@@827dusty I'd add also Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd into the mix but am unfamiliar with Peter's first album other than the songs that may have appeared on his 'Comes Alive' album which was recorded several tours into his yet to be largely noticed solo career. Moby Grape's debut and and The Band's 'Music From Big Pink' would also rank among rock's great debuts along with that little band from Liverpool who made pretty much this whole business explode, exponentially, nearly overnight!

Every single song on that debut Boston album is a classic. This epic record exploded onto the public after being turned down by every record company that it's creator, Tom Scholz, took it to for over half a decade. Pure spun gold! When I think of Boston, I think of summer.

"More than a Feeling" to me means that an old song not only brings back feelings about the past but memories you forgot about suddenly comes back. It is almost 3 dimensional to the point that you almost forget you are in 2021 and not decades before.

I can't agree more. When I heard that song for the first time (I was 18 in 1976), it sounded like if I already knew it. I wondered if it was an old song that I didn't heard since a long time (An old forgotten song?). Very strange and strong feeling I never forgot.

Boston, more than any other band that debuted in the mid to late 70’s, defined the next generation of rock and roll. They were so different and so talented that they just blew us away. In addition all of the tracks for Let Me Take You Home which was written by Brad were recorded at The Record Plant and the band members as pictured on the back of the record played all of the instrument tracks on that song. Harri, the singer was Brad Delp. He was one of those rare singers who had a seamless transition from one register to another in his voice, and could hit insanely high notes _smoothly._ Kind of like So Hyang does. It is hard to imagine how popular this album was back in 1975. Virtually everyone had a copy, either as an LP, 8-Track or cassette. Sort of like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. It was _everywhere!_

The lead singer's name is Brad delp. I met and talked to him a few times when he was alive and he was a very down to earth humble guy. Brad was a big Beatles fan and was in a Beatles tribute group after Boston broke up. I went to see his Beatles tribute band Beatlejuice and saw him perform live several times. They were very good. Tom Scholz was the musical genius behind the music of Boston and was the guitar player on this song and actually did all the music while Brad did the singing. They had to put a group together to go on tour to do these songs but it was really just Brad and Tom. Two other of my favorite Boston songs are Peace Of Mind and Amanda. You should do reactions to those two songs. By the way I'm originally from the Boston area.

Boston hadn't been in this town, since 1978. "It's Been Such A Long Time", and they were phenomenal. The now late Eddie Money opened for them. I can't say, "I didn't get my money's worth".

Truly underrated when they make those lists of great Rock voices. The whole first album is magical. Ssdly, I believe there were only a couple albums in the course of a decade or so despite the huge success of the first album because of legal disputes. Yet their legacy as one of the great rock bands is still intact.

This Song also reached a whole new generation of Fans thanks to The Movie She's Having A Baby starring Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern before she played Cora on Downton Abbey. It was also featured on The Sopranos at The Countr Club and Tony once again had a Panic Attack.

There is a KZread video of an interview with Tom Scholz (the composer and guitarist of Boston) who was asked if there ever really was a Maryanne that inspired this song. He said yes there was. When he was nine years old, growing up in Ohio, he thought the most beautiful girl in the world was a cousin of his named Maryanne who was about 12 at the time. They lived in different cities and of course, he only saw her when families got together for holidays or other occasions. So there's a kind of innocence and childlike wonder in his reminiscence of that childhood crush.

A classic! One of the greatest guitar riffs in rock history, a heavenly voice and a damn well constructed song (and album btw)

Useta tour, working local crew at nearby Verizon Arena. Boston came in for a week of rehearsal before their final tour. It was a family fest, Brad was the coolest. Couple nights he stayed after everybody left and sang all night to get his chops back. To be a "fly on an i-beam" for that. Thanks for sussing it!

I saw Boston live in Toronto - 1977 (or '78 I think) and they were amazing! Brad Delp's voice was spot on as well as the rest of the band.

Notice how long the guitarist holds the note going into the second chorus and then out of the bridge. My favorite of theirs - “peace of mind” If you want a singer to blow your mind, Queensryche “Take hold of the flame” live in Japan 1982. He hits an E5 twice.
