ANOTHER GIFT FROM SCANDANAVIA. AND A SIN THAT SHE IS PRETTY MUCH UNKNOWN beyond the boundaries of Europe. Can sing rings around 99% of the vocalists that people rave about. She is a vocal heart surgeon because her tone and phrasing cut a path to my heart-- every time she sings. So up to you my new friend whom I greatly respect to change all this injustice. Please!!

Nils Bjarne Saltnes I most certainly will! The public school that I went to in NJ USA offered free music and chorus also! My mom rented a cheap clarinet for me until high school. She saved her pennies to buy me a nice wooden clarinet when I reached high school. Music taught me so much it’s priceless. I am loving Norway ❤️.

Loved your reaction: "Where has she been all of my life?". The only other song I know, and love, by Susanne Sundfør, is "When the Lord". But as you've been told, the video is heartbreaking. It's about Lenne Marie Fossen- an amazing photographer, and a very special person, who died from severe anorexia. So some of the pictures are very hard to watch for sensitive people. I believe Susanne Sundfør has written this song especially for the documentary about Lenne Marie. It's beautiful and easily can bring tears into your eyes.

I have recommended songs by Susanne Sundfør before, but I'll repeat myself, because I think she's great. I had the pleasure of watching her live at the start of my studies back in 2007, which coincidentally was also at the beginning of her career. In all the excitement of a new environment, new people, and new teachers, her voice held me fast, and wouldn't let go until she stopped singing. She writes her own lyrics, and they are quite deep. I especially love these songs, which range from synth-pop to folk and alternative: "The brothel", " White Foxes", "Fade away", " When the lord" (documentary soundtrack), "Never ever" and "Running to the sea" (the last two in collaboration with Röyksopp).

@@tantalus_complex I don't know how other people think when they find their favourite artists. Personally I start with the voice and the sound. Then the lyrics come into play, and finally I can appreciate the whole of the artistry and ingenuity. So what I mean is that it's the soul and personality of the voice that first captures me as a listener. Hearing her live actually shook me, because her voice was so wonderful, strong and imbued with feeling. I've heard many great singers since, but she retained a place in my memory of greatest musical experiences.

I found her by accident 13 years ago when I was doing music discovery by typing random phrases into a music service and briefly listening to clips. Turkish Delight sucked me in immediately and she rocketed to the top of my favorites immediately upon hearing the rest of _The Brothel_ album. Susanne Sundør and Eivør are forever wired into how I process pain and grief. So from the midwest United States, I wave and close my eyes to listen along with you.

Susanne is an amazing artist. My dad introduced me to her in 2012. Been addicted since and have seen her live a few times. She is really prolific having released 6 studio albums and she composes and writes almost everything herself. Can strongly recommend almost all of her songs but three favourites, "The Brothel" (tile song form 2010 album, she once preformed it in a church in my home town magical and kinda ironic), "the silicone veil" (another title song and my first introduction to her), and "the sounds of war" is just such a statement from the first seconds of the song.

Susanne's is my favorite voice in the world. So glad I discovered her through Royksopp with the song "Running to the sea"- when I heard her voice for the first time over that piano tune, well, that was as good as introduction to one of the most amazing voices ever as any. Her voice is incredibly warm, comfortable and at the same time haunting and hurting. Some of her songs (especially "When the Lord" and "Brothel") feel like an angel shifting your internal organs. Heidi Farstad Kvalheim Angelina Jordan is an artist in her own right, mostly covering artists within different genres with her own interpretations. Still being a child she has been a professional since she was 8 years old. At this age her musical understanding, her vocals and interpretations of songs have gained her an enormous international publicity. Even Aurora has made covers of other artists songs - with her personal interpretations. And by the way: Angelina has also made original music: check out Shield and Oslo. In my opinion Aurora, Angelina and Susanne are all artists making music!

@@heidifarstadkvalheim4952 I disagree. Angelina has her own songs, but her covers are often rearranged a lot, and she are a true artist on her own. Ex. Who has made "Bohemian rapsody" and "I put a spell on you" like her versions? That's make a true artist. But yes. Susanne Sundfør is one of the best norwegian artists. Along with Aurora, Angelina Jordan, Ane Brun, Madrugada/Sivert Høyem, etc. Korea has K-pop, but I'm thinking Norwegian pop (N-pop?) is really strong for the moment.

