Great reaction and wow it's really tough to pick a single song, but if hard pressed I'd go with "Dogs" off of animals. Thing is, all of their albums are concept albums, so it's tough to separate songs out like that. Animals is my favorite album by them though and Dogs is my favorite from that album. Though, we're really slicing it thin between `favorite` and second through about twentieth because there's about twenty honorable mentions, this being one of them.

As far as a stand alone song goes, I think Echoes from the Meddle album is my standout. It indicated the shift that the Floyd was going through. The live version at Pompeii is the best, but the song is split into two sections.

Grew up with this and it's always woven into part of my soul. If it matters to you, much of the song is in a prog rock beat, 7's, highly utilized by Rush and King Crimson for example. And it just makes it kick that much harder when it hits a straight 8 later in the soloing.

Has been back in the charts, been there for close to half its 50 years and 14 in a row to start. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! For my best Pink Floyd song, I have 3, you can put them in the order you prefer: Echoes Time Comfortably Numb Depending on how I feel I could have them in any order, they are all equally great for me. As for live tracks, the very best for me is them Live at Pompeii, Echoes opened and closed the concert movie, and the Pulse Concert (I saw that tour) Comfortably Numb is one of the best live tracks for everything, the sound, lights, effects and especially Gilmour's guitar solo, always mentioned for best tracks ever. The sounds you hear at the beginning, the coins chinking, the till, the fruit machine etc were all individually recorded, then the tapes all joined together, and to get them onto the record apparently the tape loop was stretched across the studio around various mic stands. There are 7 distinct sounds, which informed the time signature.

about the theme of the album, this was in the time of sides of a disc. So from Speak to Me/Breathe until The Great Gig in the Sky the main theme is the passage of time, in Speak to Me we hear a lot of sounds that represents the life, and in the end someone is born, we hear about a mother kinda giving advices to her newborn, about how we live in a rush pursuing nothing, just to die with the regrets of not having noticed the important things along the way. The Death marks the end of side A in The Great Gig. Money starts the B-Side, where PF just dissect life, finding motives for that way of living of A-Side. that's why theme changes from Money foward

My favorite is the next song on this album. Us and Them (love the sax). Looking forward to your reaction. BTW Hilarious watching your eyes go left and right as the cash register sound moved from either side. Another example of why Pink Floyd, and this album in particular, should be listened to through headphones. Thanks for sharing. 😘

A Pink Floyd classic. This song reflects what the members of Pink Floyd are today, haha, they became what they criticized: businessmen, who forgot music as art and now it's business, just that.

The bit at the end spoken is interspersed throughout the album. A group of people at the recording studio were asked random questions and recorded responses edited by snippets into the album.

After playing guitar for years I decided to buy a bass and found I really enjoyed it too. One of the first basslines I HAD to learn was this song. Incredibly fun to play. Favourite PF song is difficult, I personally love "Hey You" but all time fav may have to be Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I - V particularly).

Pink Floyd - When The Tigers Broke Free! It was on the movie soundtrack for the Wall and it was the first song that was in the movie (if memory serves me correctly) but it was not on the original "The Wall" album! It did show up later in a remastered version of their album "The Final Cut" though! It's a bit of an obscure song of theirs but it is powerful nonetheless! I think you would enjoy it!

This the third song from Dark Side of the Moon I've watched your reaction to, and it's heartwarming to see a person of your age be so affected by the music I grew up with! I like your examinations of both the music and the messaging. Thank you for being such a mature, empathetic and articulate young woman. You give us hope for the future. You have another subscriber! Favorite Pink Floyd song... Dogs from the Animals album. I have a feeling you'll be moved by it.

Yep the album The Dark Side of the Moon is an audio Bible for modern life. It still rings true even after 50 years and will continue until the rise of the machines (so another couple of years if we are lucky) 🤣🤣🤣

Hard to pick a favorite Pink Floyd song but one I highly recommend is 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' from their Animals album. It's a long song but well worth listen. A lot going on in that song.

I concur. PF has made a lot of great music. But, 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' is at the top of the heap for me. It takes me to a place no other song ever has. 'Money' is a close second!
