Bought my first printer in 2006, to see how far and cheap these have come is just nuts. It’s also why I don’t do any paid 3D printing work anymore. I feel like if you live somewhere cheap it can still be lucrative but in LA unless it’s people doing local pickups, there’s no money in it and for good reason as it’s now so cheap and easily accessible.

I’m still on the fence on Bambu.. mostly cost lol, but I’m indecisive as to go with an x1 carbon or a Creality k1. Typically most of my prints get painted but I like the idea of multiple material types printing together

X1 does a lovely job with the first layer scan and spaghetti detection. Automatic flow calibration is a dream if you dont mind using glue with the smooth standard cold plate. Coming from a heated textured PEI bed, I gotta say I really like the insane adheasion of the X1C stock plate. You need glue to DECREASE it. No more warping and no need for heat, plus automatic perfect flow calibration for almost every filament. You can still use whatever sheet you want, but the flow calibration might not work correctly. And what really impressed me was that one of the first things my X1C told me was that it noticed the Z rods need some more grease. The amount of sensors (42 apparently) in this thing is just crazy. No idea if you care about any of that, but for me thats a clear winner.

I'm new to 3D printing and just purchased the A1 Mini by Bambulab. I noticed that the Bambulab A1 Mini can also print PETG. Isn't that dangerous since it doesn't have an enclosed chamber? Or would it be better to wait until I have more experience and buy one with a closed chamber and air filter?🙈

An mmu will fit on there, and has 5 colors for $30 more Still, cantilever printers always have long term alignment problems. We know it would be good out of the box. It's the 6 mo, 1yr and 2 years follow ups that will make or break it. But it's likely that Bambu doesn't care about the long term stability

Something I'm not a fan about with Bambu is their collection of ideas and then locking them down. The printers are great and all but their software handling, proprietary closed ecosystem everything, shady connections, and testing of Printable's to copy cat it into yet another closed off ecosystem is not something I'm planning on supporting. If you enjoy it, keep enjoying it. It's just a machine I don't think I'll ever mess with or go near.

Don't know why it's that expensive down under.. it's more like 300 (no AMS) everywhere else. There is a 0.2mm nozzle for almost no money. And all multi color 3D systems do waste filament like nothing. Also their replacement parts are not expensive and they will still give you support.
