too and at the end of every service, this song would play and I think every person in the church was singing. It was just a comfort being so far from home and I think the service and the song helped a lot of young sailors out there. 53 years old now and this song still gives me chills and makes be tear up every time I hear it. God Bless the USA and God Bless you.
Hon, there are two patriotic songs that always make me tear up. This one and the National Anthem. I am a naturalized citizen and I have lived in several countries outside of the US and I definitely agree with your statements. I always love your honest heartfelt reactions.
Ok.! Now I love you after that speech.! That was beautiful.!
I love this song, I love what it represents and I'm proud to be American.
Our church played this video on Memorial Day. Everyone was on their feet. Not a dry eye in the house. I think of it as a cry to heaven... God please bless this nation.
Oh the Lee Greenwood version! Yes, thank you! I've watched this 5 times in a row now getting different reactions and plan to continue to into the night! He eats that way too! So do they! and yes, if I'm not actually singing it, I'll be crying. Every. Single. Time.
Young lady, you ARE right. We ARE very blessed. My biggest concern is how OFTEN we foget those things. We MUSTN'T and we CAN'T! ❤🇺🇸
I am 61 years old, was an Army Brat (well, once a Brat, always a Brat), whose earliest childhood memories involve the Berlin Wall because we were stationed there for a while, and seeing your reaction to this incredible rendition of this equally incredible song (thank you, Lee Greenwood), made me emotional. It makes my heart happy any time I see a young adult emote love for this great country and our great God as freely and unapologetically as you. By the way, another video that I would love to see you react to along the same lines as God Bless the USA is the Gaither Vocal Band's Let Freedom Ring. Especially the one in which they are performing at an event honoring First Responders at, I think, Carnegie Hall. You won't be disappointed.
This was just about my very first introduction into Home Free being a huge Lee Greenwood fan when they made this 🥰🇺🇸
Lee Greenwood actually wrote the sing. He's the original singer.
Watch/listen again to this video. When Rob comes in on the line 'from the lakes of Minnesota', it couldn't be more appropriate since Rob is from Minnesota. Same thing with Tim when he starts singing 'across the plains of Texas', given that he is from Texas. One final almost unnoticeable thing about Adam's incredible beat boxing skills - especially beyond his perfection of drum sounds... At the end of the song when everyone is building to a wonderful crescendo, Adam brings in the sound of a jet fly by. To come even half close to the real sound of jets flying overhead is simply amazing. The man's talent is mind-boggling.
no doubt... best reaction this old man has ever seen. T H A N K Y O U
That was President Andrew Jackson's home! It is beautiful! I have been there! Lee Greenwood still sounds as good as ever! And what about HOMEFREE? They are AWESOME, as usual! I have been a fan from their first time on the t.v. show that they won! And of course, the Air Force Band! What else can anyone say! I really have to really brag on HOMEFREE, with this! They have performed with Lee Greenwood on this song many times before, and I am always impressed. However the Air Force Band adds so much to it! I am so very proud to be an AMERICAN!
Thank you for being a caring, proud American. May God bless you.
Thank you.... we do have some freedoms in this country that we need to be so thankful for... we are blessed to be Americans.. yes that is Lee Greenwood.
Tears is your compassion /love of country shinning through ! So you go girl ! Be proud of your tears because i am !
I can't rave about Adam enough! All the sounds he can make with just his voice, especially the jet at the end. Most people miss it.
I'm a red blooded 25 year old American man. And I cry a little, just about every time I hear this song. Every version of it
Britt, about the Air Force band in this song . . . every branch of the military has their own band & choirs. When I was in HS, back in the 60's(!), I went to a concert of the US Marine Band. They are called The President's Own Band. I played clarinet in my HS's band and was very into band music. I played clarinet for more than 20 yrs and loved it. That Band was so great and I can still picture it like it was yesterday! Also, there are lots of videos here on YT that you would just love from about 2014 of the Navy's band and choir. In some of them, they are playing in an outdoor venue (looks like a park) and are playing music from Jersey Boys. That's the smash hit from the Broadway musical about Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons with music from the 60's. I don't know if you've done any of their music or not but you should. They were one of only 2 bands that survived the British Invasion back in the 1960's along with the Beach Boys. The Four Seasons have a long and varied song list and you will love them. Their very first #1 hit was Sherry followed by their #1 hit named Big Girls Don't Cry then their next #1 hit of Walk Like a Man. Three #1s in a row to start their career -- which was a record at the time. Anyhoo, back to about the Navy band -- they sing songs from the play and it is hilarious! They are as talented as this Air Force Band. I recommend anything by one or a bunch of their numbers. Love ya . . . Keep it up. From your Kansas friend, Odie! 🌻 🌻 🌻 ❤
The "gorgeous house" in Nashville is actually Castle Recording Studios in Franklin, TN (a little south of Nashville proper). It was originally a mansion for a Chicago mobster and after his death in the 1940's,it housed several businesses over the years. Eventually in the 80's it was converted to a recording studio.
You are amazing Britt. You always have thoughtful, interesting and emotional reactions to the things you review. As an Air Force veteran I appreciate this version of God Bless the USA and your insight on the performance by this talented group of musicians.
This song from Mr. Greenwood resonated with me from the first time i heard it ... most likely on a military base. I'm a retired airman, then a government contractor, and now an air force civilian. This still pumps me up a lot of years later. To add the AF Band (Singing Sergeants, i think) and Home Free to support Mr. Greenwood and let him sing a new version was icing on the cake. Yes, i watched the premier, and several times since.
Her voice choked you up because it is truly amazing!!! I love your channel and your reaction!
This song and the Star Spangled Banner always make me cry. Love how Adam Rupp makes a jest sound at the end. Great reaction.

I always cry for songs that make me emote strongly! They are amazing! All of them. Loved your reaction, thank you!
Lee wrote it and originally released it in 1984. He's 77 in this video and his voice is even better today than when he originally recorded this song.
Crying says good things about you when hearing this magnificent rendition
It's an emotional song love... if it doesn't elicit emotion then the person doesn't care or isn't really listening. It's who we are. It's what our country is & represents; Liberty. Either one gets it, or they don't. It's why we'll stand together, forever - to defend Her.
Thank you for a wonderful reminder of our freedoms. 4 generations of my family, myself include, served in the US Air Force.
And yes... this makes me cry EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I've enjoyed your reactions without fail, but this reaction amplified my respect for you many 100 fold. Your courage to speak up for our, yes OUR, country, the courage to advocate for your religious beliefs and the courage to show an emotional reaction to this song all show that your character is as sound as anybody I know, or know of. The cherry on the top was when you sang along. Thank you, my dear, and may God bless.
Lee was 70 something when they recorded this. Incredible voice!
Love the song! And this version is amazing! The Air force folks have beautiful voices. But I think the original, with its simplicity and just Lee Greenwood, speaks to my own soul just a little bit more. Worth a listen, imo
The Air Force Band actually divided into several different "groups". These singers are (I believe) known as "The Singing Sergeants". If you're interested in some more from the Air Force Band, I would recommend their rock group "Max Impact". Some of their songs are: Locked and Loaded, Send Me, and I Am An American Airman. And yes, I'm proud to say that I'm an Air Force veteran.
This is one of my all time favorite songs. This version is unreal and yes I also get emotional listening to it. Amazing reaction video. Thank You for letting the emotions just flow.
A Beautiful Reaction ❤🤍💙 We played this song at my Mom's funeral because she loved it so much and it was once of her favorite songs. It always brought a tear to her eye and the funny thing was - she wasn't even American, we're Canadian. This and many American patriotic songs are UNIVERSAL in message and resonate with everyone.
