I love hip-hop played with live instruments, it gives it a new vibe, The Brand New Heavies, Connie Price & The Keystones, El Michels Affair all put out albums like that, when done right it's dope. What can you say about DOOM, you have to be a true hip-hop head to get it, it's abstract, hip-hop's supervillain.

When Doom and his peeps CM Fam were running around Manhattan doing graffiti and what not, BDP’s Criminal Minded was their anthem. Doom made a lot of his beats at MF Grimms pad or Stretch Armstrong’s place sleeping on the couch, some stuff was already part done with his brother Subroc before he past, other stuff he knocked up as he went. All the instrumentals are on the Special Herbs releases - you might dig the Special Blends remix thing Doom did, Nas One Love, Rae & Ghost Criminology, On & On Badu, Off the Books Pun & Beatnuts etc PS he’s from LI

How u saying they better than The Roots is they not Original and nobody knows them 🤷🏽they can’t be considered better if they’ve made no Impact on the HipHop Culture.. Dude u speaking Blasphemy saying a Culture Vultures crew is better the an OG HipHop Band that Earns our Respect 🫡 over decades of Hits

I love OMA but you are straight drinking ridiculous juice ti say they are better than the roots. They are the guys that cover the roots. They are not the Roots. Never put cover bands in the same lane as the originators. That's silly. There are a lot of great cover bands in every genre of music and if you ask then are they better than the bands they cover they will all look at you like you're nuts.
