Its not starting because of too much oil. The premix seemed way to thick and now u have the oil pump working aswell. Only reason it fired up the first time is because u probably had clear gas in the lines.

Highly recommend throwing some new spark plugs in the old girl, just cause they have a have a spark out of the engine doesn't mean they won't be fouled under pressure. Since you have another engine that mostly likely has the same plugs it'd be easy to swap them over and rule it out, Just my two cents.

I agree replacing the plugs would be the best bet but with the amount of premix he put in the gas it may have been as easy as taking all the plugs out and wiping them off with a rag and putting them back in. Sometimes when there wet like that they just won’t fire, making sure there dry and putting them back in is all it takes sometimes.

I actually think the issue it the gas oil mixture, It seemed more like 1: 10 than 1: 40, I would recomend taking the sparkplug out and try to light the litle of gasoline on the tip on fire, it should imidiatelly burn of if the mixture is right. (I think is that because of the amount of smoke that came out on the first start) Let me know what you think?

@@Jarda_B i gotta agree, think the fuel was too oil heavy. super sick build though Chris, you make some cool stuff.
Just pull the teflon tape apart when done. This also tightens it up before install. You dont need scissors. And you need a throttle back there or someone to hold throttle open when its flooded like that. Being alone is making it harder. A few pulls with someone holding it at wide open throttle will clear it out and it should start. Its a two stroke so they dont like being flooded. It needs AIR! All that extra oil isn't helping either, You gotta trust the factory or disconnect and run pre-mix. Not both. Thats why it smoked you out. Try fresh plugs too. It's looking awesome and can't wait for the first drive!

at 32:00 I think you've got too much 2 stroke oil. The premix was already way too strong, added to which once the oil pump system was bled, you had that oil added to the mix. I suspect the wet plugs were mostly oil, with smell of petrol. Remember, with 2 strokes, the more oil you add to fuel, the weaker the mixture will be. Suspicion further reinforced by the excessive amount of smoke upon startup. 2 strokes shouldn't smoke that much

My man! The extra water temp sensor piece you made is never wasted. It’s very useful in testing the cooling capacity of your radiator. You can see the temp coming in to the radiator (engine out) and then the temp coming out (to engine). And secondly. You have a working oiling system and that premix you made up was the equivalent of mixing 10 packs of Kool-Aide in a shot glass of water. It needs to slightly tint the gas blue, not make it pitch black. That 1 bottle of oil makes 40 gallons of fuel.
This is what happens when nice play with matches and maybe he was just enjoying a smoke even the wires went up in flames 😂

My old rule for premixed gas is it looks like tea or coffee .. hey Chris nothing like a pull start engine 😂
Bro, there is a reason we use overflow tanks. As the coolant heats up the volume increases. When that happens in a closed system with no overflow the pressure must increase to compensate. That added pressure will cause overheating. You know not to weld on a tire that is holding air because the heat will make the tire explode, this is the same concept, but at a lower pressure. It probably won't explode, but it will run hotter.

@kevinsellsit5584

As the coolant heats up the volume increases. When that happens in a closed system with no overflow the pressure must increase to compensate. True That added pressure will cause overheating. False Adding pressure to the system is a good thing because it raises the boiling point of the coolant. Technically an engine can easily operate at temperatures well above the boiling point of water alone because both pressure and antifreeze raise that boiling point. Using the correct radiator cap for the system should allow excess pressure to be bled off *ONLY AFTER* the engine is shut off. This is called heat soak and since the coolant is no longer being pumped through the system and radiator the vapor pressure around the cylinders will cause pressure to rise above that of the pressure cap and coolant will enter the overflow. On a sealed system as the engine cools it will draw the coolant back into the engine. If you are releasing pressure with the engine running, pump turning, fans on, t-stat working, etc. you either have a mechanical problem like a head gasket or timing issue or you need to remove more heat with your radiator.

