Em brought massive attention from people from all different backgrounds and helped get rap back on top. I listened to heavy metal and Eminem growing up. My first four CDs were notorious big life after death, tool, Pantera and Eminems debut album. I remember cruising around in Kentucky hitting cruises listening to the mmlp. Great times.

Also, "I'm signing CD's while the police finger print me" is still one of the HARDEST, most slept on lines Em has put out. Because not only is it SO deep in regard to what was happening in his life, but it just goes to show how BIG OF AN ARTIST he is. When even the cops are processing him, he gets people wanting to meet him and get autographs.

Facts, he only got more lyrical as he got older although his songs didn’t have quite as deep of meaning bc at 50 years old he’s done every song possible about his life and feelings so now he just puts on a technical show.

11:59 Em breathed in new life into the game. From 2000-2005 Em dominated the music industry (not just the hip hop genre, but music as a whole). He took Hip Hop global because he blew up not just in the USA but all over the world. People who had never even heard the genre were introduced to rap/hip hop through Eminem in many countries. It fuelled rap in many countries' local music scene. These years are widely regarded as Eminem's peak - he put out three classic albums, featured with Jay Z on Renegade (he produced that song too) made the 8 Mile movie, and created the 8 Mile soundtrack including the legendary LOSE YOURSELF song which was the first hip hop song to ever win an Oscar. It was during these years that Em also signed a rapper who was being blackballed by the whole music industry. No one wanted to sign this rapper because of his beefs, yet Em signed him on to Shady Records... It was 50 Cent.

Another great reaction love that Aerosmith allowed him to use this sample❤️‍🔥He did get more white kids from the suburbs to start listening to rap when he blew up. This entire LP The Eminem Show is filled with how he felt after he became a target for getting middle American kids listening to hip hop I would like to request Dax new remix of To Be A Man featuring Darius Rucker.❤️‍🔥

Definitely, Eminem changed the rap game. I'm not sure about the rap culture itself, although many artists were influenced by him. I'm not from your country, so I speak from a somewhat unknown place, despite having studied a lot about rap culture. But the one who made me so interested and ended up loving the genre was Eminem. I remember having listened to Coolio, RUN DMC, and some other rappers before, but it was really Eminem who got me interested. And I'm from a distant country located in Latin America.

The thing with Em is he had to scratch and claw for every step he made in the game. White dudes weren't welcome in rap when he came up, so he had to be immaculate to be taken seriously and also had to be real on top of that. No fake shit. He absolutely changed the game with that alone, not even mentioning his effect on word play. There can never be another Em

Aerosmith initially was going to re-record the chorus for this track, but Eminem preferred the sound of the original so they used that. Glad you found an uncensored version. "In the land of a killer, a sinners mind is his sanctum" You should start thinking about looking at some interviews/specials on Eminem and his life. There are a number of good ones including one with Anderson Cooper where they go back to some of his old neighborhood. He makes lots of references and pulls his experiences into his music. Eminem made a MASSIVE shift in music. He brought in new fans from other countries others couldn't. He got the attention of white suburban parents who finally paid attention to the music their kids were listening to. He is one of the more popular (imo) artists that puts so much emotion and his real experiences into his music which makes him feel more relatable and connected to his fans.

Still think that Em's 3rd verse sums up perfectly why artists keep putting something out for their fans. It isn't for everyone, and they know that... but for that ONE kid is one the verge, hanging on by a thread, to have a new album or track to sit back and vibe to in order to dig deep and get through their problem? WELL, that alone is worth it for an artist trying to reach someone.

Music, like alcohol or anything else, cannot make you do something AGAINST your will. No. But an argument could be made, it might CHANGE your will, so you now willfully do something you wouldn’t otherwise. (Google the Hungarian Suicide Song for more on that.)

*Eminem went on trial for weapon concealment shortly before this song, when he allegedly pistol-whipped John Guerra. Guerra was a bouncer at the club Hot Rocks, and Eminem hit him when he saw him kissing his wife at the time, Kim. But Em claims that he hit him with his fist, not the gun, and Guerra was just making shit up to get him in trouble; as a matter of fact Em was eventually forced to pay Guerra $100,000 to settle the lawsuit.*

Yeah, Eminem changed rap significantly. Not like Rakim, who changed how people rapped and how rhymes were structured, but Eminem changed the people who consumed it. Being both super talented and white, he opened up hip hop to more of a widescale audience that, before him, was mostly just contained to black people. For the first time, white people had someone in hip hop who they could relate to, so they swarmed to him. And Eminem was a major cause in turning hip hop into the most popular genre on the planet because a huge number of the people he brought in started to find guys like Jay, Nas, 50, etc
