Hello Ray [ Ghetto Cowboy ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community 🤘

Hello Ray. Nightwish Army reporting from the Netherlands. Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish. They are from Finland. And they make Symphonic Metal. What you've heard here is just the tip of what this band can do. Nightwish really hits you in your heart. And that's what makes this band so unique. Her name is Floor Jansen and she is Dutch. There were 82,000 people there. I happily refer you to Gabriel Bardac's comment (he'll be here soon) for a list with lots of song suggestion. Watch out for the Nightwish Army. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Don't be mad. The band has been around for almost 30 years and the guitarist and keyboard are the only two original members. The fact that this concert was turned into a video is what is the lightning in a bottle. There is nothing like hearing this for the first time as an introduction to the band. Fourteen other songs from this show to enjoy.

@@GhettoCowboy7 Ok, that said, I don't consider myself a Nightwish fan like the majority of the folks you'll find here. I'm really a fan of Floor's and her solo projects, which, after seeing her solo performances from her appearance on the Dutch tv show Beste' Zangers solidified my fandom of Floor and she introduced me to Nightwish. Her solo projects are a departure of sorts from her metal driven offering with Nightwish. She is so much more diversified that that. So, to promote Floor I'm going to take the liberty of posting a selected playlist of live performances that I consider the most enjoyable for me from her catalog of solo projects. 2019 - Beste' Zangers Solo cover of "Shallow" (Lady Gaga) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2ps0sdtkcKfqs4.html Duet cover of "Phantom of the Opera" w/ Henk Poort - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqB3tcWjpqe1erA.html Classical, cover of "Vilja Lied" in German - kzread.info/dash/bejne/npeAqZeRYcyYgbA.htmlsi=HUiy9AYavOrwSANH 2021 - solo Amsterdam Concert **You will find these are from her channel and the entire concert is there, professionally taped provided by her fans through crowdsourcing** "Storm in a Glass" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZWsl9CMgKWfpJs.html "Slow, Love, Slow" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/lHZ7mqmdqa-_dM4.html "Nemo" - kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5mWypaNpbPFiMo.html 2022 - Singles from her 2023 released solo album. There are music videos of these singles but I prefer the more organic live versions. All six venues provided excellent acoustics "Fire" - recorded at HLF8 - kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKWrqq-gn8KqlLQ.html "Storm" w/orchestra - kzread.info/dash/bejne/aph1spqGmsrOj6g.html "Me Without You" - First public performance - kzread.info/dash/bejne/hGqAz7SLXdXNo9Y.html "Paragon" - Live at @RadioVeronica - kzread.info/dash/bejne/i5mquKSupZrOoso.html "Daydream" - Live at NPO Radio 2 - kzread.info/dash/bejne/oIKC1ZSln8eoiaw.html "The Calm "- this is the only one I can find live kzread.info/dash/bejne/dmaVxsxqd8zWfaQ.html Video Playlist of My Paragon live performances - kzread.info/head/PLAF4nircstOzIVwA8VoEz0ZQ50YivBpMW Bonus reel - Floor sings the phonebook - kzread.info/dash/bejne/dYCJ1JN9fNqrgco.html I realize that the combination of Floor's vocals and the band's symphonic are a big draw, but when you're ready (if you ever are ready), hope you'll use these linked suggestions to draw from to explore the brilliance of Floor breath of offerings. @@natalietroop4175 I certainly am not trying to change anyone's opinion about what type of genre to listen to Floor in - I get that most who come are here for Nightwish, or at least, whatever crew is lined up to play the music. The last type of Symphonic type music for me was Pink Floyd, The Wall. But that just reveals my age bracket. The boys from Nightwish are very talented crew but I do enjoy Floor being the focus not just another instrument in a band. Peace

Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in ! 6'1'' Dutch Valkyrie Goddess spotted ! Gabriel Bardac entered ! This is called Symphonic Metal !!! Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. And the master of this magic is: Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people (one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world and one of the largest open-air festivals in Germany). The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival. We hope, that there is more coming. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on KZread. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered KZread in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turns 7 years next march) and Lucy (born last october) ,a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.

