First PROBLEM With My 2023 Nissan FRONTIER Pro-4x *TIME TO TRADE?*

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Is it time to think about trading in the Frontier for a Tacoma? After owning my 2023 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x for a little over a year we have the first fail on the truck. My Frontier has quite a few mods but I don't think this would have been caused by any of that. What do you think? #nissan #frontier #nissanfrontier #2024 #mods #2023

My 2013 Toyota Highlander rear differential has been wet for over 2 years. Just did an oil change, guess what? Was still full when I opened the top bolt. Unless you have drops of oil collecting , this is not a leak. I do understand the frustration, my car is 12 years old at this point, yours is brand new.

I removed the tail pipe from my 2023 P4X. Remove the tail pipe back section first.. reinstall the frame bracket for future use someday, this way it does not get lost. Measure 3" out and mark for the cut from the weld at the muffler where pipe meets muffler. I used a sawzall. Straight cut down it cuts easily. Debur inside and outside of pipe, install the 12" down turn pipe.. push it on all the way and use a clamp to tighten it up. Dumps before axle and has plenty of room, and it has a decent tone when you get on it or rev engine. Also removes 10-11 lbs of weight. My 2013 Xterra is doing the same thing. Factory sealant is junk. Probably didn't wait for it to set up properly. Plan to use Lube Locker gasket and properly torque the fasteners. Didn't want to use the ARB cover. It weighs a ton and no real benefit beyond the looks. Also make sure your relief valve is operating as it should. It could cause wheel bearing seal leaks.

The Frontier and Tacoma have been equal in quality for more than a decade now and several publications including repair pal list the Frontier as more reliable based on actual repairs. But, hey, you guys do what you want. I have nothing against the Tacoma except the driving position of the previous generation was unacceptable for me. But the idea that simply buying a Tacoma means you'll never have to do anything other than change the oil is foolish. Especially if you actually take the thing off road. I've owned 15 cars now including seven Nissans and two Toyotas and the repairs were negligible among all of them but they all needed something eventually. Nothing major though. And Nissans trucks have never had an issue with their transmissions that was the early CVT's and a coolant leak into the transmission from a fault in a radiator in the second gen Frontier. It got a lot of press and Nissan haters love to bring it up but the actual percentage of failures was very small. It's was just catastrophic if it happened to you. For some reason people love to ignore the endless engine oil leaks, VVT issues and frame rot Toyota has had, Buying a car is not without risk. They all can fail. When someone like JD Power rates initial quality even the best brands still have issues. In 2023 believe it or not, Dodge ranked best in initial quality with 140 problems per 100 vehicles. Toyota, well, they fell below the industry average with 194 problems per 100 vehicles putting them in 23rd place behind even Jeep. And Nissan ranked 13th with 180 problems per 100 vehicles. Obviously this doesn't speak to long term mechanical reliability as not all the problems are mechanical in nature. Most are from electronics from having too much garbage on modern cars. But it does show that everyone has issues and pretending your completely safe with any brand is silly.

Times have really changed, I had Studebakers, Packards, Chevs, and still have a 49 Ford f-3--none ever had clean pans, trans cases, or diffs. The drips where referred to as the vehicle marking its territory. I drove them that way, had to back then. You always check fluid levels everywhere from time to time and in fact the intervals were much shorter than today. I have newer cars now and they are much cleaner and easy to care for but it would seem that with fluids the same holds good as with the old--maybe just a habit of an old man.

Oit of the issues all the trucks have, a rear diff leak is nothing. Through a kit on it and enoy that natural aspirated reliability. Def keep us updated if there are some major things. Can't say I'm sold on it, I find it looks to much like the Tacoma. I always felt the 4runner had it's own identity which separated it from anything else out there. Maybe it might grow on me, but I still have a great sense of pride with my 5th Gen. As they say, there's something about owning a 4runner. Thanks for asking.

Documenting issues is all well and good, but it beats me why you haven't gone to the dealership for a warranty repair to reseal it. The question would be, will it be a recurring problem, making a video then would make a bigger impact. I had mine, barely 3 months old. I'd be interested to know what the dealership says.

These trucks do not have undercarriage weather protection Coating Among other things That's why they can sell you these trucks so cheap where is the money saving advantage In the long run you'll be paying that extra Going cheap also has its huge price If these trucks are already dissolving from the bottom I can imagine when winter comes in when they start pouring in all that salt to melt the snow I guess trade it in And pass that problem to the next person That's a bulletproof plan "no thanks"👎
