Wow your the first guy I've seen who really understands what happening in that performance and how difficult that is for a guy to do , then when u consider that he wrote the tune arranged it did all the backing vocals and wrote out string arrangements on that album , well it takes it to another level , simply stunning cos his lyrics are some of the best ever written , such a loss. GOD Bless his Soul.

His genre of music was "good". This song is so heartfelt & emotional it's like a cry from a broken heart. I've only recently discovered Jeff Buckley & when I read about how he died in an unfortunate drowning accident, far too young, it hurt...just think of what he might have achieved.

A similar thing happened to a very young Mexican singer, Ariel Camacho, who had multiple songs with 300 million + views. After one of his many concerts, he and a lot of his friends died in a car accident. It's always the GREAT singers with SO MUCH potential that lose their lives far too soon. So sad, but its life ig.

It's hard to say that Jeff fit into any genre, but I think he was being positioned by the label to be a kind of bridge between the grunge rock of the early '90s and a soulful crooner. At least that's how I think of him. When you look at the way he created music and his artistic honesty he was maintaining the credibility of the grunge scene artists while being more diverse, delivering everything from soulful ballads to energetic punk. Needless to say, while the public doesn't know a whole lot about him you could ask almost any singer/musician/songwriter over the age of 30 who their idols are and I'd bet 80% of them would include Jeff Buckley. He really is one of the most underrated artists who ever lived, his voice was incredible, his skill and control was amazing, and he could write and play guitar too. It's a real shame his life was cut so short, it's so sad to think about all the amazing music he could have created in the last 23 years.

Well there's 2 different live BBC versions. Both are fucking unreal. The live video is the more famous, but the live audio from BBC Radio GLR is much more emotional. Basically he was on his way to the interview and was stuck in traffic. The cabbie turned on the radio and the host about to interview him, instead of prepping the audience for Jeff, spent about an hour focusing on his father, Tim Buckley. When he got there he was pissed. The interviewer asked shitty questions. But instead of walking out, he used that anger to fire up his performance of Grace. Haunting

Dude, great reaction!! "He had to be born to..." You nailed it!! His father, the late great Tim Buckley, was also an amazing singer, guitarist, songwriter. React to one of his songs and you will see what I mean. Been listening to all genre's of music for 50 years and in my humble opinion "Grace" is, top to bottom, the greatest album ever produced. Every single song on the track is spectacular!! And, again, check out his father, who was pretty damn spectacular himself!

You have got to listen to the title track from Grace (the French TV version), but also understand he would sing ANYTHING. He did covers of Van Morrison, Edith Piaf, and Nina Simone (Lilac Wine) and killed all of them. He was absolutely fearless. An underrated gem from him is his performance of What Would You Say from Glastonbury 95. Video is grainy but his range is undeniable. I also love the sexy Mojo Pin, the R&B influenced Everybody Here Wants You, and the song he said he wrote to tell his friend Chris Dowd from funk band Fishbone to not leave his pregnant girlfriend the way Jeff's dad Tim walked out on him, called Dream Brother. Powerful stuff. Check it out.

Bro, if you want range, you have to check out his version of Van Morrison’s THE WAY YOUNG LOVERS DO from Live at Sin-e Legacy Edition. It might be his best display of range and ability to adapt a song. When Jeff did a cover, the original singer always has to tip his hat to Jeff for making his version the definitive version. Jeff made every second, every moment the most precious moment to exist in, with so much focus and detail. He hijacked time and space and owned it. Absolutely captivating. The Way Young Lovers Do, Live at Sin-e the Legacy Edition. You will not regret it. ALSO WHAT WILL YOU SAY from Mystery White Boy (live album). And don’t miss Everybody Here Wants You from Sketches for my Sweet Heart the Drunk, The Sky is a Landfill (for lyrics same album) and Satisfied Mind (Same Album).

I watch reaction videos all the time. I’m obsessed with experiencing music for the first time through other prospects ears (eyes?). This was great. I happen to be a bit obsessed with Jeff Buckley, having covered him many nights, having the honor of meeting his best friend/manager (hearing great stories one degree away from him) and ultimately losing my ability to try to write songs due to this strange mentality of, “what else can I ever contribute.” Your reaction was great. And you have a great voice. It made me realize how great it would be to hear a soulful cover of this song by a modern artist. Soulful meaning church like. Anyway, great video. Thanks again!

He's just one of those incredible talents. Like the Sinatra for my generation. The amount of quality songs he made in the short time he had with us was incredible

He could sing even higher than this, you'll hear even higher notes on the album, Grace. It's beautiful.

Someone's probably already commented this but the original "Hallelujah" was by the late great Leonard Cohen.