I’d try new gas or starting fluid. I also really like the comment about it running too oil rich. Had that problem on a dirt bike once. Good luck hope you get it figured out. The build is looking great!!!!!
40 to 1 you say. Proly more like 10 to 1 + the oil from the oil pump. On top of old gas as well.
Check your fuel oil ratio.It's way out that will help it start
Great progress mate, one observation is that you are using a radiator with no expansion tank area at the top so you will need a seperate expansion tank somewhere higher than the rad so you can have an air space for the coolant to expand into.
The little plastic on the tach screen makes me wanna cry that its not pulled off LOLOL
The exhaust is not restricted for the jetting. Take that muffler off and mount the original exhaust on it that you said was heavy and it should run good.
Just want to point out, you do nice, fab lathe work. Custom.
Stump brake bleed, nice! Rig is coming along can't wait to see it out in the wild.
Front Wheel Axels turned down while rotating wheel, then loosened 1/4 turn and greased with high temp grease... But make sure not to get any on rotor and wipe excess away with rag saturated with break clean.. I enjoy the project. Didn't noticed the Fuel Filter
I take spark plugs off, blow compressed air in every cylinder while pull starting it, and then I try to start it while WOT. Works on every flooded 2 stroke.
A burnout e-brake 🤔. I LOVE IT 😂
I'm totally getting a mad max vibe from this build. It's awesome
It'll be worth the wait, as all your projects have just been amazing.
13:45 Why you didn't weld an aluminum curve to the radiator pointing downwards instead of the straight one?
Dude that shit is SICK! I love it!
You could always hook up a Trail Tech ATV kit to the buggy (not affiliated, fitted a Vapor to my '03 WR250F). Various models depending on what you want to measure. They're small, pretty easy to install and not very expensive
Chris I wanted to say your fab & building is just top notch . I also realizing your editing is great also . Keep up the greatness !!!!!!!!!
Every adapter in the rad hoses makes extra turbulence, auto parts stores have pre bend moulded hose and cut to fit. Also an external spring around the fuel line at that bend in the rear will prevent it from kinking
The older polaris sleds always had a fuel shut off valve. If you forgott to turn it off it would flood the engine. When flooded the solution is: Fuel shut off - > off Sparkplugs out Full throttle Pull until clear Sparkplugs in Fuel shut off - > on Start
Nice start to the morning in Australia:)
LINE LOCK FER SMOKEY BURNOUTS!!!
Crankcase is full of gas, new plugs, hold the throttle wide open, start it and rev it out until it the crankcase is cleared out . Premix gas also needs to be precise.
Use syringe manly to fill up brake lines for hydraulic brakes boat to the brake caliper fill up reservoir with brake fluid this technique usually always works for me😊
When you have air in your lines or caliper it will do the squirt gun thing out of the master after you pump it up. If you just get a couple bubbles especially when you just start pulling the lever it's air in the master. I usually gravity bleed but sometimes if it's just a master and or an upper line, I'll just bleed it through the master giving it little squeezes to release the bubbles. It'll bleed itself eventually no matter what. it's just if you feel the need to stop or feel like coasting to a stop while franticly pumping the brakes for the first 4 stops... Just beware the piston size of the master vs the caliper. You'll either get weak brakes amazing brakes or the lever will feel like a piece of wood that you can't squeeze hard enough until it suddenly locks up the wheel!
Your killing me smalls!
You could try closing the spark plug gap to 0.02" seems to help a lot with old snowmobiles
You need smaller jets, it's jetted to run between -5 and 20 F from the factory. It started initially because it wasn't getting fully fueled.
Yay i’m so glad it runs. 🎉🎉
Note to future Chris, always have two ways to start a project. Either electric and pull, electric and kick, kick and pull. Hell, pop a clutch and push start. Just don't limit it to one type of start.
The answer is new plugs and delete the oil injection and it will run amazing. It’s possible you have an issue with the reeds but I don’t remember if you changed them. Vforce reeds make it run so much better. Also I wouldn’t recomend choking it when the plugs are wet. Let it dry out with the plugs out then hold it full throttle while pulling it. It will definitely start my man.

