Tengri describes heaven in terms of his motherland. He lost his only child at a very young age and somehow I feel he sings his heart out in yearning to see her in the aftermath.

He wishes to see the heavenly homeland again by advocating protecting the environment (the Chinese government has successfully eliminated some deserts in Mongolia and Xinjiang now). And this song is also for reminiscence of his daughter because his daughter died after he wrote this song.

Tengger once had a beautiful daughter, but in 2007, she was diagnosed with a congenital disease. Upon receiving the news, Tengger immediately stopped working and returned to be by his daughter's side to care for her. However, ultimately he was unable to defeat the illness, and his daughter passed away at the young age of 6. After his daughter's passing, Tengger cut his long hair and disappeared for a period of time. When he reemerged, he brought forth an adapted version of the song (Heaven). This song was dedicated to his daughter who is now in heaven, and each word encompasses an ordinary father's deep love for his daughter.

Those "hooos" resonates in my soul and makes me cry.... ;(

Ah, you finally got to Master Tenggeer. This song always reminds me of my grandfather and I find it hard to listen to it without crying. This was the song my grandfather would play to show me where home was to him. He would explain and translate each word so I would understand and painted the horses on the plains so I could see what he missed. This song is a masterpiece and speaks of homesickness for many like him

The fact he was 58 during this performance made it even more amazing

@@yukisong5904 The guy singing is Mongolian, His name is in Mongolian, Mongolian traditional outfits, Mongolian traditional Throat singing, and Mongolian traditional instrument Horse fiddle (I forgot the name), only the lyrics are in Chinese because the show is in China you should sing in Chinese, So it is not Chinese music obviously.

Thank you again for a great reaction! I found Tengri when I first had found Dimash. "Heaven" is so powerful! For me it represents all suppressed feelings of anger, frustration and despair, and I listen to it to let out my own desperation. Great singer, great performance.

So amazing. Love this. Hua Chenyu sung this song for the show The Next in 2017. In this show he has to rearrange songs within 24 hours. His version of Heaven gives a totally different feeling but is also amazing. In Singer 2018 HuaHua asked Tengri to teach him a special vocal technique which he now uses in some of his songs. The song 7 Personalities is one of it. Great reaction. Thank you. 🤗

If you watch Dimash's guest appearance on Singer 2018 covering Lionel Richie's "Hello", now you will recognize Hua Chenyu and Tengri watching from backstage. After meeting Dimash on that night, Tengri got together with Dimash for a duet on the song "Swan Goose". I don't know of a better Tengri performance than the one you just watched. He was equating heaven with his unspoiled homeland, ending with saying to just leave it alone, and let it return to its natural state. Then after his daughter died, heaven also referred to her being alive. Hua chenyu is a rubbish, his music is terrible as hell, he can sit there with Jessie J and Tengri cause he has a rich dad

The pain in his heart for the lost of his daughter must have been revived while he was making this performance.

You need to listen to the The Hu, HUVE, HUVE, HUVE, a Mongolian metal band, some throat singing but also subtitles so you know what is being said. You have no idea how good they are!

Hi. I'm one of the people who recommended this performance. I suggested you get the version with the English subtitles but in retrospect It's maybe just as well you didn't. Like me when I first heard it, you were struck by the power and emotion without even knowing what the lyrics meant. You'd have been jelly if you had. Now I'm going to urge you to watch some of Jessie J's performances on the same show. Being British you might think you know Jessie J so it won't be anything new but on this show she was a different animal. I'm just going to suggest her version of Prince's "Purple Rain" and if you watch it I won't have to say any more.

from what i know: the song was originally written for his homeland (my homeland, my heaven). years later he lost his 6.y.o daughter. although its not "officially" said, i do believe that part of emotion was merged into this performance. the last part does feel like a hopeless father or a lone wolf screaming desperately in the wild. and that last line (顺其自然，一切如故）in mogolian meaning "let nature take its course, everything will be just as is" does impose a deeper meaning.

I love your reaction to this, as English speakers we forget music is universal, we don’t need to know the words to be moved, and just like you, I was so moved by this performance, it’s only after you learn what this song was about and how he sings this for his daughter who passed at a young age that it’s becomes even more meaningful and fabulous!!! I’m sure people have recommended Hua Chenyu to you, but his Fake Monk video from this show is absolutely ETHEREAL, trust me it’s worth a listen, even if it’s not a video maybe just for yourself, but he is hugely popular and it will probably garner pretty good views!! Besides everything Hua Chenyu, i have only two chinese favourite songs …. This version of Heaven by Tengri and Han Hongs Daybreak. I never listen much to Dimash but his Daybreak cover from his Baiku concert is worth listening to.
