OK youngsters, allow an old schooler to inform you: This came out when I was a teenager, SO this song was part of the soundtrack in The Five Hearts movie; This was NOT the Five Heartbeats because the Five Heartbeats we're a fictitious group loosely based on the TEMPTATIONS. LA LA Means I Love You put the DELFONICS on the map in 1968! The is no such group as the Five Heartbeats - The Dells soundtracks we're also featured in that movie. As with many movies, soundtracks are featured - In Jackie Brown The DELFONICS songs loomed large... Man! Your generation surely missed how much men truly loved WOMEN... And we loved them right back 😉💎🌹

Hi guys, I just wanted to share with you, that The Delfonics sang this song live at my class of 1969 graduation prom. They had just started their career about this time✌🏻.

I was 12 years old when this came out. It was one of those songs we "slow danced" to with the guys we had crushes on. My favorite is "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time." ✌️🎶💙

Don't forget "Hey Love"!
They always sounded like a 50s band but they brought deep soul to 70s audiences. Perfect in every way. And if you like this check out another Philly band, The Stylistics, another great Philly band. Several hits in the 70s, and my favorite has always been Betcha By Golly Wow. As always you guys are the best and I love y'all. 🥰♥️👍🏾

He wrote the song for his newborn child. The baby would say LaLa all the time. He assumed it meant I love you. This song was played in the background of the Five Heartbeats but they didn’t show anyone performing it.

Yes! And also Didn't I Blow Your Mind was also in the movie.
The Delfonics have a large catalogue of good songs. Didn't I Blow Your Mind is the biggest of them, but they have many others to enjoy including Break Your Promise, Ready or Not and many more. Their sound remains unique and love songs were their specialty. I enjoyed seeing you both get into this classic jam. I hope you do more Delfonics soon.

1970s music at its best, what a decade from music! The Delfonics along with the other groups were so instrumental in our lives back then. Their music stood the test of time love this song love The Delfonics

Slow smokey soul music. Stellar vocals and awesome harmonies.
The Delphonics were....William "Poogie" Hart, Wilbert Hart and Randy Cain. William was inspired to write this song by his baby son. He would respond to his dad by saying La la la la. William then figured that his son was trying to say I love you, and so the song was born! The Delphonics have a great body of work! Check out Break Your Promise, Trying To Make A Fool Of Me, two of my favorites, but there are so many more!
i love this era in black music history. the strings the harmony and the falsettos this period is a vibe. the only thing better is the actual video from this period. 70s black male groups were the best. thank god for youtube and you guys

Thes guys were a 60s sound.
Man, I remember calling my local radio station and asking the DJ to play this song and dedicate it to a girl that I had a mad crush on back in high school. God but those were such fun times.
THis band is a class act! Who can resist this?
Came out in 68, loved it then, still do . One of the most beautiful songs ever,! 1968 is probably my favorite yr for music. This is Philly Soul which I really dig. DIDNT I BLOW YR MIND THIS TIME is just as fantastic in 1970.
They were one of the greatest groups of the late 60's to early 70's. They were a big part of "The Philadelphia Sound" which included groups like " The Stylistics, Blue Magic, Harold Mevin and the Blue Notes with Teddy Pendergrass, and the Three Degree's." For a time in the 70's "The Philadelphia Sound surpassed Motown as the predominate Rythm and Blues and Soul sound in the Black community. These gentlemen were revered in the white and Hispanic community back in the day too. Their music was featured in various movies including the movie "Jackie Brown" by Quentin Tarantino. Note: This song "La-La Means I Love You" was featured in the movie "Family Man" with Nicholas Cage singing the song in the movie.
The Five HeartBeats was base on a real R&B music group, the group was call ( THE DELLS) and you should check out their songs OH WHAT A NIGHT and A HERT IS A HOUSE FOR LOVE.

