This is a masterpiece. Not many songs earn masterpiece status but this one surely does. It's perfection from top to bottom. Every instrument played flawlessly, the singer is on point and every person on the planet can connect personally with the lyrics/meaning of the song.
I was born July 4 1973, was an only son, my mom passed away July 15 1974. I have lived my life by this song like they wrote this from her to me, even though I don't remember her or her voice I picture her saying this to me through them. Seen Shinedown do it live 7 times and I broke down in tears every time.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Songs that contains words of wisdom, advice, truth, joy and pain. Once in a millennia kind of band.
The plane crash that took the lives of several band members, including lead singer and lyricist Ronnie Van Zant shocked the music world.

First time I’m checking your channel out. I really appreciate this. I can not even sing along with this song without breaking down and it’s my favorite song by LS. It was played at my older cousins funeral. One of the most genuine, caring people you would ever meet, died at 23. I watched his daddy stand over his casket, shirt soaking wet from tears, looking at his only son. His dad told him the same thing but he lived a little too fast. I was a 17 year old kid then. I’m 40 now and have taken this song to heart. I live for my family. I enjoy every moment with them. Tell your people that you love them everyday.

Lynyrd Skynyrd comes from the blue collar southern working class of Jacksonville, Florida. They are one of the greatest gems produced from the South.

As the parent of sons, this song always moves me to tears. This is how I want my kids to live.
I grew up with this song. Had my first child (a son) when I was 17. I used to sing this song to him all the time. He will be 40 this year and we still have a special bond over this song.
When you do "free bird" it must be the LIVE VERSION... it's very symbolic being most band members died in a bird just a couple months after the live performance

Gary Rossington was a riff master. He had so many iconic riffs.
This band is legendary. They offered purity within their pieces & performances. Their live version of Free Bird will allow for you to see them in person. Keep enjoying.
I was a teenager verging on adulthood when this song came out, and this song helped me through some complicated life changes......major changes happening in the world all around and at the end of the day this song helped me realize I could handle it!
This band is the best, simply put.

WOW, slow down, let's not forget about the likes of LED ZEPPELIN, QUEEN, PINK FLOYD ,BOSTON, the ROLLING STONES, THE ALLMAN BROTHERS, but i would say they're the best southern rock band, well between them & THE ALLMAN BROTHERS.

@@Tuesdays_Gone hey brother just giving you a hard time, Skynyrd, is in my top 5 all time and I have "on the hunt" on my play list so I hear them at least once a day." you wanna ride in my big black car baby, you want go uptown " hey did you lose it when Sebs said he never heard of them or even said their name before, get the fu*k out of here. hey thanks for responding, have a great day.
Luckily I got to see them live ,yea I'm old
My 1st son's ring tone when I call him. He was a fussy baby, so I would sing this to him. Yrs later, he was in the garage and I walked out it was on the radio and he was singing, stopping dead in my tracks, and I watched.🥺 When he saw me, he smiled. 😊💗
I grew up with this band. This was one of the best written lyrics out there. Funny thing, this is more true today than when it was first released! Simple IS better. Hear me.
Powerful, powerful classic we ever listen in music
One of my 10 all time favorite songs.
Phenomenal Band. Southern Rock at its best. Many great songs ! Like an upbeat daddy “ Call Me the Breeze” Free Bird is the epic rock anthem with so many guitar riffs starts as a Ballad and erupts into a a Masterpiece. I’m 73 and the music in the 60’s - 70’s were so varied and Classic. Give CCR a try. Born on the Bayou, You put a Spell on Me, Heard it Thruogh the Grapevine…they had 7 #1 hits in 2 years.
One of the best songs ever written and sung by Skynard. Pretty great!
This became my favorite song after my mom passed. Lyrics are very on point. You should also do “Call Me The Breeze” by them. Such a great song!!
Such a great song, I remember hearing it on the radio at work in the early 2000's and actually listening to the lyrics. I had heard it a number of times, but when I actually listened to the words it hit so much deeper.
I don't mean to correct You but the first line is My Momma Told Me. Not the Father. They were the Best Southern Rock Band in the Day. They can never be replaced.
Wow, this deserves a lot more views. A great, great, song, and a great band.
Have to check out "freebird" live in Oakland in 1977. One of the best live band performances ever!!!

