One of the best poetic lines ever written. It's not easy to write something that is both that heart crushing and beautiful at the same time. Sadness and awe is the feeling you get as a listener.

he pointedly didn't want it on the album, and it never 'had a life' during his lifetime. meaning he never performed it, gave it the time of day, or public acknowledgement. and so i think in the spirit of that, the fans that sorta more want to go with the mindset of his legacy, his heart, his wishes..... it's fine to enjoy it and love it, but it isn't necessarily 'canon.' as in, a finished product he signed off on and was satisfied with as a work. to me that's a bunch of the difference.

I play keys so I can’t imagine how hard, but if you haven’t checked out Elliot Smith’s guitar arrangements you should. Even as a musician, I was fooled by how kind of humble, almost minimalistic, his tracks were. But then I looked at charts and tabs for his songs, and you’d never imagine what you see on the page would sound so lovely and effortless. But Jeff… he is better at songwriting, singing, playing guitar, performing, and writing poetry than I am at literally anything that exists.

You guys want the TRUE definition of underrated ? THIS is exactly who and what that is. There are not enough people to this day that know much of anything about Jeff Buckley. All most people know is, “He’s the guy who did the lovely version of Hallelujah.” No, not the one from Shrek. That was Rufus Wainwright. This beautiful man got me through one of the one worst heartbreaks of my life. When I started my music channel I flooded it with Jeff Buckley covers. I covered just about any song you can think of and I put my heart and soul into every single one. I’m not going to elude to whether or not they are any good, but I will say I was often accused in the comments of using his vocal tracks, and trying to fool my audience. Lol I don’t even remember how to play half of them anymore because most of them are in odd open tunings and require a lot of finger work. He was no joke on the guitar, and he helped me develop my voice to what it is today. People have no idea how much this man, who was ahead of his time, was a major influence on music for decades to come. Examples: Muse Radiohead Brandi Carlile K.D. Lang John Legend Coldplay Vance Joy You can hear it in a lot of music that came after him. He was taken from us by the mighty Mississippi, and too soon. I guess he was just too beautiful a soul for this cruel world.
