That was Barry (a young Barry) in 1968. Barry was 22, Robin - on the piano, and Maurice, one of the guitarist, were around 19. Andy was just a little boy around 10, at this time.

Robert Stigwood, our manager, decided that since Barry did the singing, we couldn’t have Robin standing there doing nothing, so he sat at the piano and pretended to play while I was back on bass again. I mean to say, Robin’s never played a note on the piano at our recording sessions. Not Andy-- Barry. Young Andy was only 10 at this time and didn't get into the U.S. music business until the late 1970's. During the period 1967-73, the Bee Gees -- Barry, Robin, Maurice -- were officially the three brothers with Colin Petersen (blond drummer) and Vince Melouney, lead guitarist. None of the members were bearded until about 1971-72--- around that time Barry and one of the twins (Maurice) grew their beards. Robin very very seldom wore a beard. He preferred being clean-shaven.

This was Barrys signature song. He sung it at the spirit tour (1979) with so much emotion to his wife Linda (she was in the audience with their little son) and also about ten years ago for her with the words "I love you Linda" on a screen on the stage!

An extra chill reaction ⛲! That was Barry Gibb, not Andy Gibb, on lead vocals. Andy Gibb wasn't a part of the group. I see 👁👁 you have reacted to the Bee Gees before: Lonely Days, Closer Than Close, Too Much Heaven, How Deep Is Your Love, Fanny (Be Tender With My Love), Nights On Broadway, To Love Somebody, Heartbreaker, New York Mining Disaster, Stayin' Alive, Night Fever, Jive Talkin', Tomorrow Tomorrow, I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You, Alexander's Ragtime Band/My Old Man's A Dustman (Ballad Of A Refuse Disposal Officer) Medley, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart and You Should Be Dancing. Words was released as a non album A-side single by the Bee Gees' in 1968. The B-side was: Sinking Ships. It was later included on their 1969 compilation album: Best Of The Bee Gees. The song was written by the Bee Gees. The song was produced by the Bee Gees and Robert Stigwood. It was written for the 1967 film: The Mini-Affair. In England, the movie was titled: The Mini Mob. The song was originally written for Cliff Richard, but he never got around to recording it because he wasn't making an album at the time. Rather than wasting the song, the Bee Gees decided to record it themselves. Barry Gibb was the only group member to sing on the song. It was the first Bee Gees' single where only one brother sang. The song reached #15 on the Hot 100 and #19 on the Cash Box 100. It reached #1 in Canada, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. It peaked at #8 on the UK Singles chart. The song was the Bee Gees' second UK Top 10 single after their 1967 single: "Massachusetts". This performance is from the TV show: The Ed Sullivan Show, on March 17, 1968. It was a lip synced performance with Robin Gibb on the piano, Maurice Gibb on guitar, Vince Melouney on guitar and Colin Petersen on drums. The Bee Gees wrote this song after getting in a few arguments and realizing the power of words, how they can make you happy or sad. Robin Gibb: "'Words', reflects a mood, It was written after an argument. Barry had been arguing with someone, I had been arguing with someone, and happened to be in the same mood. [The arguments were] about absolutely nothing. They were just words. That is what the song is all about; words can make you happy or words can make you sad". In 1996, Barry Gibb said on the VH1 show: Storytellers, that it was written for their manager, Robert Stigwood. A cover version 📻of the song by Rita Coolidge hit #25 on the UK Singles chart in 1978. In 1996, a cover version by Irish boy band: Boyzone topped the UK Singles chart. Maurice Gibb declared it (Boyzone) the best ever cover of a Bee Gees' song. In 2019, the Bee Gees' documentary 📽: "Bee Gees: Everlasting Words", was released. Critical Reception 🗣: Cash Box called it a "beautiful ballad line with a semi-soft, somewhat-rock sound obtained by the use of near classic piano, soaring strings and a pop percussion" and a "brilliant vocal lead". Song Credits 📝: Barry Gibb - lead vocals, rhythm guitar Maurice Gibb - bass, piano, Mellotron Robin Gibb - harmony vocals Vince Melouney - rhythm guitar Colin Petersen - drums Bill Shepherd - orchestral arrangement Lyrics 🗒: Smile an everlasting smile A smile can bring you near to me Don't ever let me find you down 'Cause that would bring a tear to me This world has lost its glory Let's start a brand new story now, my love Right now, there'll be no other time And I can show you how, my love Talk in everlasting