My son is the lead guitarist in a Pink Floyd cover band in Australia called Echoes of Pink Floyd. Every time he plays that long guitar solo in Comfortably Numb he gets a standing ovation. Gives me goosebumps every time.

Pink Floyd didn't write songs..they wrote albums, each one is a journey. You have to start at the beginning and listen till the end.

No you don't. Echoes isn't any less of a great song just because you didn't listen to Seamus first. Same goes for WYWH, CN, Sheep, Money etc etc etc. You can start anywhere you like.

@@juicebox268 Only DSOTM, WYWH, and TW were written as albums. More and OBC were soundtracks, so the songs were in movie order. TFC is just a collection of leftovers in no particular order. Animals had old songs retitled to fit a theme. Meddle and everything previous are just mixed songs. Your blanket 'have to start at beginning' assertion is incorrect.

This is a rocker grandma speaking. I remember when this album came out. The way to really understand their music is to sit down alone, put on headphones, and just listen to the entire album in one go. NO TALKING, NO PAUSING. This is what used to be called a “concept album”. Listening to one track by itself does not do it. Try it. Same thing with Wish You Were Here. Both GREAT albums that tell a story in consecutive tracks.

I've come to determine that too many people use that statement with artists they really love just to make the statement. Prince was such an underrated entertainer and guitarist. Eddie Van Halen was so underrated. Jeff Beck is so underrated. Kirk Hammett is underrated. Gary Moore is underrated. Jimi Hendrix is underrated. Just ridiculous.

Gentlemen if you are going to delve deep into rock, it would be helpful to you to know the eras and genres, there is great historical significance in understanding where each band fits in the tree, Pink Floyd is an amazing band that was earlier in the timeline compared to you, they would be more in the classic rock genre of the 70s, of which rock evolves as time goes on, you get into punk/thrash/metal at the end of the 70s, beginning of the 80s when Metallica comes along. There are hundreds of iconic bands and THOUSANDS of songs out there, so pick a group, google a little info on them so you know where they came from, who they were influenced by, it will all eventually all fit together for you, enhancing your journey through history.

Swear I love watching these reactions 🤘🏼🎸
The four of you have stumbled onto music that many people consider to be the best of all time, for reasons that become obvious as you interact with more of the music. For YT reaction videos, you will get a huge return on views if you react to the live version of this song or pretty much anything from the 1994 Pulse live tour. IMPORTANT: You will NOT need to pause Pink Floyd on KZread, there is no penalty or removal of videos for doing it with their music, so when you are in the middle of a Gilmour guitar solo you won't get in trouble if you don't pause it. The studio albums are amazing, but there's never been a better live band in history, period. There are hundreds of reaction videos to the live version of Comfortably Numb on the Pulse 1994 tour because he goes on a much longer solo at the end of the song and the stadium show that goes with it is mindblowing, and literally everyone who reacts to the video is amazed at what they're seeing. (That's why reaction videos get so many views, and because people like me who attended these shows know they experienced the greatest musical experiences of their lifetimes and they come here to watch other people who've never heard of it react to it for the first time, so they can re-experience what it was like when they first heard the music.) Everyone else will tell you which other Pink Floyd to react to, but start with the Pulse concert and make sure not to pause the guitar solos. Also one tip, people will recommend Great Gig in the Sky but for that one, find the studio version. It's one of those first take miracles.

that is absolutely correct: let people learn how to COMPARE and start re-using real instruments and voice. no autotunes and other fake stuff which won't stay in anyone's memory.
Pretty sure Dark Side of the Moon is still on the Billboard top 200 and it came out in 1973. Burn down and listen to the whole album. Shit’s magical, especially on headphones or in a car with a great stereo. Mind blowing shit. It was just them and their instruments and a studio… and drugs obviously. It was the early 70’s. Everything was cool back then

Money, Time, Have A Cigar...one of the best bands of all time!!! The album The Wall tells a story and is meant to be listened to from beginning to end, thats what all the chatter at the start of the song is from. And although everyone is talking about the drugs - who "peaks" from weed? - it's the headphones part that really makes a difference. PF was a band that put meaningful details into their music, details that can't really be appreciated without better sonic equipment.
Oh I love pink Floyd, wait for it guys.their drummer is awesome.
You fellas experienced greatness that day. :-)
Syd was lead vocalist when they first started out -- His friend David Gilmore took over as vocalist and guitar and was singing and playing this song -- Syd is a sad story -- He did not kill himself but died from pancreatic cancer at 60 years old -- He struggled with mental illness (schizophrenia) and could not keep his place in the band but they missed him so much that many of their best songs are about him -- The Wall --- Wish You Were Here -- Shine on You Crazy Diamond (SYD) --

actually roger waters was singing the verses and david was singing the chorus. david wrote the majority of this one which was one of the only real contributions lyrically that dictator roger waters allowed him to have on the album The Wall. 2 musical geniuses in one band with 2 egos to match created too much friction. Really don't like Roger's wild politics or his way of trying to rule over the rest of the band, but their music really suffered once he left

Yeah, Syd was one of those rock stars who really wanted to be famous right up until he actually became famous....then he realized it wasn't for him. One weekend in particular Syd went on a 2 day acid trip and was never the same afterwards. Then the rest of the band kinda had no choice but to make preparations for life and music without Syd. But he was a remarkable talent....some of my favorite Floyd material was written by him! RIP Roger "Syd" Barrett.

One of the greatest bands in rock and roll history. The album cover shown in your video is "Dark Side Of The Moon". One of largest selling albums in history (on the Billboard Charts for something like 30 years). This song is from a later album called "The Wall". Any Pink Floyd album needs to be experienced in it's entirety.
This is the song I'm having played at my funeral. It means so much to me. When I was a young teen with drug, drink, and mental health issues, this song saved me. I love Pink Floyd.

All 3 guitar solos in this song are regularly ranked in the yearly top 10 solos of all time. Often in the number 1 spot. Yes, this is stoner rock. You smoke a Fatboy, pop on the headphones and back and vibe. You will find out that their albums don't pause in between songs. They kinda melt into one another.

Tbh, describing this as 'stoner rock' is abit disrespectful to arguably the greatest group in the history of rock music. Yes, I'm aware the Led Zeppelin could have something to say about that, hence 'arguably'... ;) Their music sounds incredible, whether off your face or not! :)
