This takes me back to my childhood in Alabama and the church revival meetings with gospel singers . So much of American music of the 50's ,60's , and 70's had its roots in those Southern churches . Alison Krauss is one such singer. She has a beautiful , almost ethereal voice and her roots are Appalachia .

The best Alison Krauss is the early bluegrass with her band Union Station. "Every Time You Say Goodbye." "Another Night." "New Fool." She also did a gospel bluegrass album with The Cox Family, with my favorite cuts being the traditional "Will There Be Any Stars In My Crown" and "Far Side Bank of Jordan."

I haven't heard that much of Alison Krauss but I was quite infatuated with Crystal Gayle starting in 1977 when I heard Don't Make My Brown Eyes Blue on the radio. That was her first crossover hit, and I loved her warm sultry voice, sight unseen, when I saw what she looked like, that was it. I saw her perform in 1978 and talked to her after the concert. In concert she sounded exactly like on her recordings. You may have heard Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue--if not you should check it out, but here's a performance from our hit she had the year before live on German TV in 1976 when she was about 26. Although she had other crossover hits later on some think this was her best song, which was a country hit--You Never Miss a Real Good Thing (Till He Says Goodbye). This is a good quality audio and video from German TV in 1976 over her performing that song. Aside from her natural talent and beautiful voice, she's also incredibly beautiful. I think her hair was longer prior to this and she grew longer after this, down to her ankles at times. She is country legend Loretta Lynn's youngest sister. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iWZkttaDfrTYj7w.html

Oh my darlin, you have listen to Alison's song Lucky One. Her voice is super angelic, and watching you sway and get into the music was so heartwarming for me to see. Thank you for reacting to this artist. I pray you do listen to her other song Lucky One and it's just as moving for you.

You might want to check out "I'm a man Of Constant Sorrow" It comes off the same sound track album from the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" Song was recorded by Dan Tyminksi. Although in the movie George Clooney along with George Nelson and John Turtorro lip synced it under the fictional band name "The Soggy Bottom Boys" (a play on words of the 1940's Bluegrass Foggy Mountain Boys ?)
