AJ is in a class all by herself

I love Angelinas covers of Lana Del Rey. I know at least 3. One is on tiktok. But she captures the sleepy ebb and flow of her music. Angelina adds the soulful quality these songs need. Her musically empathetic nature allows her to convey the very adult themes of these songs.

I am not saying that Angelina cannot or does not sometimes internalize a song’s emotions when she sings it, but I do not think that is her primary method, and I think she does something far more magical than that. I know some people don’t like to think of mimicry in music as an admirable practice, but it think Angelina is a master of mimicking emotion with her vocals, such that she is not painting sounds as much as she is painting emotions with sounds. Like a painter who has jar full of brushes and a palette full of paints and has studied all the works of the masters who preceded her; I believe that instead of singing notes, Angelina paints a masterful tapestry of emotions with her voice.

Goosebumps and warmth to my aching body. Angelina doesn’t quite capture Lana del Rey’s melancholic indifference but her timing, and timbre has a healing effect on me.

I believe it is an innate ability AJ has. She sang Billy Holiday songs at a very tender age and made one feel the emotions within the verses. Now, about you and your ability to replicate AJ's stylings; I'm impressed and enjoy your reactions whether it is Reba, Dolly, HF, or AJ. And then your ongoing dialogue with Bill Burr. FABULIOUS!

I agree with those who are trying to let you know that it's hard to hear your reactions due to low volume on your microphone 🎤. As for the song from Angelina, it's fabulous.

When you are a child you watch those around you handling emotions that you have not experienced yet. I imagine she is taping into something of that ilk.

Now you're gonna have to check her other Lana del Rey's cover "Born to Die" which is even more special!

I don't know, for whatever reason I think this is one of her most special. I would call Born to Die better maybe, but not more special. This one is entirely timeless and a top 3. For me of course. Could be the unique message and style from her, to a greater extent than normal, than born to die even, a one off that will never lose effect. It's so far the only one that never waivers with my state of mind, emotional availability, or how often I watch it. In a category alone, of the many ways she can sing and storytell. I feel like I'd be hard pressed to find 5 seconds of this to say she sounds similar in another song, and I found it surprisingly beautiful which says a lot with her. One thing is for sure, LDR tackles emotional topics with a certain strength and calm to accompany the vulnerability, and AJ doing her songs is just perfection. Similar thoughts on Adele there.

@@GG_AJfan Ahhh, yeah to each their own. But you were wrong 😋 Hahaha. Video games is just a tiktok short, I'm not sure what happened to her tiktok it changed and deleted a bunch of stuff. I even finally signed up for it just in case it was a setting that I had to be signed up for and she changed her settings to have some videos only for followers. But it's gone now as far as I can tell. It's great though, very different, deep melodic, I loved it, some wished for better diction that was the only possible complaint I could see. I'll find it on youtube and link it.

Thank you Britt. Several people have said Angelina is a mathematical genius. Music is baased in math. That may help explain why she is so brilliant. She speaks e languages, plays 4 instruments and she paints. Her grandmother is a prodigy too. She is the one who encouraged Angelina starting at age 3.

One of the other extraordinary aspects of what Angelina make, in addition to her superlative voice and talent, is also the choice of songs, not only musically beautiful but also with meaningful lyrics. Since she was a child and despite her age, she has always favored non-light texts, her awareness and understanding are absolutely unique, it's as if she did not need to experience the problems expressed in her texts, but she was aware anyway. 💛🧡❤

This is maybe my favorite cover of Angelina. The way she is almost always tantalizingly marginally awesomely out of pitch with the soundtrack adds so much debt and feeling, it’s like Jacob Collier teaching us about true pitch and chords.

She is an old soul .. she very much comprehends pain and the complexities of life and love and age and death .. all of it. I love that you are doing so many of her songs. Please check out Suspicious Minds, which is very much her own version of that song and is very recent. Her voice deep and rich .. yummy. Also her singing It's a Man's World at 13. There are two or three videos of that .. look for the one with the Military Band of Oslo in an outdoor setting and with a simple white dress and her sweet bare feet. I look forward to your take on both of those!

I think it’s fine to share your opinion which is as valid to you as the next persons is..the industry seem to be highly impressed with Republic Records signing her at the age of 14 giving her “Highest Priority New Signing” status and giving her complete control over her output. Let’s see what the future brings for her..as for you, I hope you find the artist that hits your sweet spot..