We are spoiled here in Norway, and the nordic countries as a whole, really. Alot of great swedish artists too. It is difficult to win over a norwegian/nordic audience, low numbers of populations, means In order to make it as an artist, to make a living of it, you need to reach the heart of a larger percentage of the population than in more populated areas/countries. So the quality of the music, the lyrics and the voice(s), and even the way they convey their music to the listeners, must be something truly special, and reach the heart of a multigenerational and multi-demographic audience and listeners. I think that is also why they get better and better recognition from international audience as well, from all age groups, now that it is much easier to spread/share great music talents with the whole world through social media :)

Great React!! If you liked this one. Then pls check out her early material as well. And continue with her live performance, because its one of her Trademarks. She is absoluttly Fab on live performance. Her material is quite adverse, you cannot put her in a box. Her last record put her back on her roots of her first record. Music for people in Trouble has been rated one of the strongest record that came out that year. Her name assosiates with quality among musicians. I was lucky to see her live two years ago. Best performance i have ever seen live. She travel with talented co host crew. She usually pick top prem sound stages around the world. Stoller Hall is indeed one of them.

Good afternoon to you Adam STRAUGHAN.This girl has so many talents, beautiful colors of her voice. The difficulties of her performing are that she was in live. She begins smoothly with the arangement accapela with the piano. It's the firt time, , i have the chance to hear this amazing song as you. She sings not only with her voice, her body , her heard. The big qualities of herself, without afraiid to think to be to hearing from other people. The duet is so amazing, unbelievable , i wich her sincerly a big success, she has found her way, so awsome.A future star, such Dimash or Marc MARTEL or Caleb COLES and so one.It was a comment from Franck from France, Have a nice day . Take care, bye, bye!

I really don't know how she does it. I've seen Shiny Toy Guns and Placebo when the main singers have had serious problems belting out their tunes, but my favourite full performance by Susanne at Oya, she's clearly full up with something but after missing a few notes in the intro on 'Darlings' she blows the entire show away.

Ooh, now you've gone and done it! Tons of gorgeous music to dig up here. I second the recommendation of "When the Lord" as something truly beautiful and quite new from her. Pretty much anything by her is great, so you can't go much wrong. Try "Darlings". A very short, but heavenly, angelic composition that just soars and soars... and ends. She also has quite poppy songs, with good melodies.

Darlings is perfect. Tune, vocals, lyrics, all heartbreaking, then as it's building up to some epic crescendo, it just ends, as you say. Which somehow captures the soul destroying kind of anticlimax the song describes perfectly. Then it breaks into the emotional frenzy of the rest of Ten Love Songs.

Susanne's "Ten Love Songs" was one of my favourite albums of 2015. Lots of great stuff on there. And you really should check out her collaboration with fellow Norwegians Röyksopp! They did a brilliant cover of what might be the most obscure Depeche Mode song you could imagine, "Ice Machine", which was the b-side of their very first single "Dreaming Of Me" back in 1981. Love the original, but this is one of those cases when the cover is actually better. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mnqEzql9e8rPicY.html

I liatened to it 6 times straight and cried 6 times. So Adam saw you had similar reaction and suggest you watch the version in color from Oslo Opera House. Her facial expressions and the way she feels when to go soft and gentle and then ride the highs of this gorgeous melody and lets go into pure anguish is so moving and I would also listen to her song fro Oblivion is approaching Eivor land. Stunning and so deeply emotional. A very rare and gifted talent-- from Norway like Aurora.

Just one last tidbid about Susanne S. As someone said, she is indeed very clever about her sound quality on Live set, her voice pitch(in her Voice there are many mansions). But i would also point out her Lyrics, which yes is much based on her past expirience. They are clever aranged, like in Memorial, Turkish Delight, and Undercover here. But one thing that do stand out is Susannes use of just enough sound on her Material. She has some songs where she goes all out, like in her Studio Memorial version, where she is on par with Hans Zimmer, Philips Glass, M83 etc. And also check out her Father Father Live version, where she kind of drops into Opera performance. She is certaintly not afraid(she produced some of here Records!), even if she has been open with some of her personaly life. But hey who isn't struggling these days! Here is a very rare but awesome Live performance of Memorial(pardon the bad background noise), it starts around 01:00: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6uW3MWndK_LgqQ.html Here is good case of less is more sound, Sound of War: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rGaYqZOciLCfoso.html Lotsa sound, Father Father: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2F1trtwgbzSZ5s.html And a Crazy Stevie Nicks "Wild Heart Cover: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKOaj8SjZq2Zp5M.html O Master, insane Octave switch: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nHynm7hphsbPYbA.html
