I miss Delores so much. She was troubled for a significant portion of her adult life....and seemed to be getting back on track when she tragically died. In my opinion, she is one of our great singers.

@@thecook238 I'm Irish. This reactor is a joke. Over 200,000 thousand subscribers and you don't know when Woodstock PART 2 Happened. You're a music reactor! Is everything just a grift? God its F$$King timersome with you people. Either build a music channel and have some knowledge of what you're talking about or F**k Off. The act is jaded. You're not the first to do this.
keening is what it is. Keening (Irish: Caointeoireacht) is a traditional form of vocal lament for the dead in the Gaelic Celtic tradition, known to have taken place in Ireland and Scotland.

Yep. Its hard to find audio of the traditional form of this. Her version is beautiful.
There were three Woodstock festivals in total: 1969, 1994 and and 1999. The first is the version of Woodstock most are familiar with, which was billed as 'An Aquarian Experience: 3 Days of Peace and Music'

This is Woodstock 1999 - marked by profiteering, rapes, assaults, arson and riots. Woodstock 1969 - free love, free times and optimism,.
The "yodel" technique is "keening" - it's an Irish thing that Delores brought to alt-pop stardom. Anytime someone reacts to the Cranberries, I'll always recommend "Daffodils Lament" - it wasn't released as a single (at least in the US), but it is a hauntingly beautiful song with one of my favorite musical shifts ever! It starts of almost oppressive, and then midway through the song it's like a fog clears and the song is joyful and strong and uplifting!
If you like her ethereal, breathy sound you have to react to Linger. Her vocals are just beautiful on that song
...you had me at, "The Cranberries". You can play any of their songs, and I'll be here to watch and listen...still brings me to tears thinking about Dolores, her voice was angelic!

Angelic voice. How did I outlive her? She'll be forever missed but here songs will carry on.
Very true that Dolores and Alanis both have voices you can recognise anywhere. Sinead was too. At least we still have Alanis with us for now.
She was unique. Her presence yeah big and small...just genuine with raw talent.
This is great. Please please listen to the studio version, it evokes the same energy and feeling , if not mor. The music and her voice are just love itself.
I love the cranberries. They were so good they had so many good songs.
I was fortunate enough to see them in their heyday play with Toad The Wet Sprocket in 1995. It was such an amazing show.

(promises) live,,, great performance,,,,one of their best, great band,
Great reaction video! One of my favorite songs from them. Saw them in concert and everyone went crazy when they played this song.
Such a distinctive voice and singing style. In a similar vein to Sinead O' Connor as well as Alanis. It's got this country - yodel-y thing going on also.
Dolores had such an amazing and unique voice.
She was magic. She's gone now. RIP
Loved your reaction and everything you said about her. She was really cool indeed, absolutely unique and irreplaceable. We miss her deeply!
Lucky enough to see them in concert
What Dolores is doing here isn't yodelling. It's called 'keening', a singing style from Irish folk music which Dolores executed perfectly. 🙋♂
I feel in love with her voice never seeing her. I had so many ideas of what she would look like but didn’t matter she was a little cutie. Miss her and the band.
Fabulous song by a great band. Have always enjoyed this band and Delores. So sad we lost her. 🙏
THE Woodstock was a one time 3-day event in 1969 outside the town of Woodstock in upstate NY. I think there have been other big event concerts in Woodstock since then but the first and most historically significant one was in 1969.
R. I. P Delores❤
It is called keening. It is strictly an Irish thing. Del was one of a kind.
More than a great artist, Dolores was a beautiful human being. Her voice gives me goosebumps in a good way and her lyrics are beautiful. Thaks for your reaction.
She was magical.
I saw them in the 90s several times ...THEY ALWAYS SHUT THE SHOW DOWN.. DELORES WAS A POWERHOUSE OF A SINGER
Beyond Beautiful ❤️🔥
This is a great version and Dolores really delivers the song perfectly. You should absolutely react to their biggest hit Zombie from the same concert.
Woodstock wasn't an ongoing thing. It was a 3 day festival in 1969. This was the 25th anniversary festival.
Time to Discover 🧐 The Corrs ☘️🥃 great Band 💚🤍🧡✌️
So, the first Woodstock was in 1969. Then they did a few more in the 90s. The first was the EPIC one, with hippies and mud and so many fantastic bands. The others were pale copies of that. Now, to the Cranberries - the lead singer. Delores O'Riordan, is a powerhouse, and she is dearly missed. That's more keening than yodeling. Keening is a tradition in many cultures, but the word comes from the Irish, caoin (pronounced keen), and has a long tradition in Irish mythology. If you haven't checked out Zombie, you definitely should - more rock/powerful and unlike most of their other songs. Linger is delightful. Promises. Most of her other songs are more ethereal than Zombies.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time, by anyone!
Damn someone in here is absolutely gorgeous and it isn't me. Also, Cranberries were pioneers in the time frame and created some of the best sounds of the 90s. Miss them and Delores.
The Cranberries were an Irish band, formed in Limerick in the Irish Republic in 1989. Dolores joined and became lead singer/songwriter in 1990. As far as I am aware, all members of the band were from Limerick. Her Southern Irish accent was part of the charm of her singing style, the other part is an Irish style of lament singing, called keening. But I do think that Dolores herself described it as yodelling.

