Thank you for returning to Angelina. Your reactions to her performances are always worth watching. The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

Tiny Little Girl Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice will be 17 on Jan. 10, 23 and is now 6'1" tall and could be a super model, but I hope the major portion of her career will be dedicated to her music and taking the world to a better place. I don't think she even realizes this power she holds over us and the need to hear that signature voice to fill that empty void within all of us. Angelina Jordan is in fact the "Benchmark" for all other vocalist to try as they might to achieve.

This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Si ster Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on YOUTube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday’ and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. ♥👣👸🏻

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

Absolutely what I expected. She made this her own song and she did it beautifully. I noticed Juliet sitting there she is going to be as beautiful as Angelina one day. Elvis' version is great, and it still is one of my favorites. but Angelina's version is equally great and is definitely her own. When I first heard this song I loved it and put it at #3 on my playlist (Angelina Jordan Playlist by Terry M.), about midday I moved it up to #1. The main thing that changed my mind was the power in her voice. I'm not talking about loudness I'm talking about the power she has regardless of how loud or soft she sings. This is a quality that I haven't heard from anyone in my 82 years. This voice has become so unique that it is totally unmatched. Her phrasing in the last bridge is great. And she got Elvis’s ‘Oh Yea’ at the end of the song. The pianist is Rob Christie (3 Grammys), he is the head of the Republic Record department that is responsible for Angelina and other singers. The two small kids are her uncle Mike's kids, and the older girl is Angelina's sister. It's a jazz standard sung by nearly everyone in the last 50 years (600 different artists on over 1,300 albums). It's called, My Funny Valentine & her 16 yo version is the best I've ever heard, EVER, by anyone, male or female & it's not even close, IMO. In "My Funny Valentine" she proved that she is the best singer out there today. In "Bohemian Rhapsody" she proved to be one of the best musical arrangers, condensing the epic song into half the original tempo without losing anything. In "Million Miles" she demonstrated great writing skills. Add the natural charisma accompanied by remarkable beauty, empathy for others, ultra-intelligence (another gift of mother nature) and we have the best musical artist of the third millennium.

Yes this is a tribute to Elvis for sure. But I feel that Angelina tells the story from Priscilla’s side. She is thougtfull and even sad. Elvis sings it upbeat and when he performes it he laughs and flirts with the women in the audience. Just the opposite from Angelina. And knowing how their marriage ended ..,
