I'm not sure why you think she, or any other person, can change the world simply basing that on the fact of her fame. That is so superficial! Leave the singing to the singers, the acting to the actors and the world to We The People. Get up and change the world yourself, you don't need a young artist to lead you.

I have teared up many times listening to this cover by Angelina. Some people say “how could a girl so young sing with such feelings” and then chalk it up to reincarnation. Maybe there’s some truth to that, but there are some lines in that song that sound like the feelings of a tiny baby for its mother: “Don’t walk away from me. I have nothing if I don’t have you.” Is there a more overwhelming emotional experience than that? If you’ve ever been really heartbroken, you know that no matter how old you are, you can still feel those infant emotions.

In the years that I have been following Angelina, I have seen two different thoughts on how old she was when this was recorded. One side says she was still 12 when it was recorded, and others say she had just turned 13, as the video was posted in early March. I myself have never seen anything definitive either way, but I think it would be safe to say it was done within a month either way, of her 13th birthday. Gary, I am equally miffed with trying to know just how tall she really is. One account was that you could guess by where her hips reached while leaning against a counter top. The last "definitive" response offered was 5'9" the first was 6'2". Go figure. 😕

I have a photo of her standing next to Avril Lavigne (who is said to be 5'1") and David Foster (who is said to be 5'11") and at 13 Angelina appears to be an inch or so taller than Foster and more than a head taller than Avril, yet like you, I hear she is anywhere between 5'11" and 6'. I read a comment that said she was nearly 6' 4" but got ridiculed for mentioning it. 🤷‍♂

She was actually 14 when the finals of AGT aired, and I read it started taping in Oct the previous year. 🤷‍♂ Again, I have nothing solid to back anything.

There is something about every cover AJ does, they always sound much better than you have ever experienced them in the past. It is more than remarkable; it is astonishing how she affects one's innermost being by drawing you in and holding you as you anticipate each heartwarming phrase.

I believe that in July she will no longer be required to go to school by law. After that anything may happen, and since she's already signed to Republic it definitely will! We all need to fasten our seat belts and get ready.

Whitney was 29 when she recorded this with a full studio production and it took her over 20 takes to get it where she wanted ! The Barefoot Princess recorded this around her 13th birthday whether before or after her birthday is up for debate. However the video was not posted until 2 months after her 13th birthday and what is truly amazing is that Angelina did this with nothing but a backing track IN JUST ONE TAKE!! One of the VP's at Republic Records ( where AJ is signed ) said that were only 3 artists that he had ever worked with that could record a song in one take - Beyonce , Sam Smith and Angelina !! Pretty good company to be in !!

Thanks for the info. It was obvious that WH took a while to finish her version (I assumed it took weeks). It sounds as if you read the amount of takes, which is good to know. It would also be nice to hear how many takes for AJ to finish her studio version at sixteen, which for me is better than Whitney's. My guess it was done in one day with only two or three takes. And yeah, at 16 years old!!!

Don’t be misled by when it was uploaded! Angelina was still 12 when she recorded this❗️ Whitney was 29, 2 takes. WH 23 takes (quite normal) and all the bells and whistles of a major studio. Angelina is at home. 🌺

probably the earliest video of Angelina singing in studio is when she was 6 years old. she went into a studio and did a recording/first run through of the song "I Who Have Nothing", not the Whitney Houston song, "I Have Nothing". check it out and watch till the end when she is talking with the producer. turn on your closed caption after she stops singing.

What a tribute

It's been said that AJ performed this in response to those who said she could not belt or hit the high notes. She pretty much showed she can do whatever any song reguires. Some voice analysts point to minor flaws but miss that at 13 she sang parts of the song WH often did not sing live but mostly in studio recordings with all the magic that allows.

This was a one-take "karaoke" performance, and whether she was not-yet-13 or just-turned-13 is irrelevant. Apparently she did all the bells and whistles that WH allegedly only did in the studio. I am not qualified to judge either way, I just sit back and enjoy...

Her youth can be heard with her slightly strained highs at 12. However, by sixteen, both with her studio version and her in person performance, she actually sounds better than Whitney in singing this song. If she decides to sing professionally, she will be the greatest singer of all time, bar none. Are there others with better voices? Of course. Most opera persons are just one example, but they don't interpret the songs, which is what Angelina does better than the best.

I'm familiar with all, but what Webb Pierce song you might be referencing. I don't recall hearing any of his hits being sung by AJ.

She did this song this summer at a classic Norwegian outdoor concert, now a full-blown 16-and-a-half-year old, but she was holding a microphone. The hand gestures she unconsciously employs in this clip to emphasize the emotion of the song were simply not available - it was a much more subdued version, but no less impressive. Also, she is just beginning to grow into her pre-teen growth spurt in this clip. Her hands (and likely her feet as well) are enormous compared to the rest of her but, unlike most pre-teens, she does not seem awkward at all, manipulating these temporarily-outsized limbs. They just obey her, adding to the emotions she pours into the song. Furthermore, she did this in one karaoke-style take, doing things WH normally did not do outside the magic of a studio setting.

Good or bad or not, Angelina seems to have far more versatility than any other singer in the history of the world. Personally, I think her covers are better than the originals in most of her latest clips, but I am hoping that she settles on her own style, which I think is needed to move her up to the super diva status.
