Brad Delp had one of the BEST voice in Rock. This is from their self titled debut album, in 1976.

AB.... the most amazing thing about "Boston" is that first album was written, performed & produced by basically 1 single person: Donald Thomas Scholz... and "More than a Feeling" was recorded using a $100 Yamaha Guitar. Scholz was MIT trained with a BA & Masters in engineering & was a classical trained pianist. He'd already created many of the songs as demo singles & thought together it would make a great album & tried to get the interest of the record companies. Epic Records finally noticed, but they wanted the songs done in a pro studio. Scholz hired his friend, John Boylan, to keep the company busy while he re-recorded it all in the basement apartment studio he'd built himself. Not only that, but some of the devices used were invented by DTS himself Yes, 4 other people helped out with vocals & playing an instrument here & there on recordings, but the majority of the guitar, bass, and keyboards were done by Scholz.

@Anonymouse Oh, I **DO** know about the infamous custom guitar... BTW, it was a Taylor acoustic. Yes it was used later in live appearances, However, it wasn't actually used for the recording of this song. Delp's guitar was one of Boylan's distractions. While they were creating the big hullabaloo about it, Scholz was back at his studio doing the re-recording of "More than a Feeling" on his inexpensive Yam.

@@sc0repio662 You're 100% right on everything you said. You're the first person I've heard to capture the entire methodology of the song's creation and get the instruments, etc spot on. Thanks for sharing bro. *Hey Kids! Did you know Kurt was noodling around on this song when he came up with "Smells Like Teen Spirit"? Yep...you can definitely hear it in there lol*

Not a lot of people. You explained it very well.
This song still gives me chills. Just as much as when this was a huge radio hit. You could try Foreplay/Long time, Rock and Roll Band or Peace of Mind. For more to explore on your classic rock journey, you need to add Pink Floyd to the mix as another iconic band. One of my faves is Great Gig in the Sky but they have so many. They were also big into concept albums so you really need to listen to the whole album from beginning to end for the whole story. Another Brick in the Walk is another classic tune from Pink Floyd.

I love it when the kids stumble across Boston and get a dose of what we all grew up with. AB, every single cut on this debut album got significant airplay, and a couple of them continued to get "classic rock" FM play for decades. Foreplay/Long Time, Rock and Roll Band, Peace of Mind, Let Me Take You Home Tonight, Smokin'... Can't go wrong.

Fun fact the drummer for Boston rest in peace Sib His daughter is married to the rock Dwayne Johnson
That is Brad Delp at his best. He had a 4 octave range with strength which is hard to come by and this is not auto tuned. This was his voice hitting those high notes.
Fun fact: the UFOs on the album cover are upside down guitars.

I had the privilege of being at a live Boston concert. It was an all day sort of music festival with Boston being the headliner and it was held at the Charlotte Speedway (packed!). This was 1978 and tickets were $20 for seeing 6-8 bands. Awesome memories!
Along with the other Boston songs that have been recommended also add Kansas' Carry On Wayward Son
@lindalamar8686

Definitely Kansas - Carry on Wayward Son. Also for this time Foreigner - Cold as Ice or Jukebox Hero. You mentioned not hearing of girls in rock bands. Try:: Heart - Crazy on you (Anne and Nancy Wilson)or Jefferson Airplane- Somebody to Love (Grace Slick), or even Big Brother and the Holding Company (Janis Joplin) - Piece of My Heart
When I got the notification, first thing that came into my mind is,OOOOO,THE MAN'S IN FOR A TREAT.
RIP Brad Delp, the nicest guy in rock. Ya gave us so much more than a feeling.
They recorded this on there own not in studio. No auto tune! True talent! Try some Rush, it will blow your mind
Lead singer was Brad Delp...awesome voice awesome range! Check out any Boston albums. Sadly, we lost Brad to suicide a few years ago....Boston is still around...but their sound changed dramatically after Brad. Still one of my all time favorite bands.

Their albums would go gold before they were released, just on the pre-orders. Next try the group Chicago.
This is the highest selling album in world history! It sold over a million copies in one month! It has sold over a billion copies to date! It was recorded in the guitar players basement! Talk about knowing what your doing! Dam! Home recording of one of the best productions ever!
Boston IS FIRE!
"More Than A Feeling" by Boston is a classic & iconic "ROCK" Anthem that is "timeless" because it will never get old!!!
That song is fire indeed. That's their first hit single off their first album ever. EVERY song on that album was a radio hit. EVERY SING SONG! Check out: "Foreplay/Longtime", "Piece of Mind", "Smokin", "Don't Look Back"

