I was just going to mention this. Rick Schroder does great as the Diector and the lead in the video. And those who grew up in the 80's know Ricky Schroder from Silver Spoons

I saw a wonderful quote recently that seems to sup up the story of this song: “ Love is handing someone a loaded g** that’s pointed at your heart, and trusting them not to pull the trigger”

This Is actually the first time I heard this version I thought it was going to be the original music video the Allison Kraus. You will want to see that one also. I think Allison wrote that song,, love your reactions!! I'm a big AJ fan but you also need to see Lucy Thomas sing Hallelujah,, she is an angel singing that song.

I know Whisperin’ Bill Anderson at least co-wrote the song. Had to double check. Yes, it was Bill Anderson and Jon Randall, not Alison Krauss.

If you loved her voice, watch the official video where he sings with Allison Krauss. THAT one will pierce right through you AND you can "see" what and why the words are what they are. Allison Krauss' voice is so angelic. His wife is Kimberly Williams-Paisley. She is the actress that plays the daughter in the "Father of the Bride" movies.

I cannot wait to see your face when you first hear Alison Krauss. And Vince Gill, too. Those are the best voices in country music.

The origin of the song was that one of the two original songwriters had just gone through a divorce and lost his record contract and was in a rough place and turned to drinking and his manager said "Hey man, every now and then you've got to put a bottle to your head and pull the trigger." Which he meant as drinking away your pain and not what the lyric means in the song (drinking yourself to death). He then wrote down that line and built a song around it with another person, then when Brad Paisley heard it he said he wanted to record it with either Alisson Krauss or Dolly Parton, Brad and Alisson then recorded the song and the rest is history.

One of the songwriters for this song is a Legend in Country Music, Bill Anderson. Bill started in the 50s. Has sang & wrote many great songs for himself & many, many other singers. The list is a long one. Bill is 85 yrs old & is still singing & also writing songs. He is known as "Whispering Bill" because of how he sings. Country Music has a very deep well & you have barely touched the surface.

You should watch the original video with Brad Paisley & Allison Krauss, it hits you differently. Great reaction!!

A great reaction. I'll echo everyone else that you do need to check out some Allison Kraus songs. My suggestions would be: Jacob's Dream (based on a true story, have your tissues handy) When You Say Nothing At All This song always reminds me of the song "I'll Be True To You" by the Oak Ridge Boys. A similar tragic story.

I’m not sure the name of the artist but look up the song called Concrete Angel but have plenty of tissues with you because it will break your heart but bring a true realism to lite, trust me, it brought tears to this old fart and former combat Marine. Not much touches my heart but this song grabbed mine like a cold icy hand and squeezed hard.

It's kind of a shame because this performance is definitely not the best Brad Paisley has ever sounded, but man yeah Caylee is really something huh! (Also, what I really like about this song is that it doesn't hold it against the characters, it treats them with respect still.) You are definitely going to want to watch something from Alison Krauss, even if it's not the version of this with her. She did a cover of a Keith Whitley song, "When You Say Nothing At All" that is really special.
