I love her version of this song it is more heartfelt especially because she was pouring out her feeling toward her abusive mom after she passed away in a car accident when Sinéad was 18 years old. This is why Sinead fought hard to put on blast Child Abusers (Her dad also had part in her abuse). She had such a horrible childhood in the hands of very abusive parents. RIP Sweet Angel 😥🙏🦋♥

I love the fact that Prince wrote such a great song but yet he was so confident in himself that when he saw Sinead O' connor sing and loved her voice, he made the arrangements to offer it to her. and the rest is history.

That's not true where did you hear that story, Prince did not like when other people who weren't his friends cover his song. The only reason Sinead O'Connor was able to cover this song was because Prince's record label Warner Bros. owned the rights to his masters at the time and they approved Sinead O'Connor covering this song. Prince actually wrote this song in 1984 and gave it to a group he started called The Family who's version is the best in my opinion.

Her career was essentially over once she tore up the picture of the Pope on SNL to protest against the child sex abuse that was rampant within the church at the time and the subsequent coverup of the abuse. Most Americans weren’t aware of the abuse until years later so the backlash that she was “anti-Christian” was immediate after that performance. Her mental health struggles likely keep her from really performing again, but she’ll forever be an icon for standing up for what is right. Not only did she stand up for the children who were abused by trusted clergy members, she also shaved her head as a big 🖕 to the record execs who objectified her by pressuring her for sex and pushing her to wear skimpy clothing for a more ‘sexy’ image. She made impacts in very significant ways, even at her own peril, and I hope she gets the recognition for it that she deserves.

she wrote black boys on Mopends she wrote that song about the murder of a black boy in London, she was a defender of human rights. she spoke about what happened in the church when nobody wanted to talk, and I was banned, but later we know it was true.. in the Grammy Award. O’Connor topped off her outfit by painting Public Enemy’s yellow and black bullseye logo on the left side of her head, effectively giving the group, and the entire genre of hip-hop, a prominent place on network TV, O’Connor was firm in her convictions. Two years later, in 1991, Public Enemy protested the Grammys again over the ceremony’s refusal to televise the presentation of the rap categories. O’Connor-who was nominated for four awards that year, including Record of the Year-also boycotted for separate reasons, withdrawing herself from consideration and refusing to perform her nominated hit song “Nothing Compares 2 U” on the show. Rest in peace."

She talked against the Catholic Church and the world turned against her. That killed her career.

Virginia Durant. Definitely only the Catholics who defended and those who were implicated in the sexual abuse going on in the Catholics Church turned against her.

I always thought Prince's song could not be covered any better than this version by SInead O'Connor........... until I heard Chris Cornell cover it. A must listen.

Great song and great reaction. She is really crying, not fake. She sort of drop off the music scene after being black-listed for tearing up picture of the pope live on SNL. She is beautiful, with beautiful voice and I love everything she sings, she can rip your heart out with her emotive singing.

Her ex-husband took her kids away because she is bipolar disorder and usually they don't take the kids away, but he took all of her money so she could not get a good lawyer and he could later she got some visitations ,but not much he made sure of that and he was already rich to begin with. She also lost her career because of her political stance. Much love to you and your family 💕Brandi Modrak 💕❤💙

Sinead did this good. I don't want to take anything away from her. It's Prince's song. He wrote it , gave it to Sinead. Made her a star. But it was Prince.