Saw them in concert at the Sun Dome in Tampa, FL. in 1995. What a crowd! While waiting for the concert to start, we saw a man with greying hair in his' 50's wearing a Tux. His date was a stunning blonde in a light blue floor length evening gown with a tiara, diamond earrings/necklace and white elbow length gloves. 10 feet behind them, in walked a 30's women in a black bustier, leather short shorts, fishnet stockings, thigh-high boots and black leather gloves. In her hand was a silver chained dog leash. This leash was attach to the man she was leading in. He was wearing black combat boots, black leather pants, a black leather vest (no shirt), spiked leather dog collar and a full head black leather mask! I told my friends "This Concert just went to the next level"!! The concert was awesome! I never saw so many panties thrown onto the stage!!
Its more than a feeling when I hear THIS old song play.....
Brad Delos golden voice, no one’s ever been able to mimic him
Brad Delp had such an amazing voice! He was so handsome and his smile!! Oh my!!! I miss him so much. R.I.P.
My 1st concert was Boston at WSU in 1977! They were so flicking amazing and played for almost 3 hours! The college kids couldn't sleep that night cuz we were in the streets partying! Amazing RIP BRAD ❤
You've hit the awesome old school rock bands and you've dove head first into country so it's time to combine the two AB!!!! Lynyrd Skynyrd and their song Free Bird.
That there is quintessential 70's rock! I was 14 when this song was released in 1976. 70's music is hard to beat.
✌❤🤘 Boston IS More Than A Feeling. Love them. They have a groove we could dance to and other things too. It was the 70s after all.
welcome to the rabbit hole.... best album debut ever in my opinion. RIP Brad Delp(lead singer) saw them in 1978 and 2001, both times in Toronto. my fav.....

Just discovered your channel. And you certainly brought a smile to my face. This is the music of my youth and now I know it will be around forever thanks to people like you keeping it alive.
A classic. Back in the early '80s I'd put this album on my stereo rack system. Anybody of a certain age knows what I'm talking about; a cabinet with a tuner, dual cassette deck and a turntable stacked up and a pair of at least three foot high speakers. Anyway, my then three year old son would sit with me on the floor all excited and ask "You gonna rock the house out daddy"? Time flies, he just turned 40 yesterday.
Stellar concerts. Late 70s corporate rock, like Journey. Last time I saw them was the early 2000s. Best show concert. When the lights go down and that space ship on the album cover lowers from the arena ceiling, you know it’s gonna be a kick ass show. Sad that Brad and Sib are gone now. That first album, every song is a hit. They have harder songs.
Best selling debut album in history! I was a tad young but all my friend's older brothers owned this record!
Great reaction as always! Foreplay/Longtime Amanda Don't Look Back After that maybe a little REO Speedwagon! I Can't Fight This Feeling Time For Me To Fly Keep On Loving You

Boston.....sooo good! Their music always takes me back to the 70s. Another band named after a city is CHICAGO. Their song Beginnings would be a good place to start.
Peace of Mind by Boston. You get in your car, roll windows all down, hit the gas and care about Nothing.
Ahhh yes.... the album in search of a band!!!
When I was in high school in the mid-70s, Boston's debut album came out and this was the first track on it. Thanks to Tom Scholz and the Rockman amp he invented (he went to MIT), along with the amazing vocals of Brad Delp and Barry Goudreau, they had a sound that was so different from anything that was out there at the time and were one of those bands that almost everyone seemed to like.
Love this, I was in High School, central california, canal banks, lakes and Debbi.....beautiful

Good morning, just a couple of things to mention, I am really glad that you have found Boston. They are a solid group who provided many great ones in the 70's. If you take a look at the cover of their albu you'll see all of the "space ships". If you turn the cover upside down you'll notice that all of the space ships are guitars. Lol. Also I know that you are a "Home Fry" , as I am. Just for your information this Friday December 10, Home Free will be in KC Mo. If you get the chance try and check them out live. My wife and I will be at their concert on Saturday in Tulsa. Have a great day and keep up the great reactions, I'm enjoying watching a young man expanding his horizons.

You definitely need to listen to Forplay/Long Time. Loved your reaction.
This first Boston album from 1976 sold 17 million copies in the US to date... a classic arena rock album. Boston was the brainchild of guitarist Tom Scholz who wrote the first album in his basement 😂 Brad Delp joined as lead singer... Sib Hashian on drums. In 1976, the debut Boston album was a huge success... 2nd album "Don't look back" in 1978 sold over 4 million copies, but Scholz felt it was 'rushed'... a 3rd album didnt arrive until 1986 - '3rd stage' sold 3 million copies... Unfortunately, it was the last Boston record w/ Brad Delp on vocals. Scholz put together a new Boston in 1993 for 4th album 'Walk on'... he kept Boston touring and recording after long intervals. Sadly, original singer Brad Delp took his own life in 2007... original drummer Sib Hashian also passed away.
"Cool The Engines" was my favorite driving around in my 69 GTO during my high school years... got into some trouble a few times because of this song... 🤣
