Gary Wright is an American singer, songwriter, musician & composer best known for his 1976 hit songs "Dream Weaver" & "Love Is Alive". He was also responsible in helping establish the synthesizer as a leading instrument in rock & pop music.

He also appears on several George Harrison solo albums including All Things Must Pass. I've also wondered if the title of this song was lifted from a lyric by John Lennon in his song "God" from his solo album Plastic Ono Band.

I really miss the mystical, dreamy sounds of these types of songs from my early childhood. They were magical to hear as a little one. Fleetwood Mac's "Hypnotized" is another one.

@@Wolverines77 I was too young for that, but those kinds of songs always remind me of blacklight posters, candle and incense and getting scared when watching "In Search Of". Those things all have a kind of dreamy, fantasy feeling that felt very magical as a child.

Gary Wright is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and composer best known for his 1976 hit songs "Dream Weaver" and "Love Is Alive", and for his role in helping establish the synthesizer as a leading instrument in rock and pop music. He spent some years in London; while in England, he played keyboards on former Beatle George Harrison's triple album All Things Must Pass (1970), but Gary was born & bred in Cresskill, New Jersey, US. You might want to react to "Love is Alive"; that is awesome. 🙂

I saw him at day on the green in Oakland when it came out in 1976. He was great! Fly like an eagle by Steve Miller came out about the same time and it starts out like this and although dreamy, not as dreamy. 10cc also with I’m not in love. I think it was a thing back then. Love that you’re covering this era!

Gary was a member in the prog/psychedelic rock group Spooky Tooth. They were a British band. My mom had a couple of their LP's so that's how I was introduced to Gary Wright. His '71 album "Footprint" has some excellent tracks. Pretty brilliant songwriter and composer that you don't hear enough about. When I seen imadrummin had a couple of Gary Wright requests in, I knew you'd like his style Harri. "Give me the Good Earth" and "Stand for our Rights" from the Footprint album is some great stuff! Great reaction and that's drummin for that, and keep the cool requests coming.

Oh yeah man hey thanks for taking the suggestion that's really encouraging I know you're reading the comments that's awesome yeah you know that keyboard was it's a synthesizer called a string ensemble it was made by arp my brother actually had one it's such a cool instrument in fact you know that early technology that ships couldn't handle all the information without overheating so they had to get a more conductive metal to make the chips out of to make this keyboard work properly so it was made with gold circuitry because school being way more conductive there was much less resistance and of kavya SLI less heat from that I just remember being out Kansas up in the Flint Hills 50 miles Southeast of Wichita and we're out at this Lake and we drove our granddad's old Chevy LUV out to the lake and we had some homegrown from California and I grab the vacant lot and we read that rolled up and we smoked that and the radio was on in the truck and that song came on and it was nighttime you know like late dusk whatever and man I'm telling you that feeling of being out in Cosmos wow you just can't describe it unless you experience it if you notice when he plays that last chord on the string ensemble it was one note that's a total it's just a note down a step down from the key it's supposed to be in and that's what gives it that really ethereal type of effect okay my man I know this guy has another hit it's like My Love Is Alive or something like that I can't remember the name of it I'll have to look it up okay Harry thanks for that

Gary Wright and Walter Murphy added a new sound and multilayering (Thanks to Boston and their inaugural release) to pop music... While Gary Wright and Boston released their first recordings the same year, Tom Scholz of Boston was pioneering the multi-track (24 track) engineering and production technology. An MIT graduate and working for Polaroid Tom used his earnings to build out the studio in his basement... while the technology was cutting edge, the pace of technology would plague his studio upgrades and cause continual delays in recording.
