In my (totally amateur) opinion, their voices have matured, in the most beautiful way. Two of their recent releases show this. Listen to their new rendition of O Holy Night from this past Christmas and their cover of Kiss From a Rose (the live VEVO video, please). I hear it most in Kirstie and Scott, but I would love to know if you hear it too. Loved your reaction and analysis, thanks! Peace …

The interesting part is that Kevin plays the cello while beatboxing at the same time

Thanks for this in-depth reaction to PTX's wonderful rendition of Shallow. The colouring of the video itself is partly due to the official posters for the original movie. They were in black and white with gold touches. I'm not sure if the posters also used a vintage 1920's art deco look as well, but it works wonderfully here. It's a very classy, classical look and along with the hints of gold, it's lovely without being ostentatious. As always, PTX manages to arrange their pieces with underlying harmonies that fill the place that instruments normally would in a song. I love Mitch's parts in this where he fills in for the rousing orchestral parts. PTX is very clever that way. Kirstie shone in this song. her looks, her lovely vocals and her fantastic belting just made the song! Some suggestions for more PTX pieces: Be My Eyes, Come Along, Run To You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Daft Punk medley, 90's dance Medley.

Excellent reaction. Subscribed for more PTX. If they use an instrument, like a cello, you see it in the video. They are mostly a cappella. You might like their cover of The Prayer, O Holy Night, Perfect, Imagine, Sound of Silence, Amazing Grace, Say Something, Papaoutai, Kiss From A Rose, New Rules x Are You That Somebody, Can’t Hold Us, and originals Sing, Thank You, Happy Now, and Run To You. Enjoy! ❤❤❤❤❤

I really enjoy the analyses you make of the artist's interpretation, Paolo! I believe that this was the only time Scott and Kirstie have sung to each other, but your observation of how we were drawn in to the scene when Kirstie changed from looking at Scott to us, the viewer. Again, I suspect your professional background gives you insights that most of us don't possess. A video they made during the pandemic crisis was "Mad World". I'd like to hear what you think of their interpretation, both musically and visually, compared to the OG from Tears for Fears. kzread.info/dash/bejne/f5hszaN9etqzgZM.html

Enjoyed your analysis of this masterpiece! Pentatonix always makes very deliberate choices in how they do their arrangements and videos. One more small detail is a very brief riff from Lady Gaga's Bad Romance song, as an homage to her since she sang the original in the A Star is Born movie. You can hear it at 9:05 in your video. As mentioned below, the coloring is a nod to the coloring on the posters for the movie/cover for the soundtrack. There is some behind the scenes for the shooting of this video in one of the PTXperience videos: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJ1r0LeSc6e9g8o.html. (The first half of this video is behind the scenes from the "Waving Through A Window" video, the second half is for Shallow.)

One other point about the color scheme of the video: it also reflects the color scheme used in the advertising posters for the movie, which were all completely black-and-white except for the text of the title, A Star Is Born, which was in gold lettering.
