Prince was absolutely a lyrical GENIUS! This is most likely the biggest cover of the song and I know it's my favorite version (people will argue with me over whose cover was more famous but I don't even care about that). This one was all over VH1 but MTV did not take too well to it at the time (if I remember right, it was 1986 - '87, I think but I could be wrong. It has been long enough and my memory is crap).

I'm 47 and was babysitting when the song came out. It moved my soul then and it does today. I so love your reaction. Very happy I watched with you.👍🦋

Dude! You must listen/react to more Sinead. Many great songs and albums. Great songwriter in her own right and an incomparable voice. I’m new to your channel btw. Hardcore Sinead fan here. She’s incredibly versatile and every album is different. I would recommend audio/album versions of: Troy, Just Like U Said It Would B, Fire on Babylon, Black Boys on Mopeds, Three Babies, Daddy I’m Fine, her version of Elton John’s Sacrifice, … the list goes on and on. :)

The video features mostly a closeup on Sinéad O'Connor's face as she sings through feelings of sadness and anger while singing the lyrics. The other segments see her walking through the Parc de Saint-Cloud in Paris. By the end of the video, two tears are seen rolling down her face, one on each cheek. O'Connor later said that the tears were real. She didn't expect to cry, but then thought, "I should let this happen." She explained that the tears came after thinking about her mother, who died in a car accident in 1985.

It's VH1's "I Love The 90s" where the reactors made fun (not in a bad way) of the song and Sinead in the video. Hal Sparks put an eyedrop in his eye to mimic her tear at the end of the video and another reactor said "Light up, Sinead".
