His label asked him to do a disco track and he didn't want to. He wrote this thinking they would reject it. The longer version is on the album.

The dance floor used to get crowded with this jam.
So happy you finally got to listen to this hidden gem banger that us old folks have known about for decades.
I was around 14 when this song came out. We used to hang out at the park on Sundays and I remember hearing this song coming from the lowriders who were cruising through the park, showing off their cars. I loved it and this song!
THIS SONG WAS ALWAYS PLAYING AT PARTIES, ALWAYS PART OF A 12 HOUR REEL TO REEL....🔥🔥🔥😍❤😍😎😎😎😎😎🔥🎸😍❤😎💋💋💋🙏RIP MARVIN🙏❤❤

Marvin Gaye ❤ was the absolute smoothest.Keep these great disco/dance hits coming!
Mr. Marvin Gaye was such a musical genius! Great reaction, Asia and BJ!🤓🤠❤️
Asia & BJ, you'll love Marvin's "Lets Get It On" !!! He had amazing duets with Tammi Terrell such as "Aint No Mountain High Enough", "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" and "You're All I Need to Get By"!!!

Surle...they've done those songs I think.

"Ain't no mountain high enough" was a duet with Diana Ross, actually.

@Benaboo73 The original "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" was by Marvin and Tammy in 1967. Diana covered it solo 1970(not a duet). Look it up and learn something.

Sure, and while you're at it, maybe, JUST maybe, you can be nice instead of insinuating that I'm stupid. Learn something? Really? I don't think Asia and B.J. would appreciate the attitude you've copped. You could have phrased it better, instead of being so rude.
One of my favorites from Marvin Gaye. Great tune!✌️❤️🎶
This and Let's Get it On are Marvin Gaye's masterpieces.
This song is so funky that it’s guaranteed to get you up no matter what age you are
This is one of the greatest party jams of all times!
From what I understood, Marvin Gaye was very reluctant to record anything that had to do with the hottest sound in the world at the time "DISCO". Turned out it didn't matter as this song hit Number 1 not only on the Disco charts but No 1 on both the Hot 100 and R&B charts in the Summer of '77. Fun Fact: @ 3:42 Marvin Gaye pays tribute to Soul Train's Don Cornelius he greets by saying "Say Don, say Don. Hey man, I didnt know you was here"...

Angelo, now everyone likes the old disco! And if they say the don't...their liars! Lol....
One of my two memories of my father dancing was this song and a Stevie Wonder song. On song we had a house party and he was in the corner just jamming! 🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾This song will always remind my of my father. 💜💜💜💜

Loving thoughts with you're father...I lost a young 38 year old sister, hospitals fault, then my Mother died of a broken heart...we will see our lives ved ones in heaven. Frankly, with this crazy world....I can't wait!
Love it! This is my favourite from Gaye. This guy had the funk.
What a jam!
One of my very favorite songs ever! Loved the reaction!
A great singer, performer and a gorgeous looking man
The mirroring effect of hearing a party in the song while at a party forces your body to join the- FORGET THAT! COOKOUT CLASSIC!
I was first introduced to this song at a picnic in Del Rio, Texas. Blew me away...Nobody was better!
That's the one! Me and my girls all dressed up gettin' down at Gatsby's Disco in Cincinnati, Ohio back in 1977 and 1978. This one always opened Wednesday night for Ladies' Night!
This is the song at family gatherings , that would start the SOUL TRAIN LINE.
An Early MUST HEAR Classic,, Marvin Gaye "I'll Be Doggone" It Was His First Million Selling Record & His First #1 Single On The R&B Chart & Would Stay There For 2 Weeks..It Was Written By Smokey Robinson & Was Offered To TheTemptations First,, But They Rejected It.
Now you know where the song Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke (Pharrell Williams) came from, your listening to the track.
"As long as you're groovin' there's always a chance." Mantra for life!😂
This song is on my playlist!!! We danced our as$es off to this one! STILL DANCING! Lol. Thank you beautiful Asia and BJ.👀😁❤
Always ready to hear some Marvin Gaye! Just love his music. Enjoyed your reaction guys!
This song always reminds me of the movie "Barbershop." If you haven't seen it, you should. It's very funny!
Ahhh , y'all taking me back to me back to my old house party DJ sets. This is the song that played so long I could go to the bathroom , eat and have a minute to get a little 💋 kiss!!!
one of the most underrate dance songs ever!
In the midst of all the voices, you can hear Marvin Gaye speak to Don Cornelius, who walked in as Gaye was putting this together.
The LEGENDARY Iconic Mr Marvin Gaye ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is the number 1song for a Soul train line, checkout him singing I WANT YOU
Marvin was always on the beach with me😎😎
Another cut that was in constant rotation in our barracks while deployed overseas "76-78" me an the fella's sippin & groovin during R & R!! Ahhhh the memories!! Shoutout to the ole 86th. Tactical Fighter Wing!! USAFE HEADQUARTERS EUROPE & AFRICA!! 🇺🇲✈️✈️✈️✈️👌
Not sure if you can find it on YT but there is a track out there with a voice only demo of a few legendary artists like Marvin Gaye, Freddie Mercury and a few others that is just stunning to listen to in regards to how special their voices were even without any music.
A CLASSIC 70s dance track (which had a 11 minute dance remix at the time). Percolating percussion that Marvin’s voice rode to perfection!
Marvin is Timeless !!!
I remember my mom blasting Marvin on Sunday’s as a kid while was cleaning the house. Always loved this song. Marvin Gaye definitely a top ten artist of all time!
Los Angeles, CA. I was 12 years old and hearing this blaring from lots of homes in the neighborhood. Most popular...
His voice was an instrument. And a kick-ass band and backup. So glad this was the music of my youth.
Straight party starter. For those who love Motown, I suggest watching the “Hitsville” documentary. Trust me you’ll love it🎼
This song was in the movie This Christmas with Idris Elba, Loretta Devine and Chirs Brown 😊
This takes me back to the days of great house parties!! There were so many great house party songs back then❤❤❤
Thank you both...My favorite song by Marvin.
oh God i miss house parties! this song was lit!
Not for reaction, but ...Marvin Gaye "I want You" Rare footage of GREATNESS... worth a few minutes of anybodies time....
Ooh you hit a nerve with this song! Some of my best memories go hand in hand with this song.
We All Loved Marvin Gay .I Remember The Day I Heard He Was Shot Dead By His Father .I Cried RIP Marvin April 1 1984 And Thats My Birthday April 1st
Back in the day, if you hit a party and they didn’t play this - it’s a shutdown 😁🕺🏽💃🏽
Love me some Marvin Gaye ❤
Members of Gaye’s family sued Thicke and Williams, along with rapper and featured artist on the song, T.I., in 2013 for copyright infringement of Gaye’s 1977 hit song “Got to Give It Up. Long drawn-out copyright battle over Robin Thicke’s 2013 song “Blurred Lines” has ended after a judge ordered Thicke and Pharrell Williams to pay almost $5 million to Marvin Gaye’s estate in the case’s final ruling.
Marvin wasn't ahead of his time, this was his time. Marvin created the sound. All others are imitators.
Interesting about not wanting to do disco. In his book he says his idea of a perfect single is Disco Lady by Johnnie Taylor , although maybe that is more sould than disco despite the title.
Just love the bass on this :)
We used to roller skate to this! Boys on left, girls on the right!!
Some songs are just a part of the world.
Among the background vocals , his late wife Janis
The family of Marvin Gaye actually sued Pharell and Robin Thicke for the hit Blurred Lines fo using Got to Give it Up.
Love me some Marvin
I just love this song
Marvin loved the real Funk, also played instruments, this is hardcore Funk classic
There was a lawsuit from Marvin Gaye family for copyright infringement against Robin Thicke and Pharrell ended in a 5 mil settlement
React to..Marvin Gaye..Just To Keep You Satisfied...from his Let's Get It On album
Legendary
Back then we had Al Green Marvin Gaye Luther Vandross a lot of good singers back then , smokey I don't think you can say there was nobody like Marvin back then but you can say Marvin was one of the best . my opinion

