Creepy, haha... Just the title scares me. Years ago, I had the evening to myself, so I decided to rent a video. I knew the movie was based on English Literature, but I assumed it was going to be a nice Romance story or something. So I proceeded to watch the movie all by myself. To say the least, I didn't sleep very well that night. LOL.

Agreed. What I would give to hear this masterpiece for the first time again. Don't get me wrong, it's never any less amazing on repeated listens....but i will never forget hearing this for the first time. Their was NOBODY like Kate when she burst on the music scene. But countless others like Tori Amos, Bjork and Bat for Lashes have emerged in her shadow
I've known Kate for some years, more as an acquaintance rather than friend. She has a reputation of being a bit reclusive but she is very active in her local community. She is just about the nicest person you could ever meet, she will do just about anything to help other people. Also, although she is now in her sixties she is still absolutely stunningly beautiful. She is definitely one of the classiest music icons this country has ever produced.

Love and Anger is amazing as is The red Shoes which is based on a classic fairy tale.
It's based on Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and in the chorus, you're hearing a ghost's voice, Kathy, who's haunting the OG bad boy, Heathcliff. It's really supposed to be haunting and strange. And her voice is, as usual, flawless.
She was sixteen when she recorded this song. She really captures an ethereal, fairy, witchy feeling, an elvish quality that not too many people can really pull off. She is quite eccentric and literary in her tastes, which I enjoy. As others have noted this song is based upon the novel of the same title by Emily Bronte. I loved the book - don’t listen to the illiterates. The whole Hounds of Love album is also great. The words to The Sensual World come from D.H. Lawrence’s Sons and Lovers.
One of the legends in Music. So many female artists would not be here without Kate. Nobody dares to cover her songs. A few have tried, not very well. She is very respected in the industrie, also by legendary artists of all differents genres. She is a brillant producer, songwriter, player and singer. At 16, David Gilmore from Pink Floyd, introduced her to EMI at 16. EMI gaver two years time, and money, the usually would not do that. She has always full artistic control...incredible talent.
When Elton John got married he said all people wanted to know was, is Kate Bush here.

I’m not into the novel, but I love the Dark Shadows storyline based on it, 1841 Parallel time, a narrative collision of Wuthering Heights and The Lottery mashup. It’s about the last 20 or 30 episodes of the series. It has a much happier ending!

Kate is an ethereal and somewhat weird little pixie who chose to show us who she was - so glad she did because it was truly pretty original.
"Eccentric and Electric". You did a great job describing Kate. The amazing thing about her is that all of her songs sound so different and each one is mesmerizing in its own way. They will grow on you but never bore you. You will slowly realize you're addicted.
Kate Bush is a genius pioneer, this was from her debut album The Kick Inside, 1978. She was signed to EMI at the age of 16, she had by then written around 200 songs. She started writing with piano and voice at the age of 11... she was given total creative control right away, She was the first British female artist to land a #1 hit single written by herself Topping the charts in Europe and the UK and charting several singles in America. By her 4th release, she became the first female artist to produce herself, she was the first to use the Fairlight digital sampler In her production , the first to use the "headset microphone " so she could incorporate choreography into her performance..the list goes on...Kate Bush is a sublime mystery....How is this possible? Welcome to the artist that now many refer to as the "Enigma"... Please check out Running up that Hill Cloudbusting Breathing Army Dreamers

"Once I'd left school I tried to get into a dance school full-time, but no one would accept me as I had no qualifications in ballet. I had almost given up the idea of using dance as an extension of my music, until I met Lindsay Kemp, and that really did change so many of my ideas. He was the first person to actually give me some lessons in movement. I realized there was so much potential with using movement in songs, and I wanted to get a basic technique in order to be able to express myself fully. Lindsay has his own style - it's more like mime - and although he studied in many ballet schools and is technically qualified as a dancer, his classes and style are much more to do with letting go what's inside and expressing that. It doesn't matter if you haven't perfect technique." Kate Bush (Electronics & Music Maker 1982) ~ Lindsay Kemp also studied with the great French Mime Marcel Marceau and his movement developed more into everyday movement and living, elevated to Art. For instance, pouring a cup of tea in a very highly stylized fashion in his real life. He never stopped moving this way, he LIVED the movement. David Bowie also studied with him. It isn't any wonder that both Bowie and Bush have highly elevated stylized mime-like movement in their live performances and videos. Love it that you found Kate. When she burst unto the scene, there was no one, then or ever since, like her. A true and pure original! For future reference, it's best if you do just what you did. Just react to what you are hearing and feeling. If you can't understand the lyrics, don't fret. That's something you do after you hear the initial song. Some songs need more than one listen to fully understand them and it's not something that should hamper your enjoyment of your first listen. Please react to Wow (Version 1) and Babooshka (both of them are music videos)!

