Nobody - Nobody - NOBODY - can put it out there like this tiny giant of a woman!! There will never be another Gladys Knight!! She is the absolute queen!
Gladys Knight had one of the best voices of R&B Singers. Such feeling in her vocals!💖

STILL HAS..THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME
The song is about broken hearts. When a 30 year old Gladys sung it, you heard it on the radio 15 times a day! Truth!❤

YES YES YES THIS WAS THE JAM BACK IN THE DAY
Gladys has one of those voices that, as soon as she starts singing, you know it's her. She can be soft and gentle or she can let it rip. Either way, her vocal style is always distinctive. Thanks for giving this one a listen. It makes me tear up a little every time I hear it.
Gladys sings this song so well and with such feeling that even if you're not in the situation she's singing about you feel like you are.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Gladys Knight one of the great singers of all time.
Gladys Knight is a beautiful, classy, uber-talented LADY who sang with subtle power and an *authenticity of expression* that is so sorely missing in the majority of today’s artists. And The Pips, comprised of male relatives of hers, provided perfect backing vocals (and smooth moves) that were enjoyable to our ears and eyes without ever stealing the focus of the whole - ALL done with elegance and impeccable taste.
Gladys could belt it out but dayum she can tear your heart out with the emotion she sings with.
That's why she is "The Empress of Soul". Something else to check out Gladys at Aretha's funeral, one of the most moving performances
This type of song and lryics is what I grew up with on the daily. This makes hearing the current day songs seem so substandard. Quality lryics, voice and melody are missed in this current generation. IMHO
She sings a live version of this song at age 72, powerful!

It don't matter her age she was and is brilliant ! I loved her voice
She is a very beautiful lady and she has a beautiful iconic voice, you can almost hear her heart breaking as she sang this song
A group and a voice that is overlooked I think. Gladys was such a great singer. But I think they were in the middle of such a plethora of great groups. But they really stood out to me!❤

nobody overlooked her. she and this song were very popular in the early 70s.
Just read in the news that Gladys had to extend her tour in Europe because of popular demand. People LOVE this woman she is almost 80 and people can't get enough of her singing. Not too many singers today will have that type of demand in their 70s
Brings tears to my eyes to hear the way Gladys sung this. She is so soulful with it! Perfect song!!
Oh yeah Glady's is such an emotional & soulful singer. She is feeling those lines she's singing. Geez I was just a little kid in the 1970's but I remember seeing her and the Pips on TV. They left their mark and certainly Glady's did for sure.
I Remember listening to this song back in the 70s... And thinking, This song will never tire, never sound old, everyone can relate to it, Gladys's voice was something very special.
Can't believe it's already a 50 year old song. What's amazing is Gladys can still pull this song off at her age of 79.
This song came out in 73 and still gets me in my feels. As ya'll said, nobody can cover this song. The 'cry' she has In her voice when she sings this song makes you feel the pain. And BJ you're absolutely right that there's a whole lot of folks can relate to what she's singing. Loved the reaction❤
Gladys Knight is the "EMPRESS OF SOUL" and she is the epitome of CLASS!!!
This song was written by Jim Weatherly, who also wrote 'Midnight Train to Georgia' which was also performed GKATP. He is enshrined in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in Nashville. It's always interesting to find out the backstory to some of these wonderfully performed songs!

Did you know that it started out as "Midnight Plane to Houston" Changing it to Georgia and a train was input from GK & Pips
This Gospel Singing Family Would Make A Very Successful Transition To Mainstream Music,, The Staple Singers "I'll Take You There",, "Respect Yourself" & "Uncloudy Day"..ALL TRUE Classics.
Such a beautiful voice and song! Gladys always dressed so elegant but not overwhelming! Such a lady.
You just can't beat 1970s classic R&B music or songs like this one from Gladys Knight & the Pips!
Written by Jim Weatherly who also wrote "Midnight Train To Georgia" and "The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me". 3 great songs for sure by Gladys & The Pips.

Imagine hearing your songs performed so gloriously.
Gladys Knight does really change over the years, the soulful touch, when you hear her now, is the same. That's what we call a legend.
Gladys! One of the best who does NOT get the attention she so easily deserves! ✌
Love Gladys Knight,Pups💕👍geez so much great, talented people ,,diverse people THE worth inside of us all,,much love Blessings 💕👍
My fave Gladys Knight and the Pips song along with IF I WERE YOUR WONAN.
I’m so lucky to have grown up with this music in the background. A real treasure.
I am so glad you felt what I have felt forever when I’m hearing that song… Simply one of the greatest songs of all time
What a singer fabulous
Boy you're bringing back memories when I was 20 years old and first met my future wife. Gladys always had that soulful voice that made you want to cry. You don't find entertainers like this anymore.
Instead of going to my High School prom in 1974 we went to a Gladys Knight concert. I have seen her numerous times throughout the years including one last year. She still sounds great! She is and always has been fabulous!!
What a heartfelt song. I heard this decades ago when it came out and it still has an impact
Gladys is just stunning. Her voice is iconic and draws you in. Well done to the Empress of Soul.