The Knebworth show earlier in the tour was awesome also. Alan,Steve and I believe Gary were out on the tounge, for The Stones set,and Ronnie eventually came out and reeled them in. They were told to not go out on the tounge.
Skynyrd are southern rock legends. 💯
My All time favorite band ever. I try to make a point about a song and I believe a true song isn't just written.. it has to be lived and then wrote .
That is something we never listened to around the house. Cool to see you open up to other music dude!
Other songs by them you should check out: 1.) Free Bird (you’ve heard it, even if the name doesn’t ring a bell). 2.) That Smell (good story behind the song, also a bit underrated compared to other hits by them) 3.) The Ballad of Curtis Loew 4.) Tuesday’s Gone 5.) The Needle and The Spoon 6.) Gimme Three Steps

I recently discovered you and have been going through your video reactions. This song happens to be one of my favorite. I think that all parents should sit down with their children at some point and listen to the song with him. Absolutely love it.
This was such a great band. I'm so happy I got to see them before the plane crash that killed Ronnie Van Zant and some of the band. I just visited their memorial in Magnolia, Mississippi, a few months ago. It's amazing!!!
It's cool to hear you say that about your Dad as I tried to impart this to my son as a single parent. Some of it seems to have worked as he is one of the best humans I've had the pleasure to know.
I knew this song would resonate with you Sebs. This seems like the exact kind of message you would give to your children.
Their high school gym teacher in Jacksonville Florida 9:23 , Leonard Skinner, was a big support of the band. Band named after him.
I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert as a teenager, love them! Such memories! If you liked this, you need to check out Freebird!
Thanks sebs, if your sick and tired of simple man or brand new to it with your reaction now its great getting your take on whatever is truly interesting to you, keep being awesome
This was advice from a mother to her only son. As a mother to only one son I would tell him these woods from his birth! He has grown to a wonderful man meet an amazing woman and I danced with him at his wedding to this song! They have been married 8yrs and have 2 amazing kids and he has became this simple amazing man husband and father has made me proud
The band was named for their gym teacher his name was Leonard skinner and he didn't like all their long hair and tried to expell Gary for it but he wasn't about to cut his hair
Like I told my son: Be a good Dad. Job #1 Everything else is secondary.

Welcome to Southern Rock!!! They are soooooo good! I dedicated this song to my first son before I was even pregnant. Last year, at the age of 42, he got married. I walked him down the isle. He asked his step dad to be his best man and, he and I danced together to this song at his reception! I told him he found a good woman and found love. And, that I was so proud of him for being a simple man!! Thank you for reacting to this super special song!
My son is 24 and I started singing this to him since the day he was born.
Love your thoughtful reactions.
Great song and delivery. I find it quite emotional, that’s what great music does.😊
OMG, another badass reaction coming right up 4 ya 😎💯🔥
The opening riff is my ringtone.😊✌️
Like your shirt bro. I live in waco. Enjoying your country music reaction videos! Keep up the good work. 👍
I've been singing this to my boy since the day we brought him home .. no matter where that 30 yr old kid is the minute he hears this playing , I get a text or a phone call that says "you ok? Luvya" I watched a few of your videos ... this one has to be my favorite reactions of yours, made me smile.
The word is nostalgia, and that’s why I love this style of music so much. Try Bob Seger, talk about a voice that is so easy to listen too and gives those same feelings and more

