It was produced by the Bee Gees, Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson. The Tavares version was produced by Freddie Perren. It (Bee Gees version) peaked at #31 in Australia and #39 on the US AC chart. It (Tavares version) reached #32 on the Hot 100 and #36 on the R&B chart. Many Disco songs are about dancing or celebrating the nightlife, but in this one the singer has discovered his love for a woman he hadn't noticed before, and he wants the world to know it. The sentiment is sweet - "This is the only way that we should fly", but a little creepy - "If I lose your love I know I would die", and it's told very quickly as the Bee Gees knew that getting to the chorus quickly was key to a Disco hit. The Bee Gees started to record the song from February to March 1977 in the Château d'Hérouville, Hérouville in France, continued it in Criteria Studios in Miami in April, and later in September, the song was finished in Cherokee Studios, Los Angeles. Tavares were backstage at a Madison Square Garden concert when the Bee Gees asked them to record the song The song by the Bee Gees was not released as a single in the US and the UK, but it was in other countries such Italy and Australia. Despite that, it has remained a staple on radio, and is one of their best known songs. An abridged live version of the song, performed by the Bee Gees in 1997, is available on both the DVD and CD versions of their concert performance: One Night Only. The interesting thing about this album, movie and group is that most people thought it would fail. Disco was considered “out of style” and people wondered why a movie was made about a faded culture m. The Bee Gees wrote and recorded the songs without Disco or the movie in mind. So the movie was made to the music and the Disco phenomenon became more mainstream because of music that wasn’t organically Disco. Amazing🎼🔥🪩🕺
