There are several of their songs that make me cry because of watching them suffer from tragedies. They've worked their butts off for everything. Didn't get recognition they should have.

The explosions in the latter part of the song were made by Barry making that type of noise into a microphone. They all cracked up laughing at the weak sound. Barry did it several more times and then they layered them together. It was released using that sound effect. I don’t know if they used an actual explosion sound in later recordings but the story is great, I think. Back then there weren’t resources available as readily as they are now. No internet.

This song makes you move…it may be sad, but you got to get up and dance. Love the BeeGees

There’s a video that shows them in the studio writing the song. They wrote the music first and they made the lyrics fit.
