"I'm a Singer" This is not "The Voice", it's a competition of already known and talented singers.Adding that the organizers keep secret the names of the participants - quite famous singers. The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, still just turned 27 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, (on hold due to covid-19) he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to start his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. Like a guy who was a second, support, to a guy who had been reacting to Dimash a few times once said: "In two hundred years from now, we will find his space ship hidden somewhere." If I still lived by then (if the planet Tellus still exists), I wouldn't been surprised if someone actually found a hidden space ship abandoned, with a Captain's license with Dimash's picture on the dashboard 😉😂!

When I first heard Dimash 5 years ago, I couldn't believe my ears either. I was tempted to look behind my laptop like a little kid to see if there was another singer hiding there.🤣 From that day on, not a day goes by that I don't hear Dimash. This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight. The best comment from a Dear under this video: „If you are having a bad day, remember, someone had to sing after him.“ 🤣 The competition was open in 2013 to well-known professional singers from the music industry worldwide (theoretically). In reality, only 2 or 3 non-Chinese contestants (Koreans) attended the show. Foreign participants have been banned since 2016. In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time (politics). The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish. This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. PLEASE avoid performances off The World’s Best (tv show in the US) Those performances are cut up horribly and Dimash was disrespected in the competition from the judges! Otherwise enjoy Dimash videos! 🙏🏽

Regarding sustaining one note with vibrato in a live performance Dimash sustained that last mixed head and chest note for about 20 seconds which is enviable and I believe he can sustain a mixed high note for 30 seconds. But that palls in insignificance when I about to tell you that the great 60s and 70s vocalist Johnny Mathis sets the WORLD RECORD with FULL VIBRATO for sustaining one note in a live performance circa 1960s. It was captured on film by a Chinese filmographer in a mega rare video. Are you ready? not 20 seconds , not 30 seconds, not 40 seconds, not 50 seconds, not 60 seconds not 70 seconds, not 80 seconds, not 90 seconds but... 98 SECONDS that’s 1:28 seconds. And it was accomplished with FULL CHEST REGISTER VIBRATO!!!! A World record never to be broken in our lifetime. This was a very enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week. At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China. As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang "Unforgettable Day," a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh and in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition. Here is the order of Dimash's performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11. 1. Dimash is in his own lane when it comes to music and vocals. There is no one like him on the planet. This performance was 2017 and you wouldn't think he could get better but he has as he works constantly on improving his skills. He speaks 3 languages and sings in 13. You may want to check out his more recent performances like War and Peace 2021, Stranger, Across Endless Dimensions, and also his official music videos like Be With Me, Golden, Akkuym and Love of Tired Swans.

Dimash was invited to participate on this show. It's usually reserved for only Chinese citizens. This was his first performance and he blew their socks off. They didn't know him until this performance but were asked to give him a very warm welcome. The day after this performance he had to have bodyguards. China loves him! He came in 2nd in this competition only because only Chinese participants can win.

Dimash is always ready with "thank you" for any audience he might sing for. "Che che" is Mandarin, I think, for thank you. He only knew a few Mandarin words back then in 2017. Just enough to travel to this competition, "I Am A Singer". He was the only contestant who wasn't a professional Chinese singer with an established fan base. I think he was the first ever foreigner on the show.

Dimash is considered the greatest singer in the World. He has a massive following. He began his classical vocal and instrument training at age 5 and continued through age 25. He is 22 in this video, and will turn 28 May 24th He is the son of a couple who were entertainers in Kazakhstan, Kanat and Svetlana Aybayet. He is also a male clothing model. At 6'3" he carries suits VERY well. He is athletic, loves his homeland and sings songs about Kazakhstan from time to time. He is so superior now, to this video, though he was fabulous here.

I loved your reaction. It became some sort of hobby of mine to watch people discovering Dimash and every time there is the same thing - astonishment … every time. You’re hooked, that I can tell. Well, you haven’t seen (heard) nothing yet. First a little background: Dimash is from Kazakhstan, many of his songs he writes himself, he is the best vocalist on the planet (and beyond), he sings in 12 languages, plays 8 instruments, trains DAILY since he was 5, he is the most humble and modest guy I’ve ever seen, his vocal range covers 7 octaves. Back in 2017 he sang a D8 - yes, you heard right - that is the note “D” from the 8th octave, which is off the piano keyboard and the highest note ever sung by a human, therefore many his “dears” (this is how he calls his fans) suspect he is an alien. That you will hear when you get to “Unforgettable Day”, but it is IMPORTANT you watch the Gakku concert version. If you’re not “Dimashified” yet, you will be … you will be - that is fine, it happened to all of us. At a concert he can sing one song in italian, then one in kazakh, english, french, russian and chinese and the crowd sing along to all of them. Also his versatility is amazing, not restiricted by styles or genres, his music is just music, often a mix of lots of influences.