Well done my friends, this was released in 1968,part of the Philadelphia sound. The song was written by William Hart and Thom Bell.William Hart was the lead singer,Thom Bell was a Philadelphia songwriter and musician He conducted the orchestra in this song.Thom Bell was the man who wrote for the Stylistics in their early days,he also wrote songs for Ronnie Dyson and the Spinners. He is legendary Philly songwriter and musician.Speaking of the Delfonics, here are some other songs you can listen to, Lying to Myself,First Thing On My Mind, I'm Sorry,Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time,I Don't Wanna Make You Wait, I've Got Everything I Needed With You, Oh My Love and Don't Throw It All Away. You just could not go wrong with this group.
Loved the Delfonics, Chi Lites, Al Green, Marvin Gaye. I can go on and on about how great MoTown and Soul was in the '60's and early 70's... Beautiful is what this music is.
This song was played as background music during one of the scenes in The Five Heartbeats. But neither The Five Heartbeats nor the Delfonics actually performed the song during the movie.
The movie “The Five Heartbeats” were a fictional singing group; however, a real singing group “The Dells” were consulted during the making of the film! Great movie! This is one of the great love songs from the late 1960’s ; a timeless classic! I have slowed danced to this song many, many times!
This song brings back so many great memories. I was about 10 years old at the time but had older siblings who played this single all the time. There’s nothing like old school R&B/Soul music from back in the day😊👍🏼….
This is a sound that will neverrrrr get old..... Beautiful
In The Five Heartbeats movie this song was played during the "shy brother" scene which took place in the diner. The Delfonics were not in the movie and the Five Heartbeats did not sing this in the movie.
Love this song
Brings back so many memories. Love this song.
Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time) by The Delfonics is a must !
I always loved this one. Such a talented group.
Released in 1968, I first heard this on CKLW radio, 1972-1973. 60s & 70s R&B hits like nothing else. Even as a kid (around 10), I sensed how special this song was the 1st time I heard it - the 🎶La la la la la la la la la means 'I luv u'🎶 .
Damn I remember this song, grew up listening to type of Motown classics, I remember my older brother and sister playing this 45 record
This song is everything for me I’m 52 years old grew up with amazing music my family was a lover of all different types of genres. This song is in my top five favorite songs of all time! His almost begging to her and preaching his love to her oh my God I fucking love this song so much! Literally have goosebumps even writing this. Not to mention the beautiful falsetto
I was in Jr high school when this was out and I LOVED IT! They were my favorite group , Somebody Loves You Girl, Break Your Promise, Didn't I Blow Your Mind, Tell Me it's a Dream and so many more
One of the greatest R&B songs of all time. Classic, Legendary group .
You can't experience The Delfonics without hearing... "HEY LOVE"... Both of you will be mindblown!!!

