Yes and no. It really depends on which states are worth it. Example Guadalajara to México city is perfect, Monterrey to México city is good too but from there is not more options. I think is better to elaborate those routes and in other cities, states work on their first metro. Cities who really need a metro is Puebla, Tijuana and Queretaro.

All over Europe you see tiny towns with their own small station, and the countries are not going broke because of that. That mentality you talk about is exactly why currently there are virtually no train routes around the country, and only recently through strong change they are just starting to get planned out and built. Of course you're going to design bigger connections for more capacity and speed, but that doesn't mean small connections should not exist!

I’m so glad you’re letting us know about the Tren Maya. It is very important to advertise this major project. The media there will not advertise it! Can’t wait to visit that region soon. You think that this inaugural day was a hassle? Then, I advise you never to take trains in the USA! first they are so dirty. 2nd they often are late (Chicago), 3rd train stations are scary places (New York, LA, Chicago, etc), 4th they are not cheap!

Thanks for doing this and being brave enough to go on day 1! This is a massive project and I don't know of any country outside of China that's tackled a train project this large in the last 100 years at least. I'm sure there's a TON of stuff that still needs to be done before it's complete. I'm riding it tomorrow to Cancun but I have all day so I'm not concerned. By the way, I'm sure you've figured this out by now that it isn't Le Tram, it's ie tram. :-)

@@Mexitplans We did the trip in about 4.5 hours today. The train left Merida bang on time but slowed for each construction site and there was one where a lot of workers got on and off the train. We took the ADO bus from the Train Station to centro for 120 pesos each. It took 30 minutes to get to the ADO station in centro.

I really appreciate how patient you are, because even people been mexican are not that patient, they always complain of everything , and is normal that the first day is not perfect yet. The Mayan train is a big proyect that wouldn't be possible with the previous Governors. I live in California, I had traveled by trains in Europe and hope soon I'll go to the Mayan train. Now, any big business opening, whether shopping mall, hotel, restaurant, airport or whatever, will have many details to be finished, so, it's only normal, I expect all this to be fixed within a couple of months. Great video, this is the one and only objective video about the 1st ride of the Tren Maya, some have gone to the extent of not mentioning the delay. This is precisely the video I was looking for, well informed. Please in a couple of months go back to see if there's any improvement. I would lovw to ride the train, but I'll wait to watch an update. Great informative video!! Thank You 🙏 Going forward I plan to use the Tren Maya to get from Cancun Airport to Merida. Hopefully they can expand the departure times to latter hours of the day and work out all the kinks of the soft opening. BTW ietram looks amazing.

IeTram was developed and built in Zaragoza Spain and are fully electrical. Also, the VayVen buses look great and are an excellent addition to the transportation system in Merida.

IN THE INTEREST OF TRUTH This train is the product of lots of shady going ons by the mega corrupt president AMLO , and most crucially the product of huge ecological damage to one of the most important ecosystems on the planet . Lots of underground Rivers (CENOTES) previously untouched , now polluted with cement, vibrations and diésel (the train runs on diesel). Protected species were displaced and huge business deals with the sale of mega fine woods from the millions of trees felled was exercised single handedly by the son of the president 'Andy' whom, like all of the president's family became millionaires overnight, Protection and suspension orders were issued by judges. All ignored by AMLO, the MORON This is a train built on blood money , tears, and irreversible ecological damage. A whim to massage the ego of Lopez OBRADOR. The worst President In México's history.

Eventually I am sure is going to be running as schedule.

The most important thing about visiting Mexico is the bathrooms in the train station and on the train. You should have taken pictures or made videos in the bathroom if it was empty. Also, how about the food you ate on this adventure? How much did the food cost? You really could have filled in details with more video rather than just talking at the camera. Still, excellent video. Just what I was looking for.

I did have video of the bathroom but chose to leave out the visuals. I did discuss it though. They were clean with toilet seats and auto sensors for soap, water, and air dryer. You couldn’t flush TP 🧻 however.

Been watching your videos since 2020. You’re always providing gems.

Buen video amigo. De momento el servicio no es lo mejor porque falta por terminar y mejorar muchas cosas pero tú has sido uno de los primeros viajeros del Tren Maya y queda registrada tu aventura. Para los que quieran un mejor servicio les recomendaría que esperen unos meses más mientras se corrigen los defectos que hay en este momento. Saludos.

It will get there. I think by March most most the kinks will be worked out for this section.

I forgot to ask, does Google Maps update with the new transportation system (The train maya and the IE-Tram)?

I don’t think so. This is one aspect that seems to be missing. Where is the website or app that shows locations and departure times.

The fourth transformation is a bunch of garbage. Too bad El Rey del Cash cannot bring millions of Mexicans out of poverty. The country is lawless, largely controlled by organized crime, lacks basic infrastructure and has no functioning legal system. Plus, corruption reigns supreme. Good to see Lopez Obrador being able to trick people with shiny new trains instead of tackling Mexico's many real problems. Last time I checked, having been in Mexico over Christmas (and I live there part time), most Mexicans are still poor and Lopez Obrador isn't going to help them. As far as Sheinbaum, she will NEVER be president and she will NEVER help the poor. Most Mexicans aren't dumb enough to fall for someone who pretends to be a Catholic when she is not. Sheinbaum has done nothing for CDMX and she will do nothing for Mexico except help her friends get rich. Who knows, maybe Sheinbaum will perfect her imitation of AMLO's Tabasco accent before the election campaign really gets underway. I am sure all the PRI crooks who joined Morena would like Sheinbaum to be president ... more money in government contracts for them.

There was a lady dancing with a couple of guys and really having a good time. She was very nice and I spoke with her at the station. We took the selfiee together. She was very happy and proud to be on the train. The joy people have here is one reason I love Mexico.