@@turfsniffer She was a trained pianist, played Church organ and sang in the school and Church choir. Very influenced by plain chant of the Church among other styles, so I wouldn't dismiss any influence she might or might not have had.

@@turfsniffer Funny but I didn't say she was, if you read what I wrote, you will find that I said that Dolores called it Yodelling, some have identified it as keening and most who comment call it that and that's the information I waspassing on, nither did I claim it was part of Catholic religious services, I was merely giving her background. I'm actually older than she was and my Mother sang in Irish music competition as a child, so I know better than make any claims about anything.
RIP Delores, one of a kind for sure, check out "Twister" always one of my favs of theirs

Do "ode to my family" or "Linger". I'm a black man that's lived my whole life in Detroit, and growing up this band was a guilty pleasure. I had to hide this CD when folk came over so they didn't clown me about it, but this lady voice was so beautiful.
❤ not heard this in forever 💜
There were 2 Woodstock's....Nice music to start the morning....
you need to react to When your gone :) R.I.P our Irish Angel and songbird You will be forever missed
Although they tried there's only one Woodstock, in my opinion, the original in August 1969.
Strange, but before I watched this reaction video by Britt, I was thinking about what words best describe the Cranberries "Dreams" song, and I decided that "magic" was the best word. If any song embodies a sense of magic, "Dreams" does. Then at 05:40, Britt says, "[Delores] is so magical. She's like magic!" So clearly this song conveys a sense of the magical or mystical elements of our world. Maybe it's because of the "primal cries" in the song, the sort of singing you might have heard thousands of years ago in ancient magical rituals. Another commenter, diceau, says that this type of singing is called "keening", which "is a traditional form of vocal lament for the dead in the Gaelic Celtic tradition." A beautiful song, whatever the reason.
The " yodel" is called keening.
☮️💙💙💙🔥rest dear Dolores!

One of their best songs if not their best, my favourite anyways so I might be biased, but definitely react to more of The Cranberries you probably reacted to Zombie a while ago, definitely try Linger, Ode To My Family, When You're Gone, Animal Instinct and Promises, absolute gems, if your into more live, do Zombie and Promises in Paris 1999 Live their Paris show is amazing in 1999
THE WOODSTOCK was in the 60's. They tried to reboot it in the 90's.
ya need to hear her in studio.
Most of theyre live performences sound incredible
The original Woodstock was 1969. They tried to repeat it in 1999, but it just wasn’t the same.