" Cowboys to Girls ". You just brought back a good memory. Forgot about that song 🎵
In my day we used to have “Social” at different friends houses. It cost a quarter which got you in and you got chips and kool Aid. I heard this song and I went NUTS !!! I went on to be in local bands and when we played this song , the girls went crazy. Definitely a bump and grind song. This group, The Originals, The Temptations and all Motown made me appreciate the human voice because of how high or low in range one can go. My playlist is mostly that era music. I’m sure your parents can relate. Thank you guys.
The Delfonics were an American R&B/soul vocal group & were most popular in the late 60's & early 70's. Their most famous hits include "La-La (Means I Love You)", "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)", "Break Your Promise", "I'm Sorry", "Ready or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide from Love)" etc. Their songs have been used in a lot of film soundtracks.
The song was originally done by The Delfonics at Sigma sound International recording studio in Philadelphia Adrian and BJ you just learned something new today have a blessed and beautiful day and happy New Year
The Ballads from the 60's and 70's were Awesome. Like the Delfonics, The Moments, The Persuaders, Chi-Lites and Blue Magic.
We had serious Love Songs back then. This takes me back to basement parties with blue lights. Slow dancing with my honey. Such great memories.
Y’all made me subscribe to this channel because of this reaction video. I am 30 years old and 1960s R&B soul music is unmatched. Thank you for this, now I’m about to binge watch y’all channel ✊🏾💯
The "Five heartbeats" is one of my alltime favorite movies. The Five Heartbeats didn't sing the Delfonics song in the movie. The Delfonics song was actually being played on the juke box in the background while the Five Heartbeats were sitting in a restaurant.
William Hart, the lead singer just recently passed away on July 14th 2022 at the age of 77...
I remember when Dick Clark from American Bandstand said Didn't, I Blow Your Mind by the Delfonics was his favorite record at that time it was released. He was introducing them at on the show at the time.
BJ you are so right. Man we used so many songs back in the day to rap to the ladies. Worked most of the time!
Another great song from the Delfonics is Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time. The 5 Heartbeats was loosely based on a group called the Dells and one of their great songs that you might recognize from the movie is A Heart Is A House For Love.
In the five heartbeats movie, it was the Delfonics singing. They were just playing the song in the background. Just part of the soundtrack
This is one of the great classics. I was about 12 or 13 when this came out. It was magic then, and it’s magic now. Didn’t I Blow Your Mind This Time is another real classic by them. Less known but also great is Ready Or Not, Here I Come.
Great pick to react to. BJ said exactly what I feel with this song and others like it.
Great Philly Soul
They song from the heart, and that was the Delfonics singing .
Oh my gosh.....delfonics, oldies but goodies.....danced to this at many a school dance. They have sooo many other hits too! You should check them out.
Awww my oldies slow dancing to this music💃🕺🎶🎶 nice memories that just make me smile😁🥰
Those basement walls hold many secrets because of these classics!! Music That I grew up on!! Mighty 70's!! #Throwback⬅️
The Delfonics was the first musical group that started out at Sigma sound International recording studio in Philadelphia and then came The O'Jays And Then There Were The Whispers And Then There Were The Stylistics and then there were Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes and other groups followed
This came out in 1968, and it was the beginning of the Philly soul sound that would come to dominate the 70's.
Always enjoyed this group soooo much! Yes they also brighten up my day and take me back in time to listening to their music on on radio! Could you please react to Bee Gees “Will you still love me tomorrow”
This was a killer song back then. The benchmark romance song coming out of the late sixties. The Delfonics and so many other great groups also were on the scene. Your reaction was typical to those reactions back then. Can t deny beautiful music - no matter the era.
Great Old Tune brings back many fond memories our band played this one in every gig in the 1960's
The song was just playing in the back ground. I believe the scene was from the Shy Brother routine in the club.
70's soul music was the best
I think these guys were the Godfathers of "Bitter Sweet Soul." Produced and arranged by Thom Bell and company at Sigma Sound.
The song you heard in "The Five Heartbeats" is the song "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time" by the Delfonics.
It’s loosely based on the Dells from Chicago. But it also incorporates a lot of the old school music singing groups.
All you kids that remember growing in the 80's ask your parents about this band, they will get a smile on their faces and probably go to their bedroom.
I was lucky enough to see them live in Boston in 1968 at a place called The Sugar Shack. It was kind of unique, I was in my last year in the Navy and three black buddies of mine ask me (a white guy) if I wanted to go see the Delfonics, I said sure! It was a great show, glad I got to go.
Hey y’all Young lady .. you’re REALLY digging my boys! (Delfonics fanatic of 50+ years) 🥰 They had a long career snd this song is but the tip of the Delfonics iceberg! If you want to know about their Legacy and some of their lesser known but still awesome music … hit me up! I love sharing Delfonics love! 😉 Blessings to you both! ❤️🙏🏽
The song was played during the movie as background music in a club. Heartbeats did not sing this in the movie. But the song was played.
It is The Sound of Philly. Check out the architects of the Philly sound. Songwriters and Producers Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff. Also Thom Bell. Great songs with great artists. The catalogue of the Philly sound is one of the best.
Didn't I blow your mind this time is my favorite Delfonics song.... ❤️
The Delfonics with the first musical group that started out as sickness time International recording studio in Philadelphia and then follow the O'Jays and then follow the Stylistics and then follow Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes and then follow Billy Paul
I saw The Delfonics in person and they were fantastic!!! The lead singer, William Hart, had an incredible, beautiful voice and a whole lot of charisma!! They are my favorite group!!
The harmonics are outstanding.
This song put the Delfonics from Phila on the map This is soul music the pathway to inner peace of your soul
To me this song epitomizes the Philly sound. One of my favorite all time ballads.
Yes , youngings , this is what I grew up listening to . Dude the house party’s . This type music is what made me love music.
Please Do The Delfonics “Break Your Promise”, Bloodstone “Outside Woman”, And Smokey Robinson “The Agony And The Ecstasy”
The LEGENDARY Iconic Delfonics
On The Jackson 5 "ABC" album, they do a great cover of this song.
The Delfonics have the Philadelphia sound popular in the 50s and early 60s along side the Motown sound. I know this was released in 68. I was 20 and deployed at the time this came out. I miss these sounds. How do babies get made with today's 'music'? This is hugging your lady on the dance floor music, where you get up close and personal. Yes, BJ, when I was married, I could put a song like this one one the stereo, slide into my wife's arms, sway with her to the music, and change the whole mood of the house.
My dad used to sing this to my mother all the time. They're both gone now but I'm sure he's still singing it to her.
only in the 70,s real soul sadly never to be repeated, delfonics, chi-lites, stylistics, al green, etc, etc, time machine please
It was the Delfonics singing in the five heart beats
Eddie Hollman sang with the Delfonics and in 1970 had a solo hit with "Hey there Lonely Girl", great song
One of my favorites from my childhood. The adults played it all the time.
Wife here...I agree with the comment below.., This song has a 50's sound yet come out of the 70's..."They did have a way of displaying love..And that voice (Beyond incredible)..Looooove this💞
You guys have got to hear The Jackson 5's cover of their songs. Young Michael is awesome. The Delfonics are in a class of their own.
As a follow-up to my last comment, this is one of the best love songs ever written
The movie The five heartbeats was based on an r&b group back in the day called The dells, not the delfonics but close. You two should really look up their music catalog it's going to blow your mind.
That was the Delfonics singing their own song. They played it on the 5 Heartbeats.
To Asia and DJ The Delfonics what's the first Philadelphia group that signed with Sigma sound International recording studio in Philadelphia this is the original song it is not sung by The Five Heartbeats
"Ready or not" is definitely in The Five Heartbeats movie! (The scene where Ducky goes to the girls house and another guy picks her up.)
I had to click when I saw the song my older cousin is the reason I know this song. Love love it!
