Within Temptation were formed in Netherlands in 1996 by vocalist Sharon Den Adel, a self-taught mezzo soprano singer... and her husband guitarist Robert Westerholt (whose brother Martijn Westerholt was in Within Temptation briefly, and then formed another female-fronted rock band Delain)... After the couple had children together, Robert Westerholt opted to stay at home and work in the studio only, while Sharon would take Within Temptation on tour. Sharon had been singing since she was a teen and she and Robert wanted to make Within Temptation a gothic/ symphonic rock band... However, unlike their peer symphonic bands like Nightwish, Epica and Rhapsody... Within Temptation were willing to incorporate other styles of music, including hip hop, pop and R&B... Their hit single 'And we run' featured rapper Xzibit. Within Temptation debuted in 1997 w/ 'Enter' ... followed by 'The Dance' EP in 1998. 2nd album 'Mother Earth' in 2000 was a moderate success in the Netherlands as the band continued touring... 3rd album 'The Silent Force' (2004) saw Within Temptation touring across Europe and becoming one of the best-selling Dutch artists by 2006... 'Memories' was one of their early singles from 'The Silent Force'. The band scored a major worldwide deal in 2007 for the 4th album 'The heart of everything'... which brought Within Temptation to America & their first world tour... the single 'What have you done' featured Life of Agony singer Keith Caputo... In 2008, they performed a massive show in Netherlands w/ the Metropole Orchestra - it was recorded and released for the DVD/CD 'Black Symphony'... It was followed by another live release - 'An acoustic night at the theater'... a version of an 'Unplugged' set. Within Temptation returned in 2010 w/ 'The Unforgiving'... a concept album w/ comic book imagery, depicting a woman's journey of revenge against the enemies that traumatized her.... Sharon den Adel and Robert Westerholt were parents to 3 children by 2011, so touring extensively was not in their itinerary... Robert stayed at home w/ their children and worked on Within Temptation songs in the studio while Sharon was on tour ... Within Temptation's touring line-up now featured Ruud Jolie (lead guitar), Jeroen van Veen (bass), Martijn Spierenburg (keyboards), Mike Coolen (drums) and Stefan Helleblad (guitar)... 'Hydra' was the next album in 2014; it featured rapper Xzibit on a single, as well as guest singers Tarja (former Nightwish singer) and Howard Jones (former Killswitch Engage vocalist)... 'Hydra' went top 10 on the UK charts and top 20 in the US charts... Another live DVD/CD 'Let us burn' . In 2017, Sharon den Adel recalled some personal and creative difficulties led to her working on a solo pop album that was released as 'My Indigo'. Within Temptation finally returned in 2019 w/ the album 'Resist'... They were scheduled to do a 'Worlds Collide' tour w/ Evanescence, when the covid-19 pandemic hit... The tour was rescheduled to 2022 and the band released a number of singles in the following years and opened for Iron Maiden as well... They announced a new album 'Bleed out' in October 2023. More Within Temptation songs - 'Our solemn hour' (live 2008 version)... 'Jillian' ... 'Faster' ... 'Paradise (What about us?)' feat. Tarja Turunen ... 'Stand my ground' ... 'The Howling' ... Sharon den Adel has an angelic quality to her voice. Most of Within Temptation’s music is a bit harder. They fall within the realm of Symphonic Metal. The 4 great Dutch female vocalist Floor Janssen of Nightwish Simone Simons of Epica, Sharon den Adel and Anneke van Giersbergen from The Gathering

Sharon den Adel is a wonder. She has a magnificent ability to project focused power on even the softest of notes. Her voice is joyous and soaring. 💙💙💙

Within Temptation are a Dutch Symphonic Metal band. They have stuff that hits a lot harder but always with great arrangements and her beautiful voice. You should also check out Epica and Nightwish. Simila bands with fantastic singers.

Sharon Den Adel is a dutch singer. One of the fantastic female dutch singers (Anneke Van Giersbergen, Floor Jansen, Simone Simons, Zora Cock, Jennie Lena, Anouk, Samantha Steenwijk, Emma Heesters, Charlotte Wessels etc.

As utterly beautiful as Sharon is, she's actually far more beautiful on the inside still. She is such a stunning human being.

This is the first song I've ever heard by WT! Heard it back in high school in 2008 and I listened to it on repeat constantly. When my ex cheated on me, I was listening to this 24/7. Still brings me to tears. Such a powerful song!

Foe a great Classical-Crossover cover of this song, put out on an album, search, JACKIE EVANCHO - Memories She recorded it at age 13, amazing.... I convinved her mom, in late 2012, to consider this song for Jackie.

I see why the fan chose this one. This is a true showcase of her voice however, some of their more heavier songs are a representation of how talented the band is behind her, and I think you will find those to be fired as well. I love this band.

I'm a fan of you and wt.....try a couple more k....it's been too long.....the masses just don't know......I do😊.......try, dangerous, don't pray for me, faster, in the middle of the night, s'nead, and we run (featuring xibit), a demons fate, shot in the dark...........okokok.....now see what I mean, bangers....least to my ear drums......if one of these here tracks don't put you back on the within temptation track of discovery, then nothing Will....and that ok....but try one more time, they are my favorite band and Sharon actually sings at you in "faster"....
