"Pierrot" comes from French, so the "t" is actually silent. "PEE-eh-ro." And it's actually a word with some rather interesting history! It was originally the name of a stock character in the "Comédie-Italienne" tradition, pantomime and theatre of Italian origin that was performed in Paris starting from the late 17th century. Pierrot was generally a bit of a bumbling everyman who served as a foil to romantic heroes like Harlequin (the specific type of clown which inspired Harley Quinn). Basically, Pierrot was the OG "sad clown" character, and even though most people don't know about Comédie-Italienne these days, you can still find its influences in even modern pop culture if you know where to look. It's not even subtle sometimes - one of David Bowie's many, many stage personas was based off of Pierrot. I've seen the word "pierrot" used in a few different Japanese songs/anime series, sometimes simply as a generic term for a western-style clown, but sometimes invoking the more specific "sad clown" idea. There's a popular Hatsune Miku song called "Karakuri Pierrot" about a girl who's been strung along and made a fool of by someone she's in love with ("karakuri" referencing a particular type of Japanese clockwork puppet, so the song is sometimes translated as "Clockwork Clown" or "Puppet Pierrot.") Also, "Yoru" literally just means "night" so the title of this song could be translated as "The Night's Sad Clown." Feels very appropriate for a happy instrumental matched with such sorrowful lyrics!

song "FREEDOM" is very good

Another great reaction! The title means "Night Clown" which matches perfectly with the impression you got from the song. I think songs with dancing vives and depressing lyrics are common in Japan because it's relatable to anyone's life: you put on a happy-face mask everyday, just as you said. And yet songs like this allow you to keep your mask on while sympathising with the lyrics in presence of other people around you.

I think the contradiction is supposed to be like a pick me up, like someone giving you a hug to cheer you up. The lyrics let you know someone understands what you're going through, but the beat tries to cheer you up and move on and look to the future. You still have a bunch of Ado left! Highly recommend Asura-chan abd her cover Kazarijyanainoyonamidawa!

The Karaoke is too fun, you should definitely check it out. I would recommend doing it on twitch though so you can pause through and people just help you understand what is being said as that is key to enjoying it in my opinion. Chat could help you understand that.

This song was the 5th song released after her major debut. It's the next song after Odo, so it may sound plain, but it's one of my favorite songs.

Really hope you will react to Aitakute, piano and strings version at some point as well. I dont even know the lyrics and I wanna cry every time i hear the song. Ado truly has a masterful voice

Okay, the song's music introduces us to the fun side of a night out clubbing whereas the lyrics identify the sad reality that may be its other side. However, consider the third aspect to the song, that both are the same thing happening. Non-Europeans may be able to see both sides together and both sides together for what they are without having to moralize and change that it is what it is.

And then maybe support each other, or at least bear with the other, as we live our different lives. It may just be our innocence that we're loosing down that road.