This was Woodstock 1994. It wasn’t the same, but it is generally seen as a good festival with many of the biggest band of the day. Woodstock 1999 however was worse. It all escalated in violence, fires and several rapes during/after Limp Biscuits set. The crowd also threw mud and other stuff at several artists.
1) This is Woodstock '94. A crass 25 yr revival of the other-worldly original. Only to be bottomed-out by the 30 yr Mess.O.S. that was Woodstock '99 (I was at that one and saw the worst of our generation take baseball bats to ATMs and burn the place down during the Red Hot Chili Peppers closing set with the peace candles passed out earlier in the day to the crowd.) 2) Cranberries are the real deal. My cousin and I wanted to be dooters in the band. We miss Dolores immensely. 3) Everyone in this comment section and subscribed to this channel should binge Derry Girls asap.
Yes it's a form of yodeling.
No they did a re-do on Woodstock I think in the 90's???
If you are not comfortable with strange hands creeping into ALL your nooks and crannies, then crowdsurfing is DEFINITELY not for you. 🤣 ✌😎
Dolores uses a couple Irish singing techniques so very well, including Keening and Sean-nós. A generational talent gone way too soon. RIP
That is called Keening. It's a Gaelic thing.

Thanks for letting me know!
You have to listen to Zombie, one of the best songs ever written
The Woodstock festivals were each a product of their time. The original 4-day festival took place during the Vietnam war and the civil rights movement, and provided an opportunity for the 500k people who attended to connect through music and spread a message of unity and peace. There were 3 fatalities (all accidental). It had a benign chaotic magic, which is why it could never be duplicated. The 2-day 25th anniversary festival in '94 was an attempt by the promoters to capture the aura of the original, and in many ways there were echoes of it. 500k people attended, the weather turned very wet and muddy, and there were 2 fatalities. Some of the alumni who performed at the original returned, along with a roster of heavier modern performers. Unfortunately, with Woodstock '99, elements of poor management, budget cuts, high temperatures, misogyny, inadequate security, nu-metal, a disgruntled and angst-ridden millennial crowd forced to pay inflated prices, and the lack of sanitation were a disastrous cocktail, eventually spilling over into chaos, violence, sexual assaults, riots and several fatalities. It turned into a "Trainwreck."
Love the reactions, we're big fans. Don't comment too much, but love it. Hey just one thing though... wishing people the day they deserve... Just wondering about that. Is that a blessing, or a curse?
You should do a reaction to their song zombie, it’s so good.
I also suggest theyre song "shattered" live perforemence in Paris, rlly nice track
There is an Irish term for what she is doing with her voice . I can’t remember what it is called .❤

The last Woodstock happened in 1999
Ironically she is “big but small” whilst you wear a Biggie Smalls shirt. Awesome!
This was NOT "the" Woodstock. That was 1968. There were others later on
There was really only 1 Woodstock, August 1969. The following ones tried to copy and failed miserably. You couldn't create what happened so organically in 1969. You can watch the original Woodstock film footage
She was such a beautiful artist; gone way too soon.
Please do more Cranberries 🥲
It's not "THE" Woodstock, this was a 90s reissue, "THE" Woodstock, the actual original one was in 1969.
This is Woodstock 1999 or 1994 .....thr original famous Woodstock was 69 i believe x :)
Hi Britt! You might want to react to her singing "Zombie". She was from Northern Ireland. Do a little research of "the troubles" and watch her song. Without knowing about what the Northern Irish went through the song won't mean as much. Love ya... from someone old enough to have known the 1964 Woodstock!! I know you like the background info and it's worth it!!!!!!

Sorry? She was from Limerick in the very, very South of Ireland. No where near NI. Irish Republic.
i misss you, Dolores 😭
It's not Woodstock. It's just a music festival
It's funny that you notice the behavior of the crowd doesn't seem to match what's happening on stage. That's classic 1994 -- for some reason, "moshing" was really popular. Every concert had a mosh pit no matter what. It made more sense for the hardcore grunge that was coming out at the time, but not so much for bands like the Cranberries. Still, everyone wanted to "mosh" because, uh, I have no idea why. Woodstock was not a yearly festival. The original was 1969. It didn't happen again until the 1994, for its 25th anniversary. The vibe was very different from the original peace-and-love festival. Another Woodstock festival happened in 1999, and that one turned into a disaster with riots, arson, and deaths.
Curious about your thoughts on one of my personal favourite songs, Enter Shikari's Live Outside, if you do a reaction of it, do the reaction, say what the lyrics say to you and definitely go through the meaning of the song after. A sonic depart from the heavy years of their music, it sparks a softer sound but is heavy in the lyrics.
Zombie will change your life