Boy does that take me back. Your reaction was a year ago so you won't see this but I'm glad you reviewed this one. And consider the gap between the generations then; it was huge. For this band to put this out as a wise parent advising their child. Mind blowing really.
I absolutely love this song and always have. I introduced my son❤to this song a few years before he passed away at 22, may he rest at peace. He appreciated good bands with a good message that flows right through the soul.
This was my son/mother song 5 years ago today!! Happy anniversary to my son and daughter in law
They are such a great band and so legendary that you could literally fall into a rabbit hole with their catalog. I highly highly recommend it.
Whole album 🔥 saw them live before plane crash at Oakland Coliseum, but bought album and cassette tape when it 1st came out❤ my favorite simple man, Tuesday gone with the wind.. my son was about 3 he could sing gimme me three steps🤣😂❤
New here, crying over the Country songs and this being one of my favorite of all time. Lost my Mom a few months ago and music is my therapy....
One of my fav songs.
The best of country rock!
Fire reaction man 🔥
They don’t make music like this anymore This is one of the best bands that has ever played music How many bands do you know that every song they ever sang was a good song. I don’t know of another band that anyone can say this about To me this is the best rock band that has ever played music You can make a list of songs from this band and close your eyes and put your finger on one and you will be able to relate to it in some way The more you listen to this band the more you will want to hear My favorite band of any rock band
Dude you always make me smile
I used to sing this to my son and daughter like a lullaby. Im 60. They still chase worldly goods. But at least there good adults. But they do lust after money still. Jeez. Love your reaction.
New subscriber here just enjoy how you feel the music. I've watched you do 3 reactions and loved them all. Jackson brown was my fav.
Gotta do Curtis Loew! ♥️🎶 Glorious Southern Rock!! Also, Sweet Home Alabama, Tuesday’s Gone, and if you want a riff! - try Free Bird!! 🦅 R.I.P. Ronnie, Steve, Cassie, and others. 💔
The lead singer wrote all the lyrics on the spot while they were working up the music and he was a perfectionist. They would work in a hot 10 bucks in Florida with no air-conditioning for 12 or 14 hours a day to perfect each song.
My Mother told me when I was young is how the song started out. It is Mother's heart felt desire for her Son.
This is gonna b a damn good & badass reaction 💯🔥😎 this song always hits deep , 1 of the greatest thing's about music is that music can not see in color... music see's 👁👁 in simple shades of black, white & Grey's... music is about how it hits ya, makes u feel, music is designed 2 take u on a positive, wonderful, worthy, leanful & exiting journey...
I need to see Freebird at Oakland, California live
Your videos only post the past 3 months. I totally missed! Southern Rock as its perfection! Wish I could see all your reactions.
My son and I are both Lynyrd Skynyrd fans, this is our song.
I remember when this song came out! Had it on 8 track. These guys were gone why too soon! Allman Brothers and Stevie Ray Vaughan were amazing too
They were my first concert way back in 1977 3 months before the plane crash
My favorite southern rock song, right behind Freebird
As a guitar player listen to The Breeze. Love playing it
Ballad of Curtis Lowe, Freebird, S.H.A., Gimme three steps, Tuesdays gone, all need to be heard.
This was our Mother/Son dance song at my oldest son’s wedding reception. Mic drop moment. ❤
Southern Rock! Been so long since I’ve heard them!
band of legend my favs
Catch one of their live performances with Ronnie singing on KZread and you will see their power. There is a great concert in Oakland out there but many others.
Love Lynyrd Skynyrd
Nostalgic. One of the best songs ever written. JMO.
I think you'll love their song Tuesday's Gone......guitar is great & lyrically it's STRONG too.
No more Original members left, Ronnie's Brother Johnny is Lead Singer now. Of course, Rickey Medlocke, who was with Blackfoot, is playing Guitar.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is a legendary band and I won't say anyone does this song better than them but....a band called Shinedown does a cover that is definitely worth a listen. Their guitarist is a sin or grandson of one of the Lynyrd Skynyrd band members I believe. Anyway, definitely worth a listen.
@brettneely9019

Okay, the Shinedown guitarist is married to Ronnie Van Zants daughter according to google
Once again Lord, thank you for allowing me to be a teenager in the 80s.... Sadly those who weren't there will never know what they missed.
One suggestion always react to the live versions if possible as Skynyrd was as much a visually entertaining band and the least of their live performances are 10x better than their best studio versions!! Freebird - Okland 1977 is their most Iconic song/performance out of many iconic songs!!
Great song that unintentionally shows us why our world is crumbling. This advice in the song does not come from a father, but instead is a mother because fathers were already disappearing from the equation.
There all gone now. This is my favorite song. Lost my mother April 25 2022. Played at her grave sight. I play it when I’m missing her. I’m 60 years old. Raise 15 kids, two where mine.
Sweet home Alabama another great song
My favorite Skynyrd song!
7364 Easley Rd Magnolia Mississippi is the sight of the Memorial if anyone wants to visit it. It's near the crash site and it's eerily quiet when I visited it
I believe the story goes. Gary rossington wrote parts based lessons his grandma taught him. I believe they were one of the first to have 3 lead guitar players at one time. Allen collins Gary rossington, and Steve Gaines. The band originated from Jacksonville Florida. The name came from their gym teacher Leonard skinner. Who use to get on to the guys for having long hair
One of the best songs ever made
Extraordinary song
I cry every time I hear this song, my husband sings this song and can play on his guitar and I just cry my eyes out. Most beautiful song along with freebird
Live version of this is the best
