This by far the best version of this song. Their voices are magical together!!! Diana Ross can sing it too but Tammy & Marvin sang it into history. We lost Tammy too soon to cancer because she blessed us with her heavenly voice. Please listen to more of her music & keep her spirit alive. God bless you.

Marvin Gaye was part of early Motown in the 1960's. He had a lot of great duets with Tammi Terrell such as "Your Precious Love", "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing", "You're All I Need To Get By", "If I Could Build My Whole World Around You" etc. Sadly Tammi died young in 1970 at the age of only 24. Marvin never got over her death.

Marvin and Tammi's voices were perfectly blended. Together their voices sounded like something from heaven. They were truly special! The instrumental track was laid down by the fabulous 'Funk Brothers'. They played on all the tracks Motown did while in Detroit, before the company move to Los Angeles. It was arranged I believe by Paul Riser. Adding all the horns and strings. Himself a very young Motown arranger not long out of high school. Talent abounded at Motown. Peace to you both!

We were so darn lucky to have such amazingly talented singers like Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell to listen to back in the day. It makes me so happy to see young people like the both of you experiencing and appreciating what we took for granted. Sadly, they both left us far too soon, but thankfully the music they created lives on.