Thanks for listening
Such a heartfelt and emotionally epic song. Her voice, the lyrics, the backup singing by the Pips... just one of the best vocals in a song from my youth. The heartache, sadness and longing in her soaring vocals is so compelling! For me, this is the best song by her and the Pips.
Gladys and the pips, top of the charts back in the Day many hits this is just one of them😊
My first great love was an American GI and we dated until he went back to the States. He gave me the Gladys Knight and the Pips album as a birthday present and always signed the back of each record with his wonderful writing. That was in the 70s! And guess what? We are still in contact with each other after 50 years. And the closeness never left ❣
I am so glad I grew up with these great singers & songs, it takes me back to a better place.
Absolutely stunning vocals from Gladys!! Playlist for sure !

Reminds me of being a little kid when my mother played records in the house. Such a fantastic voice
this is the r and b i love so much. gladys and pips were just so good and i think they still tour occasionally.
The Power in her voice. I love how the backup chorus vocals is so smooth. Timeless and why oh why don`t we make music like this anymore. Just makes me cry that we don`t. Thank you for bringing back the good ole days of music
Gladys could sing anything for me - beautiful voice and with so much feeling. Big up the pips too !
Gladys was the first singer that absolutely stopped me in my tracks... at about age 8 or 9... and she has been stopping my heart ever since....

Back when I was around 9, or 10 I was over my grandmother's house. My cousin Gary was there. He was about a year younger than me. Gladys Knight and the Pips were on some show. And Gary was just losing his shit over her. Ever since then, I became a huge fan. I'm 60 now.