I rediscovered it at 18 & then thought it was one of the best songs I've ever heard, & To this day I still love it😎 Beautiful 😎

The same reaction from my kid. I played it for her when she was a little kid and she was repulsed. Then when she was teenager and watched Wuthering Heights (mini-series) for the first time, she rediscovered this song and became obsessed with it. She tried to get all her Bieber loving buddies into Kate Bush and they thought she was crazy lol

I was 8 years when this song aired in 1978 and loved her right away. No one else did at the same age.
Kate bush is one of my favourite musical artist 🥰, wuthering heights is a beautiful song about love and how even death couldn't stop the love she had for heathcliff, and how Kathy returned to her one true love from the other side so they can be together forever on the hill of wuthering heights🤗
My all-time favourite from Kate Bush will always be "Running Up That Hill". Never gets old, never gets boring.
Everything about her music is beautiful and absolutely mesmerizing. It's like she takes you to a different world with her music. I can't think of too many artists that do that as effectively as she does. When I hear her music, everything else just sort of turns off, and I'm spellbound by her.
Kate eccentric, lovely and talented. Babooshka is an interesting track and most of her songs tell a story, this one being from the novel Wuthering heights.
When the song came out I was studying the Book Wuthering Heights in High School and the song bring back memories. Originally published under a male pseudonym, Emily Brontes tortured anti-hero Heathcliff was an orphan found in Liverpool which had been a centre of the British Slave Trade. His unknown origins suggests social question that few women publicly asked or even dared right about at the time.
I don't know much about her, but she is very talented!! She has a dance background, and does the choreography herself, writes her own songs, and I think she arranges her music as well!
This song is about the book "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte. She is literally singing the plot of the book.
Kate Bush is out of this world her voice is so unique one of the best singers ever
This song moves me. It’s brilliantly written and performed. I love how she sings from Kathy’s perspective and gives it that ethereal tone, the fact that she knew it was different and slightly weird makes me respect her more for doing it her way and not for the masses. Her motives were never to get rich and famous. She loves making music and her authenticity comes through. Did you know she recorded this in just a few takes and it’s basically unedited? That is rare in this day and age. Kate Bush is one of the most underrated artists of all time and her work was groundbreaking and highly influential to artists we hear today. But she is an original.
Kate Bush wrote this song (that refers back to an English Literary Classic...) when she was 17 - and she was the first female (in UK history...) to write lyrics, compose the music and sing a piece which ended up becoming a number 1 hit on the UK singles charts. She's unique, and a True Musical Genius - with a voice that's out of this world...
You need to listen to her singing "Running up the hill" its outstanding and updated for the opening ceremony of the 2012 olympic games. It outstanding.

Yes I got so excited hearing the first note and then realised she wasn't actually there.. but close enough i suppose haha. At least Danny Boyle put her entire song in there.

Kate Is a genius. You should listen to “The ninth wave” it’s a suite of songs about a girl that falls overboard and tries to survive...it’s the most creative group of songs since the Beatles Abbey Road medley...I promise it will haunt you for years!

Even though I'm late to this party by a year, since I just found out about JayVee TV a few months back, I just had to watch this because Jayvon, you are just so wholesome in your reactions. You are like a friend who I just want to show music videos to because I'd always get a 100% awesomely wholesome reaction. It is a pleasure seeing you work. Also, it's Kate Bush so I'm totally going to freak out my best friend by linking her other video of this song!
She is unique!!! She tells the story in every aspect of the performance. Running up that hill and Babushka as well as the duet with Peter Gabriel are mesmerising.
Omg! Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill, Hounds of Love, Cloudbusting, This Woman’s Work, Wow, Don’t Give Up (with Peter Gabriel)...
She's amazing isn't she? You have only dipped your toes young man. I've been a fan since I was 8 years old, forty years on I'm still mad crazy about this lady. Enjoy the journey, every song means something not just vapid lyrics. You were in the moment , I still get shivers!
Kate recorded this in one take. It's incredible to think she recorded this at 19 and was the first female artist to get a number one from a self written song. Artists of today, take note. Its so haunting that 45 years on, it still gives me goosebumps. Its even more appreciated if you've read Wuthering Heights. A masterpiece!!
Kate Bush is one of my long-time favorites. She wrote this song when she was 18, inspired by the classic novel "Wuthering Heights".
Hi, it was about Heathcliff and Cathy, love story, from the book by Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights.
She’s an icon in the UK, absolute classic this song and has a special feeling around it
To me it was the same reaction when I listened to this song at first time, I was confused but somehow haunted. I love crazy creative women like her. She inspires me because she’s unique and weird but committed with her style
I first saw this clip in the early 70's, loved her voice and as far as I'm concerned the originator of the contemporary dance category . So you think you can dance, yes Kate Bush can. The voice, The dance , The story, She pulls you into the story with her voice and body, Pure storytelling.
I've long Kate Bush from the first time I saw her videos on cables in the early 80's. This specific song, I still play every now and then, for decades now.
1987 my first experience with Kate Bush. This is indeed an amazing novel and Ms. Bush does an amazing job conveying the story. Ruining Up That Hill was covered by Placebo. I love everything she's ever done.
Kate Bush is a LEGEND and changed the way we see and hear music. Peace and love from Nashville Tn y’all
When you said the first thing you were going to do after the video was to listen to it again because you had a feeling it's a song that would grow on you, well I for one was very moved by that-almost to tears-so welcome to the club. I've grown up with this song and I absolutely love it and it STILL gives me goosebumps. So glad you've discovered her.
She and Mike Oldfield were so extraordinary. Thru her entire career she had to fight the music establishment. They wanted to force her to be Standart nice, but she did it her way.
She's up there with Annie Lennox/Eurythmics for weird brilliance.

She’s amazing and her voice just becomes richer as she ages.
Amazing song inspired by an amazing, gothic book from the mid-Victorian age written by Emily Bronte. The Bronte sisters were all amazingly talented, stuck up in their father's parsonage in Haworth in Yorkshire, going nuts and writing like their lives depended on it. It's wild up there, and lonely.
