I always say that, especially for an emotional song like this you can’t beat the official video to bring the visuals together with the lyrics to really tug at the heartstrings.

Simon said he heard that Carrie Underwood had a special gift which was that she could cluck like a chicken and he wanted to hear it. After hearing her do it, he said that's good. Her response was the she just clucked her way on to American Idol. That was during her audition.

I lost my grandpa in 2021 so the last part of the song that says old man hospital bed he is in a room filled with people he loves omg this song made me cry the whole time.

I LOVE these songs that use multiple scenarios, same answer, like Don't Take The Girl. We grew up under similar situations, This song GUTTED me. Her vocals make the words come to life in full color. It's absolutely stunning. I agree on Kelly Clarkson as well, but I do have one more. Adam Lambert. TBH American Idol did produce a hefty amount of mind bending singers.

Nothing wrong with crying - there are a few songs that I can't help but cry to, Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" is one, Sam Cooke's "Jesus Gave Me Water" is another (to be fair, I cry at most hymns and spirituals). Carrie sings about a lot of young people in difficult situations. I often wonder how she connects with that; but part of me doesn't want to know. If there is an actual angel walking among us, it might be her.