I believe 1972.saw her in Westbury with kool and the gang. A beautiful new hit .the girl I took after 5 years dating gave it 1 more try. But it was not a happy ending
Gladys was in her late 20s when this was released. To me the singles at the end of her Motown/beginning of Buddah was her purple patch. "Didn't You Know (You'd Have To Cry Sometime)", "If I Were Your Woman", "Make Me The Woman That You Go Home To", "Help Me Make It Through The Night", "Neither One Of Us (Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye)", "Midnight Train To Georgia", "I've Got To Use My Imagination", "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me",...."Part Time Love" etc
This one gets me every time. No one like Gladys. A true gem and an American treasure.
And one more thing 😁: I've never heard Gladys hit a bad note. In 50 years!
I love this song. It brings back so many fond memories. Gladys has a strong, soulful voice that lets your mind wonder back to those special days of our youth. Growing up in the Detroit area, we had so much of the Motown sound to enjoy every day. Gladys stands out. Awesome choice.
Listening to this song growing up and until now really takes my worries away.❤❤❤
I went to a gladys concert 2 years ago, she started singing these songs , my eyes started watering , This women has one of the best voices of all time
Thank you Asia & Bj, My Dad passed away in 1999 and Beloved Mother in 2008. Mom loved Gladys, she'd play "You're the best thing that ever happened to Me" for my Dad when they were Cruising. She'd play this Song and "Midnight train to Georgia" She loved Dionne Warwick: Anita Baker, Sara Vaughn, Etta James, Whitney Houston, Sade, Aretha, Roberta Flack, Patti Labelle, Diana Ross & Patti Austin. Dad was a Jazz Musician but he'd play alot of Lionel Ritchie tunes for Mom. I think of them when I hear Gladys, Especially "You're The best thing." Thank You.
I love this song! It’s heartbreaking and Gladys’ voice amazing, as usual!❤❤
Gladys Knight's got to be one of the best voices ever
This is such a fabulous song. Who can't relate to this?? And Gladys sings it with such feeling. And the Pips are terrific as ever. What a treasure they are to the pantheon of musical greats.
an absolutely beautiful voice and song.
This is perhaps the best vocal performances ever recorded, imo. It’s a perfectly written song, but NO OTHER SINGER could have done this song right! I had the good fortune of seeing The Empress of Soul perform live. I melted in my seat 😍 She was my first big celebrity crush…and I’ll always love her music. This is why she’s the Empress!!
That one made me tear up ! This kind of music from the 70's when there was real true talent is long gone ! I'd say we gotta keep this kind of music alive , but it's doing a pretty good job on its own !
TOOK ME BACK TO MY YOUNG DAYZ. RAN ACROSS THIS AND HAVE LISTENED TO THIS A COUPLE TIMES... BOUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES😢
Gladys has played a huge part in my life. I cry almost every time I hear this song. It's one of my all-time faves by her. She's amazing!
Gladys' voice melted into my soul at a very young age. Before I even started school. ❤️
Soooooooooooooooooooooooo many memories. Sadly, just about all of today's youth will never hear this song.
Gladys voice still holds up today.. She's got preserverance ..
Gotta react to the Live version of "Neither One of Us" from Soul Train in the early 70's.... Gladys Knight is a Goddess!!!!❤️❤️❤️
Fabulous Gladys Knight & the Pips! This is my favorite song by her. Thank you for playing and bringing back memories of my young days! Just turned 75!! You two are the sweetest couple. Don’t ever say goodbye, till God calls one of you home.
You just can't imagine this kind of song being sung any better than Gladys, did, does,, meaning there's no one who can sing this song any better, it is Gold now and as it was when I first heard it. (another great song in my personal library)
One of the great R&B songs of all time!
this is a history making song. it won a grammy for best pop performance by a group or duo in 1974. i think that may have been the first time an rnb group had ever done that. gladys knight is one of the greatest ballad singers ever. she is a GOAT. they didn’t give kennedy awards to just anybody. and when it comes to class grace and dignity nobody holds a candle to gladys knight. LEGEND!!!!
I could listen to Gladys’ voice for hours. She was recently honoured at the Kennedy Center Honors and the honor was so well deserved. She still sounds great even today. 👏👏🇨🇦
In the early to mid-70s Gladys Knight and the Pips were like a breath fresh air. Their songs just stood out immediately as something special, which explains why they were so heavily played not only on every pop radio station but every R&B station too.
The way she shapes this song .......and the best voice ever
I listened to Gladys Knight & The Pips sooo many times in the 70’s, when I was young & single, this group had it all 💜💥 Gladys singing just takes you away, you’re right there in the same room, listening to the lyrics, crying, heartbroken but at the same time in love with the message! Maybe they stayed together & didn’t say goodbye ? Check out Midnight Train To Georgia for another amazing recoding 🥰
One of my all-time favorite ballads! Classic R&B! The emotions in her voice stirs your soul! Gladys Knight owns this jam! No one can top this rendition!
Ironically, this was their last hit for Motown Records. It also won them a Grammy for best R&B vocal by a group.
Pure artistry. Raw and authentic. No one could tell an emotional story like the incomparable Gladys Knight
great song great vocals great reaction. so glad i saw Gladys knight and the pips sing this song and many more live beautiful memories of that magical night. love watching your reaction videos keep up the good work guys.
My favorite R&B singer by far. I adore others, like Miss Roberta F., but their is something in her tone, phrasing and intonation. 70 year old dude in NC, love this woman and her talent. An iconic voice from the 70s, the decade of icons.❤❤❤❤❤
Gladys Knights voice is a warm blanket around your heart. Absolutely stunning ❤️
Her voice is off the chain I grew up loving her voice now I'm 65 and and ol white dude but this bring back a flood of memories no one is close
Awe! My favorite Gladys knight and the pips song ❤️✌️
Asia & BJ a dedication song for yous . Best thing that ever happened to me. By Gladys Knight.
Aloha Asia and Bj!!! This song is Gladys Knight and the Pips sang became one of the best and possibly the biggest hit they made happen. The song song is very lovingly beautiful. And in 1974 they won a Grammy for this particular song. That's why it hits you both deeply. Aloha, and Mahalo both of you!!!
I feel that I could live a happy life just listening to R&B from the 60’s and 70’s. What a tremendous pool of great music.
Oh my!! This is deep and moving. Only Gladys can make it feel so strong
Everytime I hear that song I feel overload of mixfeeling,..😂😢😮😅😊❤
Gladys Knight had one of the greatest and most soulful voices of any singer ever. She is truly an icon and legend.
Gladys Knight is an American Treasure!!
i remembered...78 years old man. You both probably don't remembered only because you were youngin back then. Your parents remembered i'm sure...great memories from the past..Thank you both.
Man I loved Gladys Knight and the pips I remember their TV show shows my age Love your reactions rock on
Gladys is known as the Empress of Soul!
She brings so much to her songs. You can feel the raw emotion through the melody, the words, the pauses and the softness contrasting with the powefulness. She is such a great artist and brings such craft to her performances. I admire her so much.
Just love this song. Just love this woman. Empress of soul, what a great title to bestow on this gem of a voice.
I saw her twice in the early 80s in London. I can hear her voice still 💕
This is the Motown sound. This is staple music in my life. I grew up with this. The sound is the famous "FUNK BROTHERS" to see them I suggest you begin with Joan Osborne "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted"
