I think, there are people, who believe that "Zo Ver Weg" (So Far Away) is a song by Guus Meeuwis & Vagant, but it's not. It's from a Belgian band called Mama's Jasje (Mama's Jacket).

In 2013, 2014 and 2015 i lost my 2 brothers and my mother. As you can understand i was heartbroken. Then a friend sent me this song. I cried, but it did me so good. But every time I hear this song tears run down my cheeks

Hello, I discovered for myself the wonderful Dutch music and its magnificent artists! Without understanding your language, just listening to the given song and observing the singer, I guessed the meaning very precisely and faithfully. You have great performers. So this person also admires your artists, admires their masterful performances, has an accurate judgment about things. There is nothing strange or funny, he appreciates them, understands them and admires them. So do I, so do many other people around the world. You Dutch are blessed with good music and unique artists!

And.....performed at Eurovision as well. Though I did not find it one of the greatest moments of her career. But kudos to her, being pregnant and doing Eurovision can't have been easy.

Im no musician by any standard but i do carry it in my heart. After my brother died unexpectedly my heart was locked away for a decade. It was music that opened it back up. If it wasnt for music i would not have allowed myself to feel and i do believe i wouldnt be maried to the love of my life or have my beautiful daughter.

So great you indeed take the time to also get the stories behind the songs. Then only you grasp the true meaning of this program. Keep doing this!

I seriously never ever kept it dry with show. Seen 'em all and have always enjoyed it to the max. I like the fact that you discover new artists that you didn't knew before and see known artists do things of which you wouldn't expect them to do. All the cross genres and combinations in duets captivates every single time.

First time listener, love it unequivocally. Dutch lyric actually very very good and apropos.

Trijntje started singing when I was a teenager (70's child). She has always been one of the better female Dutch singers.

I'm not the fastest to respond to people I haven't heard before. But after having listened to quite a few reactions of you especially on the 'Beste Zangers" show, I have to say to you what you said about the show: your reactions are appreciative, respectful and coming from a warm heart. Trijntje Oosterhuis and the original singer Marco Borsato are really big names, this song is from 1995 when they were both already well known and they are still top performers in the Netherlands. So Trijntje performing in this show is amazing and if you count the number of songs covered from Marco in the Beste Zangers series 😱. But everyone covering him finds it difficult because he has such a vocal range but yeah Marco knows how to touch people. In a way just like Floor but mainly in dutch and in another genre, but i was a big fan back in the days of this particular CD.

Whatever you decide to watch from Trijntje if you want to in the future, never watch her Eurovision performance😂. "Ken je mij?" and "Somebody Elses Lover" are also great songs. The last one was when she was in the band Total Touch. And her duet with Marco Borsato "Een Wereld Zonder Jou" is definitely a classic one. And she also has a duet with Lionel Richie called "Face In The Crowd". Very beautiful. Okay I could go on for hours but I will just leave it at that lol.

Please check out Tabitha's rendition of 'Ik houd van mij' on that same show. You seems to be impressed by Trijntje Oosterhuis, as you should, she is one of the Netherlands's best female singers

Thank you for this great en emotional reaction video. You should really check out the other performances of Trijntje during this show. If you thought this song was emotional, then you should look and listen to the song “zeg me wie je ziet” by Trijntje at this program. The lyrics of that song are so emotional and she sings it with so much raw power and feeling. It’s amazing!

For practicing all day I was a bit let down by "Trench'd Oosterhaus" 😂 But you tried at least! :p Try to pronounce it like "Trinechuh (trine spoken as the word wine, ch as in chips) Ohsterhise", that would probably be closer to the original pronunciation

Never really was interested in Marco's music, because I didn't really know it and understand it. Then some time ago I stumbled upon this performance by Trijntje and felt tears from both eyes, clogging my vision, unable to stop it. From that moment on I went to search more of him and he fucking did the same with fucking almost every single fucking song. Slayer? Yeah, sure, so nice, powerful and energetic performances. Truly. But have you ever also really listened to Marco Borsato? I don't care about what people say once I like a thing and Marco has conquered my heart through Trijntje and no one can take that ever away from me. Ah, yes, the stumbling on thing. Twas because of Floor and her phantom.

Trijntje Oosterhuis started her career quite successfully with her Brother Tjeerd. They were called Total Touch and had some international hits.

Maybe you should check out some songs by Marco Borsato. He is to this date the most successful Dutch singer. He has sold more records, filled more stadiums, got more awards then any other Dutch singer. He has bagged 19 #1 hits in his career. Just 3 shy of the record holding Beatles with 22 #1 hits. Not everyone enjoys his vocal quality, he he sure know how to deliver a song.

I think "something inside so strong" from Trijntje during the beste zangers show is the best!

Some info for you: Trijntje Oosterhuis is the daughter of Huub Oosterhuis, a Jesuit priest, who was later expelled from the order and from the Catholic Church. He wrote many church hyms. Her brother is Tjeerd Oosterhuis, a singer songwriter, producer and composer. A very musical family so. Tjeerd wrote and produced the songs "Laat mij een vlinder zijn" and "Strijder" for Emma Kok.

I saw Trijntje Oosterhuis with her band Total Touch at the beginning of a concert of Michael Jackson. :-) I really do like her voice. Michael Jackson's show was just too polished for my taste. As if you were listening to a CD. Still really great that I did get to see him once in my life.

Trijntje is the best! She was also Maria in The Passion, very impressive,check it out. This song was also once used in The Passion.

This one is very old from the best singers 2011, Glennis Grace with afscheid. That woman is not of this earth, what a range, is definitely worth listening to. Or Do - hij gelooft in mij, both are in Dutch but so good Much love from the Netherlands.

Trijntje Oosterhuis does many Burt Bacharach classics in English very well, Try Do you know the way to San Jose and the Look of Love among many others she is not just a pretty great singer but as well like Elton John, Billy Joel and Sir Cliff Richard and ACDC among others highly entertaining she puts on a great show as well as being a great singer almost unknown in English speaking countries but she sings brilliantly in English.

Dutch 'ij' in Trijn sounds like something in between the english sound for 'y' and sound of 'wine' but with less of an 'a' sound.. ;)