Use the oil tank you made to hold the oil you put in the gas. Just have a tap on the bottom to fill a cup and pour into the tank 👍
It's not due to safety sensors otherwise you would have no spark at all. Great project!
Need to run round headlights. Will make it look more Baja style!
Fouled spark plugs is my bet from Years of snowmobiling with 2 stroke guys. Hence why in that era of sleds atleast guys always carry an extra set or 2. Also keep in mind sleds are jetted for low temps so if your running when it's 70 you're gonna be too rich and not to mention way too much oil in that pre mix. Love watching you videos hope to see it running next week.
Now that’s a PULLARIS 😝
@hemibreath
14 күн бұрын
In my experience throttle opening is sensitive (a 3/8” open end wrench in the original thumb throttle gap at the cable connection) with the choke on ! Oil fouled is an issue, it’s a PULLARIS 😆
I had the bubble issue with my 79 xs400 resto. I just kept with it, pumping the brake lever while watching tv, and an hour later, the stubborn little bubbles finally blooped out and I had good pressure from the master cylinder.
The only time I've ever heard of or seen anyone use scissors for teflon tape. Ever.
that look when it first caughed to life :)
Pull the crank case drains, see if its flooded. Also put new plugs in it or heat those ones up with a torch to burn off all the fuel on them. Not sure if you put more fuel in it other than the couple ounces from that jar. Maybe it’s needs more fuel. I’ve had issues on sleds before when the plugs looked wet with fuel but it was actually not enough fuel to ignite. If your sled was running and ran out of fuel while it was running than the plugs would be dry.
You need to add a fuel shutoff in line between the gas tank and the fuel pump so you can shut off the gas any time you arent running it. Those old Polaris' are notorious for leaking down while sitting, and filling the bottom of the crankcase with gas. Then when you try to start it you pull liquid gas up into the cylinder and wet the plugs. Its basically very flooded, and takes FOREVER to get them to dry out enough to start. Deal with that many times.
Welcome to the world of two strokes, where you can chase your own tail for days. If you're used to 4 stroke, your skills don't necessarily transfer directly over. I don't mess with them anymore simply because of this.
22:30 that is gonna smoke like hell. :D

Won't even start, only started on residual normal fuel he had in there 😂😂
It’s not a sensor issue. The sensors will kill spark. If you have spark, then the sensors and wiring is fine. 2 strokes do not like too much oil. It will foul out the plugs. They can look brand new and still not work. Start with new plugs and new fuel with correct oil ratio.
A lot of 2 strokes like the throttle to be opened up when cranking over. And 4 strokes like to be held wide open when starting after being flooded
That looked like too much oil in the fuel, try putting fresh in
@jaygee6447
15 күн бұрын
You probably only needed about 25ml of oil
The two thoughts I have is, premix plus the oil pump is too much oil, and the airbox provides some resistance to the carbs to help draw in fuel
Wayyyyy to much oil, not enough fuel. Drain the line and carbs and run 3.2oz to 1 gal. Thats what 40:1 is. Still a sick build, can wait to see it rip! Hope this helped!👍
your skill has grown well with you cnc
You should put a steam whistle on the overflow for the radiator.
You had the air box and filters on during initial startup and they were probably acting as a choke. Running unrestricted is probably causing the AFR to reach incombustible levels. My 2 cents anyway 😂
crank case is probably full, when ya pull it over it just wets the plugs and kills the spark. the plugs probably dried up a bit overnight so it almost fired when ya first pulled it.
You should run REALLY lean premix along with the oil pump because it is getting oil from the oil pump but the engine is made to run In the snow so you should cool it down a little bit hence the lean premix and it isn’t back firing (I think) because of the super bike exhaust
I recommend you to mount that “black electronics box” on slient blocks. Sometimes inner welds brake due to vibration. Not sure if that’s a CDI nor if this engine runs on CDI
A hot tip from they good old days is to disconnect the crankcase vent and pull it through without the spark plugs in. Then warm the plugs with I lighter. It will run if you didn't hurt the wiring. See when two strokes fluf the gas collects in the crankcase.
That looked like 100 to 1. At any rate, this thing is so awesome!!!!

I don't know anything about mechanical stuff other than it looks really cool. But doesn't that mean it's a ratio? Like one part gas or oil to the other part gas or oil? To me it looked as if he put a teaspoon of oil in like 5 cups of fuel. How would that cool it? Or lubricated it? I literally don't know these things.
@SuburbanK2500
14 күн бұрын
@christopherallen9615 .... Two strokes need very little oil in the mixture to lubricate, especially with today's improved oils. The gasoline in the fuel is the part of the fuel/air mixture that actually cools. I'm not sure how oil injection plays with this, but too much oil in your mixture actually leans the air/fuel ratio out, and the engine runs hot. You must realize the gas/oil mixture must pass through a jet, a hole of a certain size, only a small amount can pass through that jet at a time, if too much of that little amount is taken up by oil, there may not be enough gasoline in this fuel mixture to provide enough cooling effect. It can be a hard concept to wrap your head around. As I said, oil injection bypasses this and adds oil separately from the gasoline being metered through a jet. But in this case he has the bad end of both, too much oil in his fuel mixture, and adding more oil with the injection system.
@AL4N.