I saw them live at Wembley in November 2022 and it was the most amazing experience. To hear more from them, I suggest you follow Gabriel's list or pick and mix from it. I have followed Nightwish for some time now and have just about every Nightwish recording, live and studio and not a single track I don't like. By the way, you cut off the ending of this song. Lovely piece of guitar work from Emppu. Be careful not to end any Nightwish video early, as there's often a surprise at the end. Even (especially) over end credits.

If you continue with Nightwish (I highly recommend that you do, they are magical), I would suggest to let their videos play until the end instead of cutting it short 17 seconds. It's a bit disrespectful to the artists as the song had not yet ended and as a fan of Nightwish - it's irritating. I don't wish to bring negative energy to a positive reaction but I figure I'll mention it this once and what you do from here-on is up to you. I'll give you a thumb up and await your next one.

Hi Ray, Wacken 2013 is the Platinum standard. Pick any other track from this concert, then any Nightwish song with Floor singing and you are on your way. Follow Gabriel! Nightwish Army Vancouver, SW BC Canadian division reporting.

ok so the big three for Nightwish, is ghost love score (10 mins), poet and the pendulum (14 mins) the greatest show on earth (21 mins) that you watch in that order. With the greatest show there are two versions, I prefer the Richard Dawkins version. Apart form this youve got storytime, romaticide, dark chest of wonder, the islander and phantom of the opera. There are plenty of others of course. They have had three singers, they started with Tarja (1996-2006), Anette (2007-2013), Floor (2013 till now), they are all amazing and can't be compared to each other, two minor notes Anette was in the band when thy made a full length movie called Imaginaerum, and Floor was only given 48 hours to learn the bands songs before their first gig with her

Another unbelievable voice in this world : please react to "Dimash Kudaibergen" singing OGNI PIETRA from the Arnau Concert on his own channel. This guy has an 6 octave range and he is trained since the age of 5 years old. Never heard a voice like this. Hope you enjoy it and send you all the best from Germany 🇩🇪 Petra

Welcome, get ready for what could be the best musical rabbit hole you ever go down. I'm a 60s - 70s and 80s rocker. I found Nightwish about 5 years ago and what it find it was. These are some of the best musicians and Floor is one of the best singers you will find in music today. No 2 songs are alike and most songs have so many changes in them you wonder where you're going next. Enjoy the ride. BTW, if you've never been Europe, they don't believe in nor do the use deodorant. Rip is their goal.

When i buy a new CD of a band I'm pretty sure I'm going to like, i make sure i put aside uninterrupted time to play it at full belt, so that precious first impression is optimised. I love watching reaction videos but i think maybe you should allow the band the courtesy of the intended experience to flow over you before commenting? You can always dissect the video later to go over the parts you wish to highlight if you're so inclined, anyway, thanks for reading 😀

Gave you a like because you put the band front and centre. Jukka was a very intense drummer which carried a cost health wise. Top drummers I could name are.the late Neil Peart from Rush and Dana Carey from Tool.

Subscribed. Great performance and reaction. NIGHTWISH is awesome. May I suggest a reaction to BABYMETAL. They have a worldwide following of very loyal fans (known as The One) They are unique. Their music has a positive and uplifting message. I will leave 3 suggestions: BABYMETAL - PA PA YA!! (feat. F.HERO) (OFFICIAL) Then: MAYA【Live Blu-ray/DVD「BABYMETAL BEGINS - THE OTHER ONE -」"BLACK NIGHT"】 Then to showcase the lead singer’s amazing voice: BABYMETAL - Monochrome - Piano ver. / THE FIRST TAKE 🖖 ❤

Hi Ray, i loved to see your reaction video of Nightwish. For me they are the best band in the world 😍 I also have another recommendation for you. If you like surprises, then try this masterpiece of our Dutch genius Arjen Anthony Lucassen with 11 awesome singers (I won't spoil who they are, but i think you will recognize some of them 😉): Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down. Here is the link to the video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oXqpr62dot22obg.html You will be blown away by all the talented musicians and singers! You won't be dissappointed....I PROMISE! Hope to see your reaction to this masterpiece soon and for now....Greetings, stay safe and lots of love from The Netherlands, Martin.
