Then I was curious how long it had been since Connor passed, well it turned out the concert was on the anniversary of his passing (March 20). Eric didn't say that, he doesn't talk to the crowd at all, he just plays. Makes me wonder if it's not usually in his playlist, he just did on that special day.

I was not prepared for this alternate universe where half of my soul memory check system is gone. this song means so much to people who have lost someone close to them like this. I am a full orphan. in our society, a sibling death is the most ignored form of grief...until it happens to you. You sister or brother is your soul keeper, and when one dies they take their share of your soul with him. They don't mean to, but they just do.

My parents lost two of their children. My brother who died when he was five and my sister at 45. I can't imagine their pain. Watching my dad say his final goodbye to her was the most beautifully and gut wrenching moment of my life. My dad died two years after he lost his daughter. The pain was to much. RIP Conner.

The song as everyone has said was a tribute to his son that died at age 4. The video playing while he was singing was a movie called Rush. It was about 2 cops that went undercover and got hooked on heroin. They lost their jobs but at some point she decides to get clean but she still loved him. And she found him overdosed and managed to revive him till she finds him dead in the park. The movie was sad but knowing the meaning of the song was even stronger.

He wrote this after his 4-year-old son fell 50 stories to his death!!! The song was in a movie, I forget the name. But the first time he sang this live was at The Grammys that year, and before the song was finished, everybody in the building was in tears!! It was an amazing TV moment!

This song came out when my baby nephew died, it was playing on the car radio, when I left the hospital, I was crying so hard, I could barely see (to get food & drinks, for the whole family). When I got back, they were talking about taking him off life support, which happened that day...I can still feel exactly the same as I did that horrible day, every time I hear this song...my heart aches, and I cry so hard. It grabs at your soul...💔🌹 Great Reaction.... btw his son died at 4 1/2 years old, by falling out of a window, from a 53rd floor apartment, onto a roof of a 4 story building. It's a very tragic story. You can feel the real heartfelt pain in his song, that everyone who has lost a loved one feels when hearing it.💝✌

He’s known for his guitar work, and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times(two groups, one solo). As he’s gotten older, he’s gravitated away from the driving rock of his youth to more blues-based music. It’s a good rabbit hole choice, if for nothing else to see the evolution of an artist over the decades he’s been performing. Not as necessarily something to react to, but after you’ve listened to some of his earlier music, I suggest setting aside a block of time for ‘Eric immersion’ and listening to the 24 Nights album(I prefer the audio-only version. Yes, the same album has two versions), which is a good mix of rock and blues. He does Old Love and Wonderful Tonight back-to-back... 20 minutes of mmm mmm musical goodness. If you continue with Eric, I’m sure you will get plenty of suggestions for those songs. I usually suggest live versions after hearing the studio. Then listen to the Unplugged album. Come join us in Clapton-land. We think you’ll like it.😁

Written after the death of his son, Connor, it is one of the most beautiful and emotive songs I have ever heard. Burying a child is something no parent should ever have to do. Tears in Heaven" is a ballad written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings about the pain Clapton felt following the death of his four-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a window of the 53rd-floor New York apartment of his mother's friend, on March 20, 1991. A song that will touch the very depths of all who listen to it.🙏

I can understand your tears. There is a Contemporary Christian singer/songwriter named Steven Curtis Chapman. He and his wife had 3 children before adopting 3 precious little girls from China (Not at the same time). They live in Tennessee. One day the girls were outside playing when they saw a truck coming down their long driveway. Little Maria Sue (6 yrs old) ran to meet the truck. The driver didn't see her and accidentally ran over her. This was in 2005. She was airlifted to a children's hospital but died before they got there. The driver of the truck was 17 year old Will Chapman, Maria Sue's brother. He was devastated. They all were. The family surrounded Will with love. I was on my way to work when I heard this on the radio. I had to pull the car over because I couldn't stop crying. Steven said in an interview with Larry King that they found a picture she had been coloring on the kitchen table. It was a picture of flower with 6 petals. On the back, Maria Sue had written the word See. When he turned it back over to look at the picture again, he saw that only one of the petals had been colored. After a minute of looking at it, Steven understood. Holy Spirit showed him that each of the petals represented one of his children. Only one petal was completed because only one (Maria) of his children was complete. Maria Sue was now complete because she is with Jesus. Amen!!!

I was 11 when Clapton's son died. I could still remember the news reports. Even at that age I was shaken by it. It was just heartbreaking. Wings from Marie and 10,000 days (wings for Marie part 2), by Tool are also gut wrenching. They are about the unwavering faith of the singer's mother, after she suffered a stroke, which left her paralyzed and in a wheel chair for 27 years, which is about 10,000 days. They are long songs, but a testament to she was a force, and an inspiration, to not just her son, but the entire band itself. You can hear it in every aspect of the music.
