Yeah, it’s awesome that Star Wars became so popular, but also a shame that it’s *so* popular that very few people get to experience the first 2 films wholly un-spoiled now. I had the good fortune to be a 12 year old when the first movie came out, and when watching this scene in the 2nd film in theaters, the entire (fully packed) theatre of people gasped loudly. It was amazing! The whole experience was amazing

I always like watching these reactions, because for a lot of the kids it's not only learning the twist, but it's also them learning for the first time that sometimes the bad guys win. I mean she was shocked when Luke's hand was cut off, but then looked at her dad to confirm that "that just happened?"

That is classic. I have seen this movie at least 50 times. That scene still givese the chills. 😁 To see it for the first time is cool.

The next generation of STAR WARS Fan's. This is the way - Mandalorian..

My girlfriend just watched the whole saga for the first time due to the quarantine. I wish we hadn't done 1-9. Her reaction to this scene was still awesome, just like your daughter's.

Cool to see a reaction video with a kid old enough to actually understand the gravity of the situation.

...and it almost didn't happen! During the entirety of filming and within the script, the line was "No, Obi-Wan killed your father." Only two people in the entire production knew the truth from the get-go: George Lucas and director Irvin Kershner. So, when you see the exchange here, it's actually actor Mark Hamill responding to actor David Prowse saying the line "No, Obi-Wan killed your father." And since James Earl Jones did all of his lines for Darth Vader after filming, _no one_ in the cast knew until the film came out in the theater! _Star Wars-_ let alone "A New Hope"- was never created with everything figured out. Indeed, Darth Vader was originally just _one of many_ loyal military generals and enforcers under the command of the Emperor when Lucas envisioned him for the first movie, _not_ the sole and most-trusted right-hand man that we now all know him to be! Also, the writer of the first script for _Star Wars II-_ Leigh Brackett- died just after completing her first draft, but Lucas didn't like it. It was because he had to take over the scripting duties that the story for _Star Wars II_ was completely rewritten and Lucas came up with a new idea that Vader would claim to be Luke father. The historic familial twist was intentionally added in post-production, but it changed everything. REMINDER: The first _Star Wars_ movie _was not_ called "Episode IV", but rather *_The_*_ Star Wars - A New Hope_ It wasn't until the release of _The Empire Strikes Back_ that the now common "Episode __ " numbering was added. If you go back and look at the earliest film reels of _A New Hope_ (which are _incredibly difficult_ to find intact 40 years later!), you will see that the opening scrawl _does not_ have the words "Episode IV" in it!

I don't mind people asking questions. I love discussing movies. BUT, I like discussing the movie AFTER the movie has finished. I am one of those people that absolutely hates when people talk and ask questions as the movie is taking place and they miss dialog or other details. I don't know how many times I have had to rewind the movie and tell the person "listen to the movie and maybe you will find out".

It makes me happy that she’ll grow up knowing how amazing these movies are. If I ever have kids, I will make sure that they watch Star Wars at a young age.

She's a kid, kids ask questions, I should know I have plenty of siblings and they're never quiet during a film. You learn to just deal with it

I still, to this day, find the fact that Luke just let go like that absolutely hilarious, because it's such a Skywalker thing to do. I can just imagine Vader's thoughts when he saw Luke let go being "I don't even know what else I was expecting."

This made me happy, memories flood back of me at that age watching Star Wars for the first time in my room with a video I had rented out... Locked myself in my room and that was it. I came out a Jedi.

That stare tho.. Lol I literally froze when I first watched it and was like How? HOW?? HOW???? I OMG THE GOOD OLD DAYS I wish I could go watch again for the first time

Ugh, it's just seriously one of the greatest scenes in cinema history. Everything about it: the setting, the framing of the actors, the acting itself -- so over the top and wonderfully so. It's high drama. Iconic to the max.