words And dedicate them all to me And I will give you all my life I'm here if you should call to me You think that I don't even mean A single word I say It's only words and words are all I have To take your heart away You think that I don't even mean A single word I say It's only words and words are all I have To take your heart away It's only words and words are all I have To take your heart away It's only words and words are all I have To take your heart away Bee Gees Info 📰: The Bee Gees, from England, were formed in 1958 by brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. The Bee Gees were influenced by The Beatles, The Everly Brothers, The Mills Brothers, Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, Roy Orbison, The Beach Boys and Stevie Wonder. On the 2014 documentary: The Joy Of The Bee Gees, Barry Gibb said that the Bee Gees were also influenced by The Hollies and Otis Redding. The trio were especially successful in popular music in the late 1960s and early 1970s and later as prominent performers in the disco music era in the mid to late 1970s. The Bee Gees were given their name by Bill Gates. We're not talking about the Microsoft Bill Gates, but a Brisbane radio presenter of that name. He named the group the "BGs" (later changed to "Bee Gees") after his, Barry Gibb's, and speedway promoter Bill Goode's initials. Bill Goode gave the Gibb brothers their first break after he hired them to entertain the crowd at the Redcliffe Speedway in 1960. The group has won a total of 8 Grammy Awards from 16 Grammy Award nominations over the course of their career. The Bee Gees have been referred to in the media as: The Disco Kings, Britain's First Family Of Harmony and The Kings Of Dance Music. The Bee Gees are prominently featured on two classic movie soundtracks: Saturday Night Fever (1977) & Staying Alive (1983). The Bee Gee's younger brother Andy Gibb (March 5, 1958 - March 10, 1988) had a very successful music career as a singer before he prematurely passed away in 1988. Following Maurice Gibb's sudden passing in January 2003 at the age of 53, Barry Gibb and Robin Gibb retired the group's name after 45 years of activity. In 2009, Robin Gibb announced that he and Barry Gibb had agreed that the Bee Gees would re-form and perform again. Robin Gibb passed away in May 2012, aged 62, after a prolonged period of failing health, leaving Barry Gibb as the only surviving member of the group. The discography of the British-Australian musical group Bee Gees consists of 39 albums (including 22 studio albums) and 83 singles. They have scored 9 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including 15 top ten hits and 43 chart entries overall. Billboard ranked them as the 28th Greatest Artist of All Time. Billboard also ranked them as the 14th Greatest Hot 100 Artist of all time. The Bee Gees were inducted in 1994 into the Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as Florida's Artists Hall of Fame in 1995. They were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame in 1997. Also, in 1997 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Bee Gees were appointed Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2002. In 2007, Barry Gibb was ranked by Q magazine at No. 38 on its list of '100 Greatest Singers'. Barry Gibb is also a member of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. In 2023, Barry Gibb was named as a Kennedy Center Honoree for contributions to American culture & for being a "Pop music pioneer". The Bee Gees have sold over 220 million records worldwide placing them among the best-selling music artists of all time. Miscellaneous Note 🗃: Barry Gibb is the only songwriter to have had four consecutive #1s on the Hot 100: "Stayin' Alive", "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water", "Night Fever" and "If I Can't Have You". Since you just reacted to Barry singing Words now you should react to Andy Gibb singing Words live. The video is him in a black tuxedo and he is growing a beard. The similarities in he and Barry's voice and looks are amazing. Twelve years apart they were so much alike down to their identical birthmarks. Andy's girlfriend actress Victoria Principle introduces him. They broke up in the end which of course was very public and Robin wrote the song For Whom The Bell Tolls about it.

First, For Whom the Bell Tolls wasn't written by Robin, but by all 3 brothers. Second, you've been corrected more than once that it wasn't written about Andy's breakup with Victoria. In fact, before I said anything, I looked into it & found nothing on it, other than what was previously mentioned. So stop stating incorrect facts, as that's how rumors spread.