@@Sobeit63 No you were right Luther didn't come around till this '80s Iwas raised from the day I was born on music I was born in 1957 so I love 60s music even though I was a teenager in the 70s , not too crazy about 70s music thank you for your response
I always loved Marvin Gaye when I was a little girl, still do 1985. I remember asking my Mom about his dad shooting him, and she said sometimes bad things happen to good people. 😢 I can't even begin to think the music he could have made, he was a genius, so talented. 😢 You two should check out "Missing You" by Diana Ross, the song is in memory of him, they were real good friends! Great reaction! ❤
There is a longer version...almost 12 minutes...Worth a listen
Serious groove
Heck Yeah this takes me back
The movie “Paul” (about an alien) kind of brought this song back in popularity again a few years ago
at 3:40 I thought BJ was makin' a serious move. love that real affection
Search KZread for Marvin Gaye sings National Anthem. You won’t be disappointed.
BJ was groovin'! 😎
TAMMI TERRELL - my goddess. She has been with me since I was 10. I legit pray to her. 4/29 is a holiday for me. No matter how he tried, he just could not get over her death. Took him 14 years of purgatory here on earth when he went to his dad for assistance to join her. His pain is the soundtrack of our lives.
Love Marvin. ❤️
♥ As long as you're groovin', there's always a chance. My favorite Marvin Gaye song!
great song,
Funny, I had the opposite reaction when I saw who did this one: I always thought it was some Bee Gees / KC & The Sunshine Band type falsetto white boy playing that funky music, white boy.
Pure uncut Funk 🤘🏾
Such a party song Love this?
cool notes
Asia giggling while BJ gets down lol
The bass is great in this song.
No one sounds like him now, either. In a class by himself.
Young or old this song will get you on the floor
GET DOWN!!!!!
Members of Gaye’s family sued Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams, along with rapper and featured artist on the song, T.I."BLURRED LINES", in 2013 for copyright infringement of Gaye’s 1977 hit song “Got to Give It Up.”
Thought about requesting Aaliyahs version of this in the past her version is 🔥
Good one!!
One of my very fave songs…love him…I grew up with the tune Sexual Healing haha …not sure what my parents thought of me watching that video at age 8! Ha
This song makes you move…
Let's do the bump.
Hhe said keep on dancin not standing
Pulse rising, body parts moving… yup, still alive!
Singers were singing in falsetto before Marvin Gaye was
Play the long version 1&2,also ain’t that peculiar, wonderful one,I’ll be doggone, pride and joy,it takes 2 baby and ain’t no mountain high enough
Hard to sit still and listen to this one. We ran to the dance floor or skating rink floor whenever this came on.
