@@103mrg There is a video of her singing in Japanese in Japan. I think it's called a river flows. Grandpa was Japanese and grandma, her mom and uncle speak it at home. Her mom teaches Japanese at school. I'm not saying she is super fluent but conversationally there is no doubt. After hearing her sing a song in Spanish on ticktock, she might be learning Spanish. In California that might be good.

Yes the pattern of her outfit is also from a Grandma' painting. And they made it themselves. Must be some of there quality time together. Her white outfit in her Adele cover "Easy on me" was made by Grandma too.

Think about it, Whitney was 27 when she performed this in the Bodyguard, and Angelina is 17 at this point. Can you imagine what AJ future looks like up to 27, and beyond? Let's just hope AJ stay away from the alcohol and drugs that takes so many before their ready to go.

She definitely had a cold and I think adjusted the song a bit at the last minute to suit her suboptimal vocal condition... she was likely jet-lagged too given that she had only returned from the middle east that day... but she never lets people down

It didn't feel like an artistic choice, no idea what has been wrong. AJ changed the way she sang this for the Gala. I would highly recommend her live version from this past summer in Norway. It's the live version of the same black and white, but this time, you get to see the true color of that gown she wore.

Britt, hi! Great reaction! Thanks! Many of us suspect she may have had a bit of a cold or something here. If you're interested in hearing what I consider the BEST live performance of this song, check out her live performance of it last July 2022 at the "Allsang pa Grensen" music festival which, for many years, has been a jointly-conducted festival of Swedish & Norwegian peoples near the Sweden-Norway border on the grounds of a famous castle. The way she looks (like Aphrodite!) and the way she sings the song will blow you away!

You could hear the congestion in her talking voice. Can you imagine traveling all over the world and trying to be healthy all the time? There is time change, jet lag, different climate, change of atmosphere and then a lack of sleep. But the show must go on! It's not an easy thing to do.

Angelina is profoundness wrapped in simplicity, and regal splendor wrapped in humility, a mythical Homerian goddess of Olympus who walks again among 21st century mortals.

you are close with your observation. Angelina can give a song a different meaning by changing the pronunciation of a line without changing a single word. She's done this before, Suspicious Mind is a good example, and not the only one.

ron I don't believe she has fluency in Japanese, so it wouldn't be considered a 3rd or 4th language. She has always used an interpreter for Japanese radio and tv interviews.

Remember that Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, also is Asian (albeit West Asian) which makes Angelina not 1/4 but 1/2 Asian. I guess that is also why they chose to expose Mery's art so much in this performance at "The 20th Annual Asian American Awards".

Hi Britt 👋. Another awesome reaction to Angelina our barefoot 👣 princess 👸/angel 😇. Angie sang 2 songs 🎵 at the event. The 1st song was her "Bohemian Rhapsody ", which was killer of course. Might want to react to it also. The suit she is wearing, are the prints from the silkscreen of the original of her grandma Mery made. Angie, her mom Sara and grandma Mery all made it back when Angie was in Norway when she was 13 and has altered it periodically as she grew. Angelina has this amazing way of projecting her own, personal emotions upon many songs that she sings and for this song, it is especially so. When Angelina went on her brief tour in Norway this past summer, it was coming off of a nearly three year hiatus from touring due to the pandemic. But it also it wasn’t far removed from the Astar family health crisis; getting over the recent health challenges of their Matriarch (and Angelina’s beloved grandma) Mery Zamani. During the concert tour, Mery was back at their home in LA (accompanied by Angelina’s little “sis” Juliette) completing her long recuperation from these health challenges. This song, “I Have Nothing” was the last song of Angelina’s last concert in her beloved Norway. In the eyes of many in the audience, this song took on a totally different meaning when Angelina dedicated it to her Grandma, whom she has referred to in the past as “my inspiration”, my “best friend”, my “everything”. ❤️‍🩹❤️ I don’t think there was a dry eye in the audience that beautiful summer evening.

Hey Shark, you're not alone in this. I like this live outdoor performance better than the studio version, although you can hear more nuances in the studio recording. But the overall impression live is unmatched for me. However, the crowd's cheering isn't as enthusiastic as here at the Asia-Pazikik gala - it's just reserved Norwegians. 🙂

What IS important to know, though, is that this reservedness has nothing to do with a lack of respect or understanding, I'm almost tempted to say on the contrary. WHERE the reservedness comes from is a very good question, at least when you think about our ancestry...LMAO No reservedness THERE I guess. I guess we have evolved 🤣🤣🤣
